Theis book is from the “How To Catch” series – there are 25 of them now! These bright and fun picture books are written for kids from 4 to 8 years old and are about 40 pages each. This whole series is great fun and I’m confident your young readers will love them.
• This book was a little different from the norm. Typically the children are trying to catch something – a mermaid, an elf, a unicorn, etc. But they don’t seem to be trying to catch the daddysaurus much in this book. Rather, the book tells a story about all the great things a daddysaurus does for them. Ultimately, the kids learn they don’t have to catch daddysaurus because he loves them and will always be there. It is a lovely sentiment, but it feels out of place for the How to Catch stories IMO.
• As usual, the story is written in verse with colorful and fun illustrations.
Thank you @NetGalley and @SourceBooksKids for an eARC of this book, which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
After reading this particular book of the series, I'm thoroughly convinced that my library might be lacking. The book was so cute and sweet. I loved the way the kids were building up the father throughout and ended up with the realization that they didn't have to build elaborate traps or set up something to "catch" him; all they needed was a good dose of love and he'd come running.
My partner has started referring to this one as a personal favorite of his and has insisted on reading it several times over the last couple of days. 💖😅
How to Catch a Daddysaurus is another great installment of the "How to Catch a" series. We love this series at my house and this book is no exception. It would be the perfect gift for Father's Day. How can dad resist his little reading him a book about how much they love him followed up with a drawing they did inside the book! This story is cute and the animal is pretty (as always). This is another cute, fun, children's story!
A children's book celebrating how wonderful Dads can be. As a foster parent, I know of the need to portray men in a positive light. This book fulfills that need through literature! Dads are celebrated for being kind, brave, brightening their family's days, being strong, working hard, and loving their children. A 5 star children's book!
This is a very fun and silly book. The pictures are nice, they are well done and they seem engaging. I did think originally that this book was for younger children, 4 and under but after reading I definitely don't think so. They pictures and the writing is definitely designed more for older kids, maybe 4 and up.
This is a very cute story for young children to read with their fathers, or to have their fathers read them around Father’s Day. Obviously, this book can be read during other parts of the year but to me it just screams Father’s Day. As someone who teaches all boys, this book will probably be one of their favorite books.
How to Catch a Daddysaurus is an adorable addition to the “How to Catch” series. My kiddos loved it and I loved how it highlighted fun things that dads do. The illustrations were great too! My children love to look at see what fun things the characters are doing in the book.
We love this series at our house and this addition is a winner! It will be read many more times at our house.
This is a great book for anyone looking for a book highlighting all the things a dad can do or anyone just looking for a fun children’s book.
If you have other books in the How To Catch series you should add this to your collection. If you don’t, then you should still add this to your collection. How to Catch a Daddysaurus is a fun book about kids trying to catch a being with amazing abilities (dad). It would be a fun book for father’s day or any time of the year. Lots of rhyming and fun about what dad’s might do. The pictures are bright and engaging. A sure win for a read aloud with pre and early elementary kids or for them to read for themselves.
I received an electronic ARC from SOURCEBOOKS Kids through NetGalley.
Walstead's latest will make a terrific Father's Day gift. The How to Catch Club sets out to catch the Daddysaurus by constructing a variety of traps. None of them work and they realize how easy it is to find a Daddysaurus. Highly detailed illustrations can be studied over and over to find all the trap parts and other pieces of this story. Be sure to search for the Daddysaurus hiding throughout.
This book's text did not flow as smoothly as others in her series but will be a fun family read.
Super cute book just like the rest of the "How to Catch a..." series of books. This one is unique because it shows what the Daddysaurus looks like the entire time! Most of the books have the elusive character as hidden throughout the pages. The illustrations are great, easy to read for a young reader, and has cute rhyming throughout.
Recommended age group: 2-6

How to Catch a Daddysaurus is an fun addition to the “How to Catch” series. A short rhyming book with fun illustrations, this one touches on positive qualities like kindness, appreciation, working hard and bravery. I love that there is a page at the end for the child to draw their own Daddysaurus. I would recommend this as a story for 3-7 year old children.
Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS Kids, Sourcebooks Wonderland and NetGalley for the chance to review an advance digital copy of this story. The opinions expressed are my own.
Daddysaurus is someone you should find. The team set up to look for this person, who is not easy to find. He is busy, but spare some time for his family. This book taught us to be a great dad, but also for children to appreciate what their dad does for them. In a fun way with great illustration, you'll find your daddysaurus at the end of the day.
A great way to celebrate and appreciate the dads! I can’t wait to give this as a Father’s Day gift this year.
While the book is not inclusive to all family structures, there are books in the “how to catch” series for all.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this advance reader copy.
It is very similar to other books of the How to Catch series;although it is still a good read for children, would probably say it was not one of the favorites from the series.
The pictures had a lot of color (would probably say audience is children about 4/5years old). Younger kids would more than likely get distracted easily by the end of the story.
For kids who like dinosaurs and a good read for father's day.
This is a wonderful addition to the "How to Catch..." series. My students absolutely adored it, as did my three year old daughter. When you have a working formula, stick with it! A delight to read.
How to Catch a Daddysaurus was loved by my 4 year old and she suggested we get it for Daddy on "Happy Daddy's Day!" :) Overall this was a sweet rhyming story highlighting the appreciation of Dad's. Would make an excellent Father's Day gift or baby shower gift. Adorable illustrations with lots to look at on each page.
Thank you to SOURCEBOOKS Kids, Sourcebooks Wonderland and NetGalley for the ARC!
Again with this book as well as how to catch a garden fairy it has a clear lesson and was very cute. I will have to get more in the series for my son.

And adorably cute quick read. Perfect for the daddysaurus in your kids life. I especially love the spot at the end to draw your own dinosaur.
A super fun addition to the How to Catch A... series! This would make a great gift for the dad in a young child's life. The illustrations are adorable and the content is fun. My 4 year old daughter really enjoys these books and finding the main character on each page.
Thank you to the publisher for providing this ARC. All thoughts are my own.
My 9 year old gave this story 5 stars. He has read other book like how to catch a mermaid so he is familiar with the storyline. He liked that endings and how they were making traps but at the end it was they loved him instead. He liked the traps they tried to setup. He also liked the dinosaur being in the background. The story was about love he said.
