I received this book as an ARC in exchange for an honest review. The book comes out in Feb 2023.

This is the 2nd book in an interconnected series and world. Rose is the Sister of Violet from Not the Witch You Wed.

CW: injury, blood, animal abandonment, violence

Tropes: grumpy sunshine, forced proximity, spice agreement

Fat Rep: Rose is described as having a husky broad build with curves. Body neutral and no fat shaming

I loved this book so much. Rose thinks that she is saving these frail and sick looking horses and she and her sisters get caught in the act. Only to find out that the horses are part of an animal sanctuary that is run by the grumpy Demon Veterinarian, Damian. He doesn’t let people in because he was hexed by a previous girlfriend. Rose is trying to find herself and figure out what she wants to do for a career and lands herself as a bounty Hunter for super naturals.

The banter between these two was awesome, the spice was well done. The relationship with the sisters top tier and add in a badass grandma.

Highly recommend this fun, light hearted romcom with supernaturals.

A perfect fluffy read. Just like the first book this book is heartfelt with the right amounts of action, comedy, fantasy/paranormal and romance carried by the two just loveable main characters.

The main characters and side characters are well written, experience growth and change, and make believable decisions that kept me completely invested in their stories and rooting for them the whole book. I was happily surprised with the bounty hunting subplot (I am a sucker for bounty hunting), and the handful of subplots kept the book moving without being overwhelming. I also love the not only do we see the romance plot, but there are strong genuine friendships that help both main characters throughout the book.

My only problem was the FMC from the 1st book, Violet, who I loved in the first book, I now found very irritating almost every time she appeared. Maybe it's because I no longer have her POV, but to me she came across as petulant and whiny rather than the flustered but badass witch in the first book. I think its generally the relationship between the sisters always just falls a bit short for me. Not a deal breaker, but a small flaw in an otherwise really great book.

I adore this book and I can't wait to read more in this series.

Fluffy romance novel for the millennial. Unlike the ones your mom used to read, “Not Your Ex’s Hexes” combined fantasy with pop-culture and a good bit of spice. I was able to pick this one up with no confusion despite not having read the first book in the series.

Thanks NetGalley and St Martin’s Griffin for this ARC! Maybe not something I would have picked out for myself, but I enjoyed it.

I've been lucky enough to receive an advanced first copy from Netgalley in return for an honest review. Thank you for the author, April Asher and Netgalley for this opportunity.

What a wild ride! Before picking this up, I didn't know much about the author, I however loved the book summary as well as the cover. This book had me hooked from page 1! I think some of the tropes in the book played a part in this. This is basically a Bad BoyxGood girl/One-Night stand to Lovers' book. Also, the fact that it had a supernatural twist didn't hurt. As a person who equally enjoys fantasy and romance books, reading a book that combined both was a plus.

Rose, and her two sisters (a set of triplets) in their attempt to free a couple of abused horses, find out that it's an animal sanctuary run by the half-demon "Damien". Upon seeing Damien, Rose is stunned to be facing her one-night stand again, a one-night stand that she's only too enthusiastic to re-. Damien and Rose decide to embark on a friends-with-benefits relationship, One that's filled with banter, sarcasm, and witty replies. Their chemistry is sizzling and their romance was very sweet to read about.

All in all, this was a very sweet, light read. I loved every moment of it and I would love to read more of Asher's books in the future.

I loved Not The Witch You Wed so when I was emailed with the opportunity to read Not Your Ex’s Hexes, I was so excited!

Just like the first book, it is full of hilarious and iconic banter, fun magic, and a whole lot of sass. I loved getting to know Rose and see how she adapts after her awful situation in the first book. She is at times insecure about where she belongs now that she isn’t the Prima, but at the same time is so confident and positive about everything she tries.

This book is between a witch and a half demon and it was incredible! Definitely has the grumpy/sunshine vibe, along with the friends with benefits trope.

I loved the storyline at the animal sanctuary and the demon hunting was badass! All the locations are so interesting and the new characters are so lovable.

The hex mentioned in the title was super fascinating and the reveal at the end was wild and I loved it!!

The book was quite spicy!! Lots of sexual tension, horniness, and stolen glances. I loved the dynamic between Rose and Damian (yes the half demon is named Damian lol).

After the last book I read, this representation of a curvy woman was amazing. Just like the first book, being curvy is not a personality trait, but rather just a simple description of the girls. They are confident and sexy and all the men around them know it! It’s amazing having fat girls just be fat, not insecure, not dieting, not wishing they were skinny… just living their best life as they are. And happily too!

Overall, I loved this book and I am so excited to see what Olive’s book will be like because it definitely felt like her and the sister’s guardian angel friend might be up to something soon- fingers crossed that that’s Asher’s next project haha! I highly recommend this book and the series in general! It’s a spicy supernatural adult romance series full of magic, sisterhood, and adventures (that sometimes go awry lol).

