This book had a good storyline and relatable characters. Sophia and Gaston being other than the typical English Nobility usually found in Regency Romances. Although slightly unnecessarily long-winded at times, I would still recommend.
Thank you Rose Philips, Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advance copy for my honest feedback.

Love Unraveled by Rose Phillips is an entertaining romance story. I was able to easily connect with the characters & storyline and although I did enjoy this story, I also felt like it dragged a bit in the middle. I did finish the book even though making it through some parts were harder than others, I was intrigued enough by the story to keep reading.

Would It Be Revenge, or Could It Be Their Second Chance?
Gaston disappeared from Sophia’s life sixteen years ago; she thought him dead. Now, he was back, seeking revenge. Where was he all these years, and why would he want vengeance? Years ago, they loved one another. What happened that ripped them apart? He thought she betrayed him, but what was the story? So many years lost, and so many misunderstandings made their reunion bittersweet. Love like theirs could not just completely die, but could it be fully resurrected after all these years? Their relationship was at stake, but their lives hung in the balance, too. After all, spying was dangerous business. Sophia and Gaston would face deadly peril before it was all over. I enjoyed this story and would recommend it to those who like Regency romance with treachery and intrigue.

The third installment of the Honorable Intentions series, this second chance romance is full of intrigue, emotion, and drama. Sophia has had to endure so much pain and loss in her life. She was in love and had planned to run away with Gaston when she was 17, but then he disappeared. With all the upheaval in France at the time, she lost both her parents and ended up living with her aunt until she also passed away, then going to live with a family friend, Count Tessaro. He was a good friend to her and also helped in trying to find Gaston, but after three years of waiting, Sophia decided to marry him. He provided well for her and cared for her and she was content. She eventually ends up a wealthy widow and lives her life as she pleases. Then by chance Gaston reappears in her life. Unfortunately, they cannot resume where they left off, too much time has passed and so much has happened. Gaston is bitter and angry that Sophia did not wait for him. They each have issues with trusting each other. It takes some time, but misunderstandings eventually get cleared up and their reunion and rediscovery of each other is beautiful to see.
The story was interesting and well-written and kept my interest the entire way through. I enjoyed the complexity of the characters and the richness of their personalities. This was a lovely and emotional romance and a wonderful addition to the series.

Great story! Sophia and Gaston have a history growing up in France that contributes to the drama of the story!
Sophia was just 17 when Gaston disappeared from her life without a word. Sophia marries, is widowed, and creates a life in London aiding Britian in their intelligence gathering against France.
After many years, Gaston seeks out Sophia to get some answers. He is hurt that Sophia did not wait for him, and that she married another. Gaston wants answers to his questions.
Rose Phillips has written a wonderful story that has complicated characters and a compelling story line.

Love Unraveled is a sweet, second-chance romance set in Regency England. It offers a fresh change of pace from the usual historical romances set in this time period by giving us a couple where neither protagonist is British but rather French (in Sophie's case, half French, half Italian). Gaston and Sophie have known each other since they were children, their friendship forged against the backdrop of the French revolution. Their friendship turned to love as they grew into teens, but they were torn from each other in the chaos of war. Sophie, believing Gaston dead, married another, and when the main story begins, she is a wealthy widow living in England. No one is more surprised than Sophie when Gaston reappears quite out of the blue.
At first, Gaston is out to make her feel bad for not waiting for him. Fortunately, the story does not dwell in that space for too long, and soon the two are finding themselves joyfully rediscovering each other. However, their mutual but separate secretive side jobs as spies for the British government keep them busy and prevent them from becoming fully public.
So there are traitorous plots and bad guys and mistaken identities, though none of these plot points feel particularly dramatic, even when the story reaches its climax towards the end. However, I just liked Gaston and Sophie so much that I didn't really mind the more sedate pace.
I received an ARC of this book for free from the publisher and Netgalley. I'm writing this review voluntarily, and it reflects my honest opinion. Thanks!

