Pretty fast paced, so I was able to read this in one sitting! I only liked … one…. Character, I’d read a book only about Jenna, honestly. I’d say 3.5/5 stars, rounded up to a 4. The writing is great, but the plot a bit all over the place, the characters together didn’t -in my opinion- vibe, but I did like each individually.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me an ARC in exchange for my honest review, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Alex Finlay does it again! Thank you so much @NetGalley for this ARC. I really enjoyed this book immensely. Told from multiple point of views of adults who all came from a traumatic past in foster care together, this is a thrilling and fun read that I couldn’t put down! 4/5 stars.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of What Have We Done by Alex Finlay
I really enjoyed this novel, the author weaves a tale told from three of the characters perspectives, there are twists and turns throughout until the whole thing comes together at the end.
Jenna, Nicole, Donnie among others all have one thing in common, they all spent a few years in a group home, it was not the most pleasant of experiences either, a geiupd of them stood up for each other as a few girls disappeared over time. They were worried as to who would be next.
This was one of those books you don't want to put down, fast paced. I found the characters to be well developed, with enough description to understand their past and present relationships. I did find at times the past and present were a little muddied, wasn't sure where past ended, all of a sudden we were back to present.
Great novel, I recommend, and will be looking for more of this authors novels.

This is the story of a group of people who when teenagers were living in a group home for parentless kids. They were abused while in this home yet some were adopted or fostered out of it and many others ran away. This group of kids snooped and learned many things about the home that endangered them. Years go by and surprisingly all not only survived but also thrived. There is a electronics icon, a rock star, a tv producer, a judge and, most interestingly, a retired assassin. The plot is well done, but in my opinion, a bit convoluted. It tells the back story of each person and also the present stories. I found myself getting lost in it at times, but interested enough to keep returning to it and wanting to know how it concludes. Thanks toNet Galley and Minotaur Books for an ARC for an honest review.

This was my first book to read by this author but won't be my last! The story and its characters will stick with you long after you finish the story. Highly recommend!

I enjoy this author typically but this thriller was fairly slow paced and confusing for me. I was somewhat bored and the character development was weak which made staying engaged challenging. I did like the ending but getting to that part was a slow ride for me.

Equal parts Black Widow meets Stand By Me, a group of group-home kids hide a secret and go on to live their lives. Brought back by an unknown force threatening to bring this secret to light while possibly also killing them all, it's a non-stop whodunnit at it's finest. Twists and turns leave you wanting more!

While I enjoyed this read and found it to be pretty fast paced, I thought that the story line was a little bit difficult to follow: multiple characters, abrupt switching between past and present ( even within the context of chapters with no cues for the switch), and a murky overall conclusion.
That being said every Finlay novel I’ve read is a wild ride, and I did enjoy it overall! I just found it to be a little TOO twisty to keep up! Giving this 3.5 but rounding down due to the amount of suspense reads I’ve read this year that surpassed this one for me.
Thanks to NetGalley for this advanced copy!

I am a big fan of Alex Finlay’s Night Shift - I gobbled it up and wanted seconds.
Unfortunately this book was not up to par.
Told from multiple points of view, What Have We Done has an interesting premise.
None of the main characters for me were likable which made them hard to root for. The plot has fun twists and turns but I found myself rereading the same paragraph because my mind wandered. Basically this does not have the same gravitas as Finlay’s prior works. I also feel this trope is a bit overdone which is why I might not have enjoyed as much.
Thank you to Publisher and NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

What Have We Done is another excellent thriller from Alex Finlay. Full of action and suspense, along with flawed but really enjoyable characters. Told mostly from the point of view of three main characters, Jenna, Donnie and Nico, who were bonded together when they were teenagers, in an abusive group home called The Savior House. Twenty five years ago the three of them along with 2 others from their group home did something really bad, that left them asking themselves, "What Have We Done?" In the present day, their past is coming back at them with a vengeance, and nobody is safe. This book will keep you on the edge of your seat and is really more of an action thriller than Finlay's previous books. It still has great twists, all the way to the very end!

Told in multiple perspectives- a stay-at-home mom, rock star, and TV producer- 'What Have We Done' is a thriller by Alex Finlay, currently set to release in March of 2023. Jenna, Donnie, and Nico became friends as teens at Savior House- a home for troubled children. Multiple students are reported missing and the school consequently closes, sending the three teens in separate directions. Flash forward to the present where someone is trying to kill them- the three then fight to keep their secrets hidden and also stay alive.
I'm usually a HUGE fan of multiple perspectives, but there were so many that it made the characters a little more shallow. The plot, however, was engaging and fast-paced- plenty of twists and turns to keep me wanting to know what happens. 3☆

This book was an ARC from NetGalley
Three kids from a foster group home did something terrible and twenty five years later, they are all being killed off one by one.
I had high hopes for this book, the synopsis sounded good and the author is very highly reviewed. However, I did not like this book. It was very slow and I was bored the whole way through. It honestly felt like a chore to read it. It also seemed highly unlikely. How did a bunch of foster kids ALL become rich and famous? Maybe one, but not all.
If you’re a diehard Alex Finlay fan this might be up your alley, but it was a pass for me.

