This is my first book by Stone, but I wasn’t disappointed! It was a quick read because I wanted to see how it would end. (I guessed who Cameron was when he met Melody, but it was a fun read nonetheless). Poor Melody was a little naive, but I enjoyed her character growth as the story progressed. A sweet romance I would feel comfortable with my teenage daughters reading.

A regency book about Melody Foster who is being told who she must marry. Unfortunately she does not like being told who she must marry which is very common for this time in history. Especially when her father tells her she must marry some Scottish man she doesn't even know. So she claims she will never marry anyone without fondness and care!

So she marries her fathers footman except he turns out not to be the man she thought he was. Especially since her family has disowned her without a penny or a dowry. So she gets aid from her former governess and Cameron Findlay. A handsome Scot that feels for this woman’s troubles.

Now she is starting to have feelings for Cam. Can she trust her heart once again after all the betrayal and deception trusting men had done to her in the past? Is real love in her future. Read and discover her fate.

Another fast paced story that regency that Bridgerton fans will absolutely love! A book I highly recommend

I love a good Regency tale and I would say Scotland's Melody by Katie Stewart Stone has all the elements of a good story. A rebellious young lady, an evil villain and a heroic young man all add up to a grand adventure. The characters were likeable and the settings were great. I gave it 4 stars because as much as I enjoyed it I saw the ending much too soon. I do look forward to reading the next book as I want to read Elsie's story.

So brew up some tea and curl up for a very enjoyable read!

I was given a copy of this book with no expectations. All thoughts are my own.

I thought the premise of this story was interesting, but unfortunately it didn't really hit the mark for me. I couldn't invested in it and just didn't feel connected to the characters.

Melody Foster has been allowed every luxury life can give someone except one; to love whom she chooses. However, when her father tells her she is to marry a wild Scot she has never met. Melody decides to take matters into her own hands and decides she will never marry without affection. She chooses to marry Richard, a footman. Which her parents then tell her they will disown her if she marries Richard. Melody decides to go to London to risk for love. When she is blindsided, without a penny to her name her love is worthless to Richard. who decides to change plans. Perhaps she could still serve a purpose—after all, her family can’t sit idly by while she is held for ransom . . .

Desperate to escape the man she thought she loved, Melody finds allies to aid her: first, her old governess and then Cameron Findlay, a handsome stranger who is startled by the distraught young woman who catapulted into his life. Cam finds himself sympathetic to the young woman’s plight, so he and his sister agree to take her on as a servant in their household. Cam and Melody are powerfully drawn to one another, but can Melody ever trust her heart when it was so terribly wrong before?

This was such a sweet proper romance. I enjoyed the Scotland setting and the characters. I thought the author did a really good job making these characters multidimensional and interesting. I also liked that there were a few different twists that did not make it seem like it was just going to be a happily ever after.

Read if you enjoy:
Proper Romance
Family dynamics
Action
Strong FMC

I LOVED this book so much!! If I could give this book a million stars I would, just to convince you to read it. Melody is a character you are literally rooting for from the very start of the book and it only continues throughout. You feel so much empathy for her that you just want to give her a big hug! Cam..Cam…Cam. What can I say about Cam? I just love him! First of all, he is a Scott! Who doesn’t love a Scottsman?? Swooney and those accents. Yes please! His sister is just the best and befriends Melody from the very start (I am hoping she will have her own story because I just adore her). If you haven’t read this, you need to! You can even listen to it and the accents are just the best!

*I received aa copy of this book as an ARC reviewer, but a positive review wasn’t required. All thoughts are solely what I personally thought of this beautiful book.

Scotlands Melody follows a young girl who has just been disowned by her father and made a very bad lapse in judgement with love.

Melody sets out to forge her own way in life but fate has other plans.

Scotland is the last place she thought she would end up.. but maybe it was where she was meant to be along.

I really liked this one! I loved the chemistry between Melody and Cameron. He was so protective and I loved him trying to convince her to marry him. Those moments were the best!

Thank you for the opportunity to read and review this book!

Rating 2-3 stars / It was okay

Such an impetuous main character! My head was spinning as she jumps from one fire into the next. She has learned to mistrust due to her betrayal from the footman, but her immaturity continues to lead her into situations she can't control. I admired her work ethic when staying with her former governess in London, but marveled at her idiocy in not being able to keep herself safe. Cam and his sister Elise were much more likeable, but I struggled to understand what he sees in Melody. The element of danger and hidden identity kept the pace moving forward, but I felt that Cam and Melody's relationship made jumps that didn't feel natural to the characters, especially Cam. I decided to put the book down about halfway through when I felt the discord was overshadowing my reading experience. Other reader friends with similar taste as me really enjoyed the book, so I wouldn't discourage anyone from reading it; it just happened to not be my cup of tea.

I honestly had a hard time finishing this book. I think the concept was cool and I tried to force myself to continue based off of that but the writing and dialogue were so clunky and difficult to get through. It felt like characters just kept over explaining, taking a lot away from conversations and scenes and when the characters weren't over explaining, their dialogue with each other was so unrealistic and clunky. I truly think the author had something with this idea, I just don't think she knew how to execute it properly.

