I really enjoyed this book. I hope the author continues to write more books in the future. I can't wait to see what the author releases in the future.

I really enjoyed reading this book, it was the perfect read for the spooky season and I have been obsessed with anything witchy lately. The fact that we finally get a male love interest who is not a moody rude male was very refreshing and authors everywhere please take note.
Would recommend for a cozy fall read with the cutest romance.
As a follow up to Not the Witch You Wed, Not Your Ex’s Hexes follows the middle sister the Magical Triad, Rose, and her journey to find her new life path after stepping down as the Prima Apparent, and her subsequent romance with Half Demon veterinarian, Damien.
There was plenty in this story that I liked; The world building is great- though I definitely recommend the first book be read before this one, or else much of the story will go over your head- and the characters are all very likable. Asher’s writing is fast paced and fun, and the chemistry between Damien & Rose is great.
However, this story fell short for me in comparison to the first book, and it wasn’t actually because of the story itself, but because of the copious amounts of cutesy euphemisms used throughout the story (ie a vibrator named Mr. Wiggles that is mentioned over and over, silly nicknames like “Pepe le Pee-ew” used constantly, ‘Bwitch’ used in place of the actual word) . These were also present in the first book, but not to the same degree. With their overuse, they lost their charm and became over the top and silly, which made the characters feel like silly teenagers rather than adults. I realize this is a romcom, but not every single interaction needs to have a joke or be funny, and at multiple times throughout the book I was pulled out of moments that should have sucked me in because instead of having conversations, the characters were constantly making quirky jokes and bantering. Don’t get me wrong- bantering is great. And a lot of the banter in this one is good too, but at some point there has to be a balance between banter and conversation that moves the plot along.
Overall, I will continue with this series, but I liked the first book a lot better.
*thank you to Net Galley & St Martins press for providing me with an arc*
Supernatural co workers agree to a fwb/fba no strings attached relationship?! What could possibly go awry..
Hot off a one night stand with her sisters mates best friend, Olive finds herself in a sticky situation forced into community service hours. This forced proximity grumpy x sunshine was everything I needed in a witchy romance.
The angst and the banter as the two main characters tried to keep it platonic had me hooked and the spice was 🔥🔥🔥.
The dramatic irony of the reader instantly knowing who Callie was had me biting my nails as I waited for our mc’s to catch up and what would surely be a great revelation.
I said it when I read Not The Witch You Wed and I’ll say it again now.. I will sell my soul for an Olive and Bax book!
Rose is a witch, the middle of triplets in a powerful family, who is avoiding her mother’s best efforts to set her up and settle her down while trying to find her own path in life. Thanks to an ill fated attempted horse liberation, instead of freedom and fun she’s stuck doing community service at an animal sanctuary. One run by Damian, a half demon and veterinarian. Also known as her former one night stand.
Oof, awkward
But the hours spent working together have them rethinking their agreement to stop things at a one and only time.
Still nothing serious, just some no strings fun…And even if things changed enough that Damian would even *consider* wanting more, a hex from his ex means he can’t let himself fall too far without losing everything, heart and soul.
Nothing could be worth *that* risk, right?
Even though this book is scheduled for a spring release, all the witches and various supernaturals made it a good fall read for me. Packed with fun, banter, and endless pop culture references, this was a much lighter read than you’d expect from a story with a soul on the line.
Now I have to go back and read book one, because I didn’t realize this was a sequel when I first picked it up.
Thanks to @netgalley and @stmartinspress for the ARC
This book was everything I wanted it to be. It had me turned pages without even realizing. It was so good!
This was my second April Asher book and it definitely won’t be my last.
I loved Rose and Damian’s story with their fabulous chemistry, and witty, fun banter. Both characters had their own internal struggles which felt real and relatable (yes, even with Damian being a half-demon). While Rose is struggling to find her passion in life, she isn’t anyone’s doormat. She’s strong, determined, and a bit of a baddy with a heart of gold. And I couldn’t think of a better witch to crack that hard shell Damian has around his cinnamon roll heart. I mean, he’s a vet running an animal rescue. How could I not love this guy?
These two alone made for a great read, but throw in the supporting cast and it’s a perfect escape. I love the three sisters and not only their relationship but the one they have with their grandmother. And then there’s Harper, the girls’ succubus friend who keeps everyone on their toes (I really hope we get her story). Not only do we get Rose and Damian steaming up the pages, but that tension between Olive and Bax… Oh, boy! Sooo looking forward to book 3.