I’m a huge Alex Finlay fan, however this book just didn’t impress me at all. Way too many characters with all having something going on then trying to connect them all together was just way to much.

Thank you Alex Finlay, St. Martin's Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley for this e-ARC in exchange for my review of this book.
Wow! Alex Finlay has done it again. This is for sure going to be a top selling book. This book had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. I could not put it down; I read it in two days. It is an amazing suspense thriller.
Pros:
-Several storylines gives you a full perspective of the overall story
-Short intense chapters that leave off on cliffhangers
-Likeable and well developed characters
-Tons of action
-Great plot and writing style
Cons
-I do not have any and I think if you are a fan of suspense and thriller novels then you will not want to miss out on this one!!

Alex Finlay is quickly becoming a must read author for me.
The Night Shift was one of my favorite books I read last year, and while What Have We Done presents a much more straightforward mystery the thrill of this book lies in the complexity of it's characters.
What Have We Done follows four POVs that weave together to tell a tale of survival, perseverance and the danger of keeping secrets. Each character in this novel is unique and contributes to the narrative in a way that tells their own stories but also the way they've impacted those around them. Donnie is a struggling borderline alcoholic dealing with the grief and trauma of his best friend's murder, Jenna is an ex-assassin who just wants to leave her monstrous past behind her while protecting her family and Nico is a troubled tv producer whose vices threaten everything he struggled to build. Then you have the twins that add a spicy and often murderous twist. Each character is fleshed out through alternating POVs that build to a rather fruitful climax.
While this was not as complex a mystery as you might think, and some parts were rather predictable the ending still packs a punch, and the journey to get there was pure fast-paced entertainment. Something that I love about Finlay's books is just how bingeable they are. This is the second time I've picked one up and finished it in one sitting. What have we done was a perfect, quick and really enjoyable read, and I can't wait to see what Finlay comes up with next.

Oh how I love this book. It might be 3 separate characters, but their lives are certainly not separate. They are linked by their past and learning about it is chilling and filled with suspense. A true you-can-run-but-you-can't-hide type book... and what is their secret exactly?? Well, let's just say it involves murder.
This book seemed to drag at times, but my curiosity kept me turning the page and I loved the twists. Anytime I don't see them coming, it's a win. This book is a winner!

(2 1/2). Talk about moving all over the place. Talk about unresolved issues. Talk about almost non stop action. You will talk a lot about this book as it almost never stops to give us a minute to figure out just what in the hell is going on, but I sure had a good time trying. Our main character, Jenna, is serious fun, and the others around her have interesting and not so interesting moments. A couple of fun bad girls and a plot that we sort of think is possible. A pretty wild ride. Decent stuff.

Rating: 3 / 5 Stars
Thank you too NetGalley and Alex Finlay for providing an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This was the first of Alex Finlay’s books I’ve read so super intrigued because I heard great things. I was a tad disappointed, because I felt like it was pretty straightforward for a mystery. I did, however, enjoy reading about the characters and thought it was well written. I would definitely be interested in reading Alex’s other books in the future.

What have we done starts off with a literal blast - a gun being passed from person to person, each shooting into a body dumped into a freshly dug hole. No one is innocent. No one is unscathed.
Jennie is newly married and a stepmother, She is also a former assassin. That is until she received a threat to her family if she did not kill a billionaire target, The target happened to be Artemis, a tech entrepreneur who she knows well.
Donnie is a washed up, rock star who cannot seem to get a grip on sobriety. He is grieving the death of his best friend, Ben, who was a federal judge. While performing on cruise ship, a woman he thinks to be a fan instead makes him jump from the ship to what should be his death,
Nico is a reality television producer. His current hit is set in a mine. He is told to meet someone at the mine when it is deserted. An explosion is set and he is buried deep.
What do all these people have in common? They lived in foster home, Savior House, which was anything but a safe haven for children, Someone was after them now, after all these years. But who and why now?
Told from multiple viewpoints and timelines, this is an extremely fast paced thriller which will keep you engrossed until the last page.
My thanks to NetGalley for ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review.

I will officially never trust an epilogue again.. I plan to sue Alex Finlay for the emotional distress and my future trust issues.
25 years ago 5 orphans buried something outside the grounds of saviour house, flash forward 25 years and one by one each of those people have had attacks on their lives, leaving one dead.
Once I got into the book it was a rollercoaster of emotions. However the first half seemed to drag with inconsistent transitions that left me having to go back and reread where the time jumps started and end.
As the story goes on I became more invested in everyone’s stories and what had happened when they were young.
I will say as I reader I enjoy a peaceful happy epilogue conclusion and this was not that. The suspense had me hanging on until the very last paragraph jaw dropped and concerned for my favourite assassin.