Got an arc of this and was really very pleasantly surprised. I’ve not read the previous books, and at first struggled a little to follow, but once I got into the groove I really enjoyed it.
Kudos to the author for getting this BatB fan to like a character named Gaston.
As I got to know Sophie and Gaston I really enjoyed their relationship and how it developed. I am a sucker for rediscovered love.
There were a couple of things at the d while wrapping up the story that I a would have enjoyed more focus on, especially in respect to Sophie and her friends and another meeting, but all in all I really enjoyed this book, and am considering reading the others in the series.

Love Unraveled is the story of Sophie and Gaston. To the ton Sophie is a carefree widow, but that persona hides a strong, but heartbroken woman. Gaston, has been through so much only to be left feeling betrayed by the one person he loves most in the world. I love the writing style, it really shows the characters emotions well. I will say I am not great with languages other than English, and the French and Italian slowed my reading down a bit. However, overall it is a great book.

Love Unraveled by Rose Phillips is a romance spanning many years. They had been going to run away together when he disappeared. Sophie had been just 17 years old and Gaston slightly older. It was a time of upheaval in France and no one was safe. Her own mother had been attacked on the streets and dragged away by the mob, probably to her death. Her father had disappeared and she lived with her aunt. They spent the night together and he left to make the final arrangements. He was to return to her and she waited, and waited. Her aunt passed away and she went to live in the home of a family friend, Count Tessaro. He had been a good friend, and had tried to help Gaston. He was older but after waiting three years and assuming Gaston to be dead, she married him and loved him, in a way. He came to her seldom and had trouble performing the marital act so there were no children, but he provided for her and for her future, which was why she was here in England, a wealthy widow. He had done that for her. Now Gaston has returned with a very sketchy explanation as to his whereabouts for the past 16 years.
Sophia was a complicated character. She guarded her heart and was pragmatic about planning her life. She had brought some of the Count’s retainers with her to England and they were loyal to a fault, and protective. She had curated a persona, that of a wealthy, carefree widow who took her pleasures as she saw fit. That was not the case: there had been only Gaston and her husband. She was not without admirers, however. She led an active social life and provided the Home Office with what ever tidbits she was able to overhear. She was happy. Gaston, as it turned out, was also a spy for England. His career had been much more active and dangerous than had hers and his persona and body reflected that. She was not sure if she was yet ready to trust. All he knew was that he had never forgotten her and intended to change the direction of his life, with her. It was well-plotted and the characters were rich with personality. It was well worth the read.

Countess Sophia Tessaro has a past. Whilst she is known to London society as a wealth widow, who is currently courted by a duke, she is actually French. With tensions mounting with the Napoleonic War, Sophia surrounds herself with her English friends, whilst she spies for the British intelligence. When Gaston Armand, the Marquis de Lyon, reappears in her life, Sophia is thrust back to a time when they were madly in love. In an attempt to protect her heart, Sophia does her best to ignore him and their obvious attraction. Gaston, however, has other intentions.
A fascinating book, the third in the series, which brings to life a turbulent period in time. The intensity of Sophia and Gaston’s feelings are palpable, yet the drama and danger that surrounds them, is carefully interwoven, into their story. This second chance romance is definitely worth savouring.

Napoleon is on the march and England needs their spies to find out his plans. Sophia is fluent in several languages and uses her status as the Countess Tessaro to collect information for England. Gaston Armand is also a spy working for the Home Office looking for a traitor. The last time Sophia and Gaston saw each other was seventeen years ago. They knew each other intimately, but time and events have changed them. Except they still love each other even if they don't entirely trust each other. As they once again become intimate, Gaston and Sophia must flush out a plot and who is responsible. Not really surprised to find out the identities of the bad guys, but some surprise about the plot.
Heat level 3.

Wealthy widow Countess Sophia Tessaro is a popular woman who lives her life as she pleases. A few think she will marry a Duke, but she has a totally different reason for accepting his company. Our heroine hides some of her history, and her present even from her closest friends.
Gaston Armand is a French emigré with a secret agenda.
With the war against Napoleon and trouble in the colonies, spying is rampant amongst all levels of society. The problem is knowing who is guilty.
This historical romance is full of danger, political intrigue and emotion. It is part of a series that would be best read in order, but you can read each book on it's own. All the characters are fabulous and lead fascinating lives.
Really great fun.