Tropes: one night stand to lovers, opposites attract, forced proximity, and good girl x bad boy

Rose Maxwell, the former Prima Apparent (basically the future Supreme Witch for any AHS lovers) is looking to find her new path in life after giving up her position. When she has a one night stand with Damian Adams, a grumpy half demon veterinarian, neither party thinks that they’ll cross paths again. Fast forward to Rose’s attempt to ‘rescue’ some horses from Damian’s animal sanctuary and the two are thrown together due to Rose’s mandatory community service.

Rose and Damian have magnetic chemistry from the moment that they meet and they fight it at every turn which makes the angst SO good. There’s nothing I love more than characters agreeing to have a no strings attached fling only to fall head over heels in love.

This is the perfect spooky season rom com and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fun supernatural romance!

Thanks to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

“Falling in love with you has been everything I’d ever hoped for and then some.”

Rose and Damian. A witch and a half-demon. Both aren’t looking for a relationship but after a one-night stand to now being forced to work together, the tension and chemistry is hard to deny so they agree to be friends-with-benefits.

This book was so fun and entertaining! Damian is broody and grumpy, but underneath it all, he’s a cinnamon-roll. Another perfect read for the spooky season!

This book was a great book to start off spooky season. I liked the fact that the chemistry between the characters was believable & the banter was top tier as well. The plot was really well thought out & I enjoyed every minute of it. My only complaint is I wish we would've had a little bit more of a backstory on Damian, & I wish there would've been a little bit more self discovery development for Rose. other than that, this book was perfect & I can't wait to read more of April's work.

Releases February 7th, 2023

TW : Sexual content, violence, abuse (past), hurt animals

I read the first book a bit ago and enjoyed it mostly. I had my eye on this sequel so I instantly requested it on Netgalley when I saw it and was so excited to be able to read it in October. Not Your Ex’s Hexes takes place after Not The Witch You Wed following Violet’s sister, Rose and Lincoln’s best friend, Damien.

Rose and Damien had one night stand and then never saw each other again until they learned that they had connections via either their sister or friend respectively. When Rose stumbles across some horses out on a farm that she believes are being abused, she, her sisters, and Harper team up to go “save the horses”, which gets them arrested. Turns out that the horses had actually already been saved and Rose tried to steal them from a Sanctuary that Damien actually runs. Rose is sentenced to community service hours and when neither of them can get that night out of their heads they decide to make a deal to become friends with benefits with no feelings attached. That always goes as expected right?

I overall think this was a very solid paranormal romance and recommended for fans of the first book, it is cheesy and immature at times and there’s some quotes that just make me question what the hell I am reading. But it’s a fun time so don’t go in a high fantasy novel, just go in wanting a fun forced proximity, one night stand to friends with benefits to lovers, and magic. I have to say that the sex scenes in this book are better than book 1 but are still not the best I’ve read and freak me out at times. I am still very excited for the next book and can’t wait to read it.

I recommend this book for those who want a fun witchy book that includes friends with benefits, hexes, an animal sanctuary, and great friendships.

Thank you to NetGalley for the arc in exchange for an honest review. This review is wholly my own.

I absolutely LOVE supernatural and this amazing rom-com between a witch and half-demon checked all the boxes!

Rose and Damian are the perfect key characters and their romance is sizzling! Where can I go find a Damian of my own!?

Perfect follow-up to Not the Witch You Wed and I sincerely hope there are more like this coming!

I will say that it was an eensy bit slow to start, but got going pretty quickly and then I couldn't stop reading. Definitely add to your TBR!

Yes to witchy rom-com this Halloween season! I much prefer them over spooky reads. This books was fun and entertaining. I enjoy the family dynamic, the secondary characters and the set up for the next book in the series. I enjoyed Rose and Damian’s banter. I haven’t read the first book in the series, but I wasn’t lost reading this.. some parts in the middle felt dragging a little to finally get to the point. It’s a fun lighthearted read.

This was a fun spooky world to start out spooky season. I love the world that April Asher creates in this series. The characters within the story were fresh, relatable, witty and the story had enough twists and turns to keep you wanting to read. I loved the veterinarian aspect of the story and getting to see Rose and Damien work together to save the sanctuary and animals. It’s giving grumpy / sunshine.

Rose is looking to find herself after stepping down from being Prima of the council, with working in the sanctuary as well assisting her sister with learning her powers. I liked this aspect of finding yourself that was intertwined within the pages.

The tension and a character development of our 2 MCs, Rose and Damien was well done.

The only reason i didn’t rate 5 stars, is because i think in a month i will almost forget this book? 😬 I liked it, it was a fun read but it wasn’t very memorable for me! That’s just my opinion though!

Fun, romcom style paranormal romance!

Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for providing an eARC in return for an honest review!

