I feel like I have whiplash from this book. This is a twisty thrilling page turner that kept me engaged. This was my first book by the author but I will definitely be moving his others up on my TBR. While there were a few clunky moments with the dual timeline, this was action packed read that I will definitely recommend.

Wow another great read by Alex Finlay. Lovced the full and complex characters. I felt like I was a part of the story. Lots of tension twists and turns.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book

Alex Finlay is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors. I like the way his stories unfold and I always really connect with his characters and find them to be believable.. I can totally see What Have We Done being made into a movie or television series. Fast paced and action packed.
I would like to thank the author, net galley and the publishers for an ARC of What Have We Done in exchange for my honest opinion.

This book was action packed & stressful! It wasn't my favorite Alex Finlay but I still enjoyed it. Thank you for the ARC!

Let me preface this by saying I did not hate it. It wasn’t a bad book, BUT there were some things that really irked me. I was primarily bothered by how the flow of the book went. There was no notation, no indication at all of when a flashback would occur. You just would figure it out half way through the scene. I HATED THAT. I kept having to go back and reread. I would also prefer if the chapters were labeled by the name of the person’s POV we are reading from, but that’s more of a personal preference. Alas, this is an ARC and maybe those things will change in the final copy 🤞🏽
I think this story could have been 3 books, at least! There was a lot of history to unpack but not enough time to truly explore it. It felt a tad rushed. I did enjoy the actual storyline, but it took me a long time to feel invested.
If you like mysteries or thrillers you might enjoy this one!

This is my first book by this author and I loved it. I love the short chapters and multiple POV thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this arc

I received an advance copy from NetGalley. Alex Finlay has done it again! RUN, don’t walk to get this book when it comes out. I loved this book just as much as his 2 other ones. I loved that each chapter was a different character and I loved all the characters. I could not stop reading this book, The twist was crazy good!!

This was a hard one for me. I’m a big fan of The Nigh Shift by Finlay and I also enjoy thrillers. What Have We Done was very different from both of those for me. It was definitely action packed but read more like an action movie than the psychological thrillers I usually enjoy. This isn’t to say the book was bad by any means. The short chapters were great and some of the characters fascinated me. This book will absolutely find its audience, it was unfortunately not me.
Thank you to the author and publisher for the ARC book in exchange for an honest review.

Another wonderful read from Alex Finlay! The characters were all really interesting, and the whodunnit (referencing To Kill a Mockingbird, no less) had me guessing until the end. I really enjoy Alex Finlay’s books and have yet to read one that wasn’t thoroughly enjoyable. What Have We Done was thoroughly suspenseful and addictive and I’m actually quite disappointed that I’ve finished it. I can’t wait for Finlay’s next one.

This book follows 4 adults who are being tracked down and someone is trying to kill them. The only thing that connects them is their past. Can they figure out who is doing this to them and why????
I enjoyed the chapters each following separate characters. The ending was a big twist and I loved it!

What a wild ride! This was my first Alex Finlay book and it won’t be my last. I loved how the book went from present to past through organic memories coming up. The character development was so strong and I felt like I understood where everyone was coming from.

Finlay is a master of their craft. It took me a while to figure out the story, but I loved every moment of the ride and liked how it played out. It was a whirlwind of Suspense, thoughts, and emotions. LOVED IT.

Thank you NetGalley for this ARC of the latest Alex Finlay. He has moved up the ranks to one of my favorite authors and I was really excited to be approved for this book.
What Have We Done starts off with a bang and ends with a bang. The entire and I mean entire book was edge of your seat. There were no lulls.
There are 6 kids who grew up in sort of an orphanage type place and they did something as kids. Now they’re adults and someone knows what they did. One of them is dead and the others are targets. The whole and why blew me away.
I wouldn’t classify this one as a psychological thriller but definitely a thriller.
I stayed up way too late reading this and I read it in about 3 days time. Finlay’s books just keep getting better.

Holy 'mokers, Friends...
Alex Finlay hit it out of the park again!
This book is so complex and well written; chock full of superb characterizations. I felt like I knew them so well and the dialogue was so genuine. I was SO invested.
This book grabbed me on Page One and I couldn't wait to get to the end even as I knew how sad I'd be when I got there.
This is not one to miss.
Thank you to St. Martin's Press/Minotaur for gifting me a copy. It is my pleasure to write an honest review.

Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and Alex Finlay for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
Okay guys, this book was honestly a crazy ride from the moment I started it. I read another review that characterized this book as an “adrenaline thriller” and I have to agree with that description. The action starts in chapter one and literally doesn’t stop until the last sentence of the epilogue. The pacing of the book was pretty good, I didn’t feel like it lagged in any moments. the chapters were super short, which I loved, because it made the book feel as suspenseful as the story content. I wasn’t really a fan of the point of view that the chapters were written in (it was written in third person, but would go back and forth from all the characters). I think I would have enjoyed it more if it had been first person POV and switched between all 3 main characters! At times the plot was a bit unbelievable/unrealistic, which would kind of draw me out of the story. But overall, it was a solid read. The epilogue was a little crazy, especially when I feel like epilogues are usually like a resolution/all tied up moment and this felt more like a “let me throw in one more crazy thing” moment. Recommend for thriller/suspense lovers looking for unique and nonstop action book that keeps you on the edge of your seat!

This was a fast paced thriller with three points of view. I loved the premise, but the overall book, didn't quite live up to the excitement I was hoping. I didn't like the characters as much as I thought I would. However, this was still a good read.

I requested this book because I love Alex Finlay. He's a great author and his books are always taut thrillers that drive me to read the entire book in one sitting. "What Have We Done" is another excellent book that's very different than the other ones he's written. Instead of a usual whodunit, it's a wild ride with flavors of a spy thriller with a very interesting group of characters trying to figure out why they're all being targeted.
Jenna, Donnie, and Nico haven't spoken in years and suddenly are faced with their past in an abusive group home. Each one of them took the lessons from surviving the group home into somewhat successful lives. They realize they're all targets, and reconnect to figure out who's targeting them and why.
The characters are very interesting, although I found their lives oddly successful for the trauma they suffered, although I think Finlay was trying to point out that one can harness trauma into success, regardless of that that looks like. I was very invested in everyone's current lives and wish that we had spent more time in the past to learn more about the three kids and their relationship. Overall, this was great book.
Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.

Thank you so so much to St Martin's Press, Minotaur Books, and NetGalley!
I was so thrilled to read this one following Finlay's Night Shift. This one did not disappoint!
25 years ago, Jenna, Nico, and Donnie were teens in an abusive group home. They were split up when it was shut down and went on to successful lives. Now, someone hunting them down to kill them. To stop them, they have to revisit the trauma from the group home.
Wow! That was quite a read. I never saw the twists coming. Finlay does it again. The writing is excellent. Chapters are told by different characters in the present or in the past. I don't often like this style, but Finlay does a phenomenal job of holding my interest with each character. There's enough given about each character's life that I was able to connect with them. An impressive thriller!

This is being blurbed/promoted as “Alex Finlay's best [book] yet” and I have to respectfully disagree. I think it's quite the opposite.
AF's previous two books are full of twists and turns, cleverly connected characters, and plots that keep the reader on the edge of their seat. This story has none of those. It's honestly the most straightforward mystery/thriller I think I have ever read. The main past event is given away in the prologue and the current present day events are so obvious that I'm not really sure what the purpose of reading is. With the “whodunnit” and the “whydunnit” given away, I feel like there's really nothing left for the reader to discover.
That being said, I never felt like I wanted to stop reading and that's primarily because of the characters. There's just something about them that had me intrigued and curious about their stories. I do wish they had interacted together more, but I found them compelling enough as individuals to keep reading.
So overall, not exactly AF's best work but hey. You win some, you lose some.

25 years ago a group home called savior house was shut down after the disappearances of several girls. Three friends who tried to solve the mystery of the disappearances themselves are now being targeted. Someone wants them dead but who and why after all this time?
DNF at 55%.
So my first book by this author was the night shift and it was one of favorites I read this year. So seeing he had a new book coming out I knew I wanted to try my chance at requesting it! Thankfully I got lucky and granted an ARC! (Thank you NetGalley and the publishers!)
Unfortunately this felt like a complete shift from “the night shift”. Now I’m not saying every book by an author needs to be the same but I was expecting something more thrilling. To me this was like an action movie and although some parts were interesting it just wasn’t gripping enough for me. I honestly didn’t care for any of the characters, they all just felt kind of blah.
Also this story goes back in time to flashbacks of the group home and it can be hard to distinguish when that’s happening. One moment you’ll be in the present and the next line you’re in the past with no warning or context until your halfway done. I had to go back and reread some parts and say to myself “oh that’s the past…duh!” Haha.
I’m not saying this is a bad book by any means so please don’t let my review keep you away from taking a peak at this one. It’s just not as thrilling as I was expecting.