Countess Sophia Tessaro, a wealthy widow is the toast of London. Courted by a duke, surrounded by admirers and good friends, she has created the perfect façade for spying on the elite and aiding Britain in its intelligence operations. Gaston Armand, the Marquis de Lyon, has never forgotten the girl who saved him from the streets of Paris during the storming of the Bastille. Nor has he forgiven her for betraying him years later. He seeks Sophia out for one purpose. To hurt her as she had him. When Gaston threatens Sophia's carefully constructed persona, she agrees to his proposal—to allow him integral involvement in her life for one month. She is determined to see him gone when the agreement ends.
The third book in the series but it can be read as a stand alone. A well written book with strong characters, that flows really well. There's danger, intrigue & a lovely romance. I really liked both Gaston & Sophia & became invested in their journey to a HEA
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read

This is a beautiful story of love lost and found again. A bond so strong time has not dimmed its fires. Very good with their own form of spycraft, they were able to unravel a treasonous plot to assassinate heads of state. The relationship between the heroine and her lady friends is very heartwarming. But so is the loyalty of her servants who are more like family. The warmth and loving tenderness the couple have for each other will move your heart.
I received an ARC of this book and leaving my review voluntarily,

Finding a long lost love and some spy action made this book enticing.
I really liked the last third of the book when the pace picked up and it felt more like a thriller. I liked Gaston coming back into Sophie's life after so many years, but the return of the romance seemed to take forever. Gaston felt like a bit of a stalker in the beginning too.
I liked the whole figuring out the treasonous plot, but I almost lost interest since this book was too slow for me. Overall a decent read though.
Thank you to Dragonblade and Netgalley for providing me a copy of this ARC for my honest review.

5 stars
Loving this series.
This book is about Sophie/Sophia the Countess that's been helping the heros/heroines from book 1 & 2. She's a more mature heroine in her early thirties. She lost her first love when she was escaping from Napoleans invading armies. Gaston has been looking for revenge as he felt she didn't wait for him and married the count to quickly.
It takes some time for the misunderstandings to iron themselves out. I liked how Gaston was able to put his own needs to one side and play a long game to ensure he had a HEA with Sophia. The story is really well done. There's an enamoured Duke and Laurence the spy hiding in plain sight to add to the mix. Bentley was also delightful. Will there be more stories. I hope so.
Definitely recommend the whole series.

Engaging Characters/Interesting Story.
Despite crippling personal losses Frenchwoman Sophia has made a life for herself in England and given her life purpose by doing what she can to defeat Napoleon. When fifteen years later she comes face to face with her lost love she is at first overjoyed to find out he is alive, then angry and broken-hearted that he has not contacted her before. Can Gaston get over his feelings of betrayal and fight to regain Sophia’s heart? Then there is the matter of trust - their path back to each other is not made any easier due to the secrets they both are hiding.

This is exactly the type of light and engaging read I love. The story was fun, the characters interesting, and the plot compelling. Wonderful and captivating regency romance that you will like.

The devastation of war, families torn apart, divided loyalties, all of this and more are the backdrop to this riveting romance. Sophia has more heartache and pain than most people in her experience, having lost not only her beloved parents under excruciating circumstances but also the love of her life. Nevertheless, she is a survivor and has turned the tables on her enemies by supporting the British cause. When Gaston unexpectedly reappears in her life, she is both astounded and angry at discovering that he is alive and has been living in England for some time without contacting her. It is only by chance that Gaston sees Sophia in a passing carriage and he finds a way to track her down. Unfortunately, true love never runs smoothly, as he also has to ascertain who Sophia is working for and whether she can be trusted. With forces working against them, it is only after both their lives are put in danger that the novel comes to a happy and romantic conclusion. The book is well written, exciting, and romantic and held my attention from the opening lines to the closing chapter. I received a copy of this romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.