This is the 2nd book in the Supernatural Singles series and while it can be read as a standalone there are a number of references to the first book so I would recommend starting there (Not the Witch You Wed). This book follows Rose after she steps away from the Prima in training role and tries to find her new path. I really love that Rose isn't afraid to try something new and her misadventures are pretty hilarious on the way to finding herself. We see lots of characters from the first book and I love the dynamic between Rose and her two sisters.
Damian starts off as a bit of a grouch who isn't interested in a relationship. He was burned when he was younger by his witch girlfriend. Now Damian devotes all of his time and attention to the animal sanctuary he works at. It doesn't take long for his sarcastic banter with Rose to turn into more. These two ended up being so cute together, they had great chemistry and brought out the best in each other.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this book!
This was cute and fast paced. It has great characters loved Rose and her friends they were so full of wit and sarcasm. Loved reading and watching Rose and Damian relationship develop throughout the book . It's a short and easy and fun rom com . Pick it up if you want something quick that's perfect for a busy schedule. Thank you to the publishers st Martin's and netgalley for my complementary E Arc. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.
Loved this romance and loved seeing the sister's again. Loved the heat between rose and damian . I loved seeing her find her way and take risks. I loved seeing the family again. I can't wait to read olly and bax story. I loved seeing everyone and knowing more about the witches.
A fun romcom that totally checked all of the witchy fall spooky but festive and warm vibes I wanted. Swoony romance, witchy times... a great mood read romance.
April Asher’s writing style is superb. The jokes that keep you interested throughout the story, the dialogue set up, the ability to be relatable to reader, etc. is right up my alley.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from St. Martin’s Press and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Love the series, characters and stories.
I absolutely love this series!!! I was given an ARC by Netgalley & St. Martins Press in exchange for an honest review!! When I finished Not the witch you wed and saw that book two was available for request on Netgalley I have never clicked something so fast!!!
Book two in the Supernatural Singles series focuses on the second sister Rose Maxwell. Rose has just stepped down as Prima and not quite sure what to do with her life! She is figuring things out including a one night stand with half demon Damian. The two have no desire for a relationship. But when Rose has to do community service at Damian’s animal sanctuary things heat up! Damian thinks Rose won’t last one day but jokes on him Rose has an affinity for helping animals! The two make a deal no feelings only friends with benefits arrangement. But matters of the heart never go to plan especially when there’s a ex hex in place!!
I absolutely loved the chemistry between Rose and Damian! I loved Rose and Damian working together to help the animals! I loved how sassy the banter was between them! I loved how blunt Rose was! I loved the growth of both Rose and Damian throughout the book!! The spice was top notch I definitely was sweating and blushing at some parts!! April Asher has done it again!! I truly hope we get book 3 with Olive and Bax because they were hilarious throughout the book!!!
Seriously do yourselves a favor and pick up not the witch you wed then pick up Not your Exes Hex on February 7,23!!! You won’t be disappointed!!

Overall,
This is the second book in the supernatural singles series by April Asher. I am lucky enough to be local to her and found a signed copy of her first book (Not the Witch you Wed) with an adorable quote in my local book store. Like the first book, I thoroughly enjoyed this one. We focus on the second Maxwell sister, Rose who is trying to figure out her passions and what to do next now that she is no longer the Prima Apparent. At the end of the last book there is a hint that Rose hooked up with half demon, Damian. We find out a lot more about that in this book. This book/series is just fun. It doesn't take itself too seriously and is just a joy read. It takes place in an alternate reality modern times New York. In this world Supernatural's came out and now co-exist with the "Norms". I think the only thing really keeping this from a full 5 stars for me is the modern references littered throughout. In general I am not a fan of these, they age a book very quickly and kind of take me out of the story.
Recommendation
If you love fun RomComs with a supernatural twist I would recommend this book to you. Perfect for fantasy romance lovers who need to cleanse the pallet of a heavier lore filled series. Tropes include Grumpy/Sunshine.
