This rhyming picture book follows a familiar rhythm and pace while telling how to catch a special creature: a daddysaurus. Part of a series, this book joins others like How to Catch a Garden Fairy, following similar formatting and style. Every second page has a short 4 line stanza. The font is fairly large and easy to read, and is supported by large, colourful illustrations. I think this would be a fun book for young readers and is likely to be a popular series. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read and review this book!
A huge thanks goes to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Wonderland for being able to read this cute book. In the grand scheme of the series, this isn’t my favorite BUT it is so cute! I loved the illustrations and the details within them. Doing a picture walk first thing will give so many opportunities for predictions. The vocabulary terms are not as complex in this story (as compared to others in the series), but still good. Overall, this is a very cute way to add another story to the library to celebrate all the fathers out there!
We enjoyed this book and the animation, however it fell a little flat in comparison to the rest of the series.
This is such a sweet story with rhyming text that shows the importance and impact dads/father figures can have in the life of a child. The illustrations displayed a lot of diversity, which is something I look for when I am choosing a children's book. An overall fun read!
This is the perfect addition to the How to Catch series. This picture books shows how many things a dad does and shows how to appreciate all the little things. The pictures are fun and the plot is catchy as always. Definitely recommend and I will be acquiring one for the kids at my daycare!
I happily received an arc via Netgalley in exchange for a honest review.
SUCH A FUN STORY!!!
Me and my kids have read quite a few "How to catch a" and this one was defintiely jusst as fun!
The pictures are bright and vivid, And the story is so fun to get into and interact with the kids,
Love reading these stories with my kids!
We love this series! Adding this one to my baby-shower gift list for new, and repeat dads! My kid giggled during the story.
I thought How to catch a daddysaurus was a delightfully fun book to read to my daughter. I enjoyed it just as much as she did.
I read this to my three year and she enjoyed this so much. We read it about 10 times. It was so cute
This book was cute enough. Like the other How to Catch books, it wasn’t really anything to write home about, but I found the rhymes to be cute and the illustrations fun. I do think there are more interesting books out there that have to do with appreciating fathers, but this one will appeal to those who like dinosaurs or are fans of the other How to Catch books.
Our Thoughts ~ Great read we loved the meaning behind the book as well as the very detailed illustrations you felt like you were there going through it with them. we have an inside joke in our house about my husband being a DaddySaurus that is why we choose this book. My daughter saw the title and immediately said hey that's what we call dad. It was a funny meaningful book we read it together in front of my husband and he gave us a look like he understood how greatful we are for him (our Daddysaurus❤️)
Huge thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Wonderland for the opportunity to read and review this book with my four year old daughter. We LOVED this book! The colors are so vibrant and she really loved the story, especially finding the Daddysaurus throughout the book! She loved the ending when she could see the full him and even squealed in glee! Highly recommend this book.
My favorite part of this book was the artwork! It definitely describes fathers but I loved the art over the story!
Adorable, heartwarming, and full of dinosaurs -- what more could you ask for in a picture book? A vibrant addition to an already-awesome series, this book will make for a perfect read with Dad this Father's Day!
The How to Catch books are always a fan favorite in my class! How to Catch a Daddysaurus is a sweet book about the special men in our children's lives. It doesn't poke fun at them, it praises them for their love, patience. It is a book that would be great to give as a gift.
The children in the illustrations are more tween/teen than kid. This book is probably aimed at a younger audience, so younger children would have been a little more relatable.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this advance reader copy.
How to Catch a Daddysaurus is an adorable tribute to Father's and is the newest book in the How to Catch series. I found myself that the text might not hold the attention of a younger child well, but would be more suitable for 5+. It would defintely be great as a Fathers Day gift and even has a page for the child to write a note or draw a picture of their Daddysaurus. Overall, it was cute and fits right in with the rest of the series!
Thank you NetGalley, SOURCEBOOKS Kids, and Alice Walstead for this ARC!
The Catch kids are back trying to catch a Daddysaurus, a kind creature. This was really cute, and would be a great father's day gift.
How to Catch a Daddysaurus
3.5 Stars
Daddysarurus is a sweet, fun story. It's a great way to show appreciation for all that dads do. This is my first time reading in the "How to Catch" series. I felt like I was missing something from the start, which leads me to suggest beginning at book 1. I didn't know basic information on the cast of characters, which I could not overlook.
Overall, this is a great book to give dad for a special occasion or a gift for dinosaur-loving kiddos! For me, I didn't find anything to make this book stand out. If anything, I found it wordy and lost interest. The artwork is OK, but didn't hold my attention. Kind of generic.
I received this ARC in exchange for my honest review via NetGalley and SourceBooks Kids.
This was a cute book. I love that it celebrated how wonderful fathers are. I'm not sure why they had to make him a dinosaur, but I haven't read other books in this series, so maybe I just don't get it from reading one of them. The rhymes are a little wordy and a bit clunky, but the illustrations are really great. Bright and beautiful and well done. I'd definitely give this one to my niece.
How to Catch a Daddysaurus is such a fun book, written in celebration of a father. I loved both the art and the story in this. I haven't read the other books in this "How to Catch..." series but I now see why it's one of the most well-received picture book series.
