Hello to a great start to my spooky season! Not Your Exes Hexes was one of my favourite witchy reads this year and definitely made it into the top spot for cutest witchy romances! This book follows Rose and Damian, my favourite couple in a paranormal romance that doesn't have the typical alphahole-ness that I tend to read a lot of! It was a great change of pace and this book definitely had some super cute moments between the two characters that made my heart do a little pitter patter.

Their chemistry was off the charts and their banter was top tier filled with sarcasm, hilarious moments, and all in all an absolute great time exploring their relationship throughout the plot. This book was a great leeway into paranormal romance if you haven't read anything of the genre yet and can be read as a standalone which is even better!

Cannot wait to dive into more by April because her books are the absolute best!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with an ARC of this book!

3.5 stars. Not Your Ex's Hexes is a pretty solid follow up to the Not The Witch You Wed.

Rose is recovering from a lifetime of being the Prima Apparent, always being watched and feeling pressure to do the right thing. Damian is half-demon, half human grumpy veterinarian who runs an animal sanctuary. They had a one night stand at Violet and Lincoln's Bonding Announcement party and a misunderstanding lands Rose in Damien's orbit to complete some community service hours. The hook up at the bar was supposed to be a one time thing, but they can't seem to resist each other as they both work out what they want their futures to be.

I liked seeing Rose adjust to her new lack of a a life path and try different things. Damien is just the right amount of broody and reluctantly thoughtful. He clearly struggled with his feelings and attraction towards Rose and that struggle is described really well. I adored the animals and how Rose threw herself into helping them. I'm warming up to Julius, who didn't make much of an impression on me in the first book. I LOVE the relationship between the Maxwell sisters and how they are endlessly supportive of each other. Strong sister bonds are one of my favorite book elements. I also continue to love Edie Maxwell and the other characters such as Bax and Harper.

I did think it was a bit long and that Rose's other jobs could have been cut down quite a bit. I'm not sure if the bartending was essential. I felt like that because of that, we didn't get to see much of what goes into training for Hunting, especially for someone with no real exposure to it before. I kind wanted to see Rose's badass training montage. I also thought the solution to the big problem was a little confusing and abrupt. Why wouldn't Rose have known the answer, as the former Prima Apparent? Lastly, the steam is a little repetitive across books. With one exception, it seems like there is almost no foreplay, quick entry, and simultaneous climaxes. It would be good to see a little more variety

Overall, I enjoyed this and love spending time with Maxwell sisters. It was the perfect fall read. Can't wait for Olive and Bax's book, because forced proximity is a favorite trope!

This paranormal rom com was absolutely *delightful*! Half-demon Damian has been cursed by his ex to never fall in love for almost 20 years, so he engages in only one-night stands and his perpetually grumpy. Rose, who has recently had her professional life overthrown, was one of these stands, but one he can’t forget. When she’s required to do community service at his animal rescue, the two try to avoid their chemistry, and then to deal with it via friends with benefits, but we all know that won’t be enough. So sweet, so steamy, excellent groveling, fun world building, and puppies! Loved this, should be on everyone’s release calendars!

Amazing book, omg she did it again, Rose and Damian , so great together, love the whole finding yourself theme and it works on both ways with the MCs . Their chemistry off the roof, their banter too. Definitely a masterpiece after the first one. Love it as much or even more . And I cant wait for Olive story 😍😍😍

I loved Rose and Damien's story. Rose trained as the Prima in waiting and can now breathe a sense of relief since that title has rightfully gone to her sister. Damien fights his half demon side with varying success. Together they are passionate in their love for animals, as well as devotion to family, friends and each other. This is a great series that I am really enjoying.

This was a very witchy rom-com! I had no idea it was part of a series so I liked that it could be read as a stand alone. I thought the author’s paranormal world and supernatural characters were fun to read about. Although I feel like this book was a lot longer than needed, I enjoyed it!

I haven't read the 1st book in this series (I didn't even realize when I requested it was #2) but I liked the description and these cute paranormal romcoms are right in my wheelhouse. I didn't feel lost reading #2 first. I thought the romance was adorable. I liked all of the characters, as twee as they were. I'm going to go find the 1st in the series and read it, and look forward to the next.

This is the second book in the series but can be read as a standalone. Rose was supposed to be the next Prima on the Supernatural council until her older sister finally learn to use her powers... Rose had a nightstand with a half-Demon veterinarian and they become entangled.....

Just as funny as the first book.... Love the wit, sarcasm and all the funny moments. I like the romance too. Both are great characters. The plot is terrific too. A wonderful read.

Thanks to the publisher for the arc.

A witch who has trained to be the head of the magical council all her life but has left the position and doesnt know what to do with her life and a very grumpy half demon veterinarian come together in this story of romance, magic, curses, and cute animals. Rose Maxwell has trained to become the next Prima on the Supernatural Council... except she’s stepped down now and is taking time to figure out what she wants to do with her life. After a lifetime of training, working, and studying, she now has all the free time to finally pursue interests and finding out what works for her. After an attempted animal rescue gone wrong she finds herself being forced to volunteer with the most unexpected person... the sexy half-demon she had a one night stand with... who apparently is the owner of an animal shelter and a veterinarian. Damian Adams is a half-demon veterinarian, he gave up his life of as a hunter after being hexed by his ex. If Damian ever falls in love he will lose his soul.... so it doesn’t help when he finds himself stuck with the woman he can’t get out of his head ever since their one night stand... and now she’ll be working around him twenty four seven. Damian doesn’t do relationships, he especially doesn’t do repeats or sleep with the same person after one night, afraid that he’ll end up falling in love and losing his soul... so when Rose offers an alternative: just friends with benefits and no feelings, he can’t resist. Yet the more time they spend together the harder it gets, especially when working and sleeping together. Yet when Rose decides to take up becoming a hunter Damian can’t help but return to his old life, if only to keep her safe. Will he finally succumb to the curse and fall in love with the sweet and sunshiney woman who has taken resident in his work space and in his bed room or will he give up on the woman he is falling in love with to save his soul. This was such a cute witchy rom com, filled with amazing side characters ( seriously I can’t wait to read the next book/couple) and adorable moments. I’m a sucker for the grumpy x sunshine trope and this definitely hit the spot!

Not Your Ex’s Hexes was a great follow up to Not the Witch You Wed! I loved getting to see Rose live her own life after being the Prima Apparent. Some of the dialogue fell a little flat for me in this one, maybe a little forced but overall I really enjoyed it! It was the perfect read for this time of year. I’m looking forward to the Olivia/Bex book, I cannot WAIT for that one!

I've been looking forward to the second book in this series since halfway through the first book and this definitely didn't disappoint! This is such a fun series: enough paranormal action to satisfy someone looking for something in that genre, but there's also enough background information to be a great choice for someone just coming to the sub-genre, and a lack of the jerky alphahole hero character that many paranormal readers (me included) love but that can be a turn off or barrier to entry for people.

I would have loved a little more backstory for Damian, and a little more self-discovery for Rose. The book feels a little long, but I'm not sure where we could have trimmed some fat to put in more meat. It's a wonderfully fun read, though, and I would truly take a dozen books in this incredibly interesting supernatural world, particularly because of its accessibility to new paranormal romance readers. I'm looking forward to the next book already!