***I received an ARC of this book from Netgalley and St. Martin's Press in exchange for my free and honest review. Thank you for the opportunity to read this book early #NotYourExsHexes #NetGalley ***
April Asher did it again. If you liked Not the Witch You Wed, you're going to LOVE this book! Because in Not Your Ex's Hexes, all of the best parts of the previous book (which was amazing) are amplified-- the sexual tension, the banter, the love between sisters, and the hilarious worldbuilding that's reminiscent of Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the absolute best way.
High stakes? Got it. Spice? In spades. Oh, and humor? Perfection.
Rose needs to find herself, while Damian is fighting himself. A half-demon, he keeps is demonic side on a tight leash, and keeps his heart even further locked-down... because a soul hex from his ex will make falling in love a catastrophe for him. Having just come from a horrible broken engagement, Rose isn't looking for a relationship, either.
Except these two are drawn to each other, from Rose's bravery to Damian's sexy way of saving animals as a vet, and their undeniable chemistry. Can they control the uncontrollable? And if love comes for them, what will happen to Damian?
I'm so happy with this book. The pacing was perfect--I read it in a day-- and now I only wish I had the next one in my hands, which I *hope* is about another Maxwell triplet, Olive, and a certain guardian angel...
Can a half-demon be a cinnamon roll? Yes, he can, and I loved it! Read this book-- you'll be so happy you picked it up!
I love love love this series!! I really like the dynamic between the whole "supernatural scooby gang" and obviously the banter and tension between Rose and Damian was incredible. We love.a grumpy sunshine trope except its more grumpy girlboss but in a good way. I like the plot point of Rose finding her thing at a later age in life and trying tons of different things until they fit.
My only note is I probably read the phrase "and damn if that didn't ______ to me" from damians pov like...7 times. But otherwise I thoroughly enjoyed the book!!!!
What a fun book for spooky season!! I read Not the Witch You Wed earlier this year and adored it. I was so excited to read another novel by this author. This was just SO good and may be my favorite so far! The chemistry and banter between Rose and Damian was AMAZING. I can't wait to read additional books in this series!!
I feel like I have waiting so long for this book, and it did not disappoint. Not the Witch You Wed is one of my favorites, and now this one joins its ranks. I enjoyed Rose and Damian's story so much. The former Prima Apparent gets her own HEA in this fun and broody rom com. I love how the Maxwell sisters all have their quirks. They are not some breakable size 2 model type girls. I enjoyed getting to know Rose. I loved the cameos from Vi and Linc, too. I will impatiently wait for Olive and Harper's stories.

Veterinarian Damian Adams is a half-demon hexed by his high school girlfriend to a life without true love. Rose Maxwell is a witch who was destined to be the biggest deal in the NYC supernatural community…until her sister takes back her place in line.
When they meet at a party, it’s hotter than hades. But they think their one-night stand is it – until a midnight attempted horse-napping goes awry.
Not Your Ex’s Hexes is a fun, lighthearted read, with plenty of clever moments.
Rose is going through a rough career patch but never becomes petulant and resentful to her sister. That loyalty and “deal with it” attitude makes her a perfect fit for Damian. She’s smart, a rebel, and confident.
Damian is a reformed bad boy grump. From the jump we see why he’s Rose’s forever guy. Sure, paranormal hi-jinx is going to smack him around a bit, but he’s a guy who can learn and grow.
Bonus points for making Rose a hot curvy heroine but not making her size or weight a plot point. She just gets to be a babe about town and hang out with the demon who thinks she’s the bomb.
The horizontal (and occasionally vertical) spicy times feel very in step with who they are as characters as well.
I glazed over a bit at the details of the world and people when it did not relate to Rose and Damian’s love story. However, in a paranormal series, license has to be given for the secondary story and future set ups.
Personal Note: I fostered dogs and worked for a dog rescue organization in the past. The author manages to include difficult realities of that world (constant lack of funds, dumping animals, the hurt or struggling) without ever making it feel depressing or a cheap grab for sympathy. That’s so tough pull off and I applaud the deft writing. Also, she included some very fun parts about that life, like foster-to-forever fails, that add to the feel good nature.
Not Your Ex’s Hexes is Book #2 in the Supernatural Singles series, but can be read as a stand alone. I haven’t read Book #1 and had no issues feeling lost.
I’m already primed for Book #3, which seems to be Olive and Bex. In my mind, I’m planning a 4th enemies-to-lovers book for Julius and Charlie…or will it be Harper and Adrian? Either way, I’m on board with April Asher for this ride.