I adored Damian and Rose. I loved their relationship and their chemistry. The drama that happens between them made a lot of sense, especially for their Supernatural world.
The writing was funny and beautiful.
I also loved seeing Linc and Violet, along with the sneak peeks of Olive and Bax and maybe Harper and Gage?
My problem came with the plot, mainly that there were too many plot points. It felt like there were 15 to 20 plots all happening at the same time in 350 pages, which felt bizarre for a romcom that’s supposed to be focusing on Damian and Rose. I think it’s really cool that this book series has a lot more world building than most romcoms, but it felt like plot overload.

I didn’t realize this was the second book in a series which is my mistake. With that said I liked the main character Rose and her sisters. I was definitely intrigued but I found it a pretty slow throughout and I kept putting it down.

I want to thank NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and St. Martin’s Griffin for the chance to review Not Your Ex’s Hexes by April Asher. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I freaking adored this book! The writing took a little bit to get into, but once I did this book flew by. I couldn’t put it down. The plot was really cute and was the perfect cozy, witchy vibe for fall. I really love Damian. I am always a sucker for a grumpy bad boy and Damian was definitely an instant book boyfriend. His humor with Rose and witty personality instantly had me falling in love. Rose had me cracking up for most of the book. I love how much of a bad bwitch she is and how she’s so confident in herself and her powers. I loved the relationship between Rose and her sisters and how they unconditionally had each other’s back. Olive is probably my favorite Maxwell triplet because she was making me laugh every time she was in a scene. The spice in this book was so sinfully delicious, I was honestly fanning myself while reading. I would give anything for Damian Adams to call me “little witch.” I would give anything for Damian Adams period. I highly recommend reading this book. I didn’t know it was the second in a series when I started, but I honestly think you could read them as stand-alones, too, since I didn’t feel like I missed out on any important information. I will definitely be reading the first (Not the Witch You Wed) and hopefully a third book about Olive.

Really enjoyed this book! Truthfully didn't fully grasp that this was the second in a series but after finishing the book it does make sense, considering I felt the explanation of magic was quick, but not in a rushed kind of way. The only true feedback I'd want to draw attention to is the nickname to calling Lady Gaga Lady G... there are some other individuals who have that moniker and it definitely took me out of the scene for a moment. Overall enjoyed this take on magic and fantasy.

I really enjoyed this book! I think I liked it more than the first book in the series (Not the Witch You Wed), these characters just got to me. A broody grumpy dude with a heart of gold for animals who’s never truly been given the opportunity to love. A sunshine optimist who has to figure out how to use all her talents to find what she truly wants to do with her life after decades of other people making decisions for her. And the chemistry between the two simply lept off the page.

The story seems intriguing, but it wasn't enough to keep me engaged with the added spice. There was too much spice for my taste. I did not finish.

2.5 Stars I was quite excited to get Not Your Ex’s Hexes by April Asher from NetGalley, especially since it’s October and I’m feeling ~witchy vibes~. There have been multiple times that I’ve read a NetGalley book from a series that I hadn’t previously read, but understood what was happening because it was a standalone and necessary details were explained at the beginning of the book. This is sadly not one of those books. I didn’t read the first book, Not the Witch You Wed, and it is definitely necessary. I wasn’t sure who most of the characters were and definitely didn’t understand the rules and goings-on of this universe.

All that being said, I did appreciate the fast pace of the book. It jumped right into the action and there was never a slow moment. I also liked the main character, Rose, and all of the adorable animals at the sanctuary.

Thank you April Asher, St.Martin's Press and NetGalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. Not Your Ex's Hexes comes out February 2023!!

Not Your Ex's Hexes is the second in the Supernatural Singles series, although it can be read as a standalone. I loved the first one in the series (Not The Witch You Wed), and Ashers second novel did not disappoint. This story follows Rose, the second sister in a set of witch triplets. After stepping down from her position in the supernatural council and breaking it off from her narcissistic fiancé Rose is on a mission to find her calling and live a little. After a misunderstanding that involved Rose trying to rescue two horse she thought were being maltreated when in fact that they were at a sanctuary owned by half-demon veterinary hottie Damian. To make up for almost stealing the horses Rose is sentenced to 80 hours of volunteer work at the sanctuary. Over the course of her volunteer work will the two keep their distance from each other or figure out that not even an ex's hex can keep them apart.

I absolutely adored this book, it had humor, romance, family and friendship. There was a lot going on in the books so it made for a very fast read, there wasn't a point where I felt like it was to slow. The side characters where an amazing addition to the two main characters , there was a deep sense of found family . An honorable mention to the furry friends that are featured in the book and even thought they weren't real I was rooting for them to heal and find forever homes. I can not wait for the next books in this series, and really I would read anything Asher writes. If you are looking for a cute, fast pace supernatural read, I recommend Not Your Ex's Hexes!