I have to admit that I don't love the cover for Scotland's Melody, but the description pulled me in, and I decided to request it. Of course by the time I was approved to read it, I noticed reviews were starting to come in, and they weren't all high ratings (although I didn't read any of them). So I got a little nervous about Scotland's Melody and put off reading it for quite a while. I started to feel guilty that I was behind on my review books and finally decided to pick this one up. I wasn't disappointed at all.

Melody reminds me a bit of my husband. Although I wouldn't have classified my husband as rebellious when we were dating, I have since learned that he chaffs at rules. Rules of any kind make him want to defy them. And Melody is the same way. Just tell her she can't do something, and you're bound to find out the opposite at some point. Directly, if she can work it that way. And so once Melody's father lets her know he's arranged a marriage for her, she bucks and goes straight into defiant mode. She doesn't consider that her sister(s?) had a happily arranged marriage, so her father obviously puts careful thought into his choices. All Melody knows is that she won't be forced to marry someone she doesn't love. And so she sets out to find love on her own. She even admits through the course of the book that her falling in love with Richard was likely done so to spite her father.

Melody is certain because she followed after Richard and announced to her father that she's marrying a former footman she has burned all bridges with her family. She makes no attempt to return home after she finds out what kind of man Richard actually is. As the description says, Melody seeks help from her former governess, and then one day, literally running from Richard, she jumps inside what she thinks is an unoccupied carriage only to find that it is occupied after all. Occupied by Cam, who is shortly joined by his sister, Elise. Elise decides, almost immediately, that Melody will join their household as a servant to save her from the unsavory men chasing her.

It quickly becomes known that Melody, try as she might, is not cut out to be a maid. And Elise once again schemes for Melody to become her companion. Elise was a favorite part of this whole book. She's always scheming but in a good-natured way. I loved that Cam was usually aware that she was up to something, but instead of scolding her, he chose to have fun with her.

Cam and Melody slowly begin to build trust with each other. (Trust with Elise was almost instant.) I want to discuss their relationship more, but I don't want to spoil anything. I had questions, and my questions were answered. It was one of those too hard to believe, yet I didn't even bother questioning it too much because I was too busy grinning from ear to ear. Melody had a lot of growing to do, and that made the journey that much sweeter.

Favorite quotes:
-It was a lesson I could take away from all this strife: counting our blessings makes our lives a little brighter, even in the darkest moments.

-"You underestimate how long I'm willing to wait for you."

-"Aye, well, love is strange. Sometimes we cannot tell the signs of it and other times we think it is real when it is not. You can never know what someone is thinking, can you?" "It would simplify matters a bit." His expression turned playful. "It would make it all less exciting, though. What is love if not a great mystery to excite the mind, heart, and body."

Scotland's Melody turned out to be better than I was expecting it to be. I think low expectations usually work out that way, but it's hard to go into a book thinking you're not going to like it because then what's the point of picking it up to begin with? In the end, I'm happy that I read Scotland's Melody, and I would love to see Elise get her own book as a companion novel. Scotland's Melody easily gets 4 Stars. Have you read Scotland's Melody? What did you think? Let me know!

Wow! This book is SO GOOD! It is sweet, romantic, heartbreaking, suspenseful, heartwarming, full of hope, and so much more. Whenever I picked up "Scotland's Melody", I was whisked back in time to the Regency Era, and went on such an emotional journey with this story.

This is the first book I have read by Katie Stewart Stone, and it certainly will not be my last. Her writing style is vivid, detailed, visceral, and so full of heart. Her passion for the story she is telling is so clear, as well as her passion for writing in general. As the reader, I was pulled in from the first page to the last, and I simply could not put this book down.

Melody's father has arranged for her to marry a man she has never even met. However, Melody believes she and a man named Richard are meant to be together. Melody runs away, and soon finds out that Richard is not the man he pretended to be, and simply wanted to marry her for her money. Disowned by her father, and in danger, Melody runs after being cornered and chased by Richard trying to find somewhere safe to hide, which ends up being the carriage of a man named Cameron and his sister Elsie. Never could she have imagined how this moment and meeting will change her life, and how, perhaps, it will even tie into her past in one way or another.

(Possible Spoilers!)
Oh my goodness, Melody and Cameron are simply perfect together! They bring out the best in each other, and truly understand one another on such a deep level.

The only reason I rated this book 4/5 stars is due to one part of the very ending. It ends quite openly (and it is a really sharp tone shift), and I hope that Elsie's story is picked up in the next book (along with seeing Melody and Cam again of course!).

If you enjoy Regency Romance, I highly recommend this book! I so hope there is a sequel, and I can't wait to read what Katie Stewart Stone writes next!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Covenant Communications for the ARC of this book, it is incredible! All opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I wish there was more promo for this book. I received an e-copy from #netgalley in exchange for an honest review and was surprised to see very little surrounding this book, this author, and this specific genre on the release date. This author is also not represented at my local library, and the book itself was not in my local bookstore.

While the regency era is dominated by Jane Austen, and as such, it can be hard for modern writers to match that tone, I did find this writing a little too simplistic, but the storyline was well fleshed out, which gave it a good balance. The main character, Melody, takes a moment (maybe 30% of the book) to get somewhat likable, but as an Emma fan, and a fan of some later regency character novels, this worked for me.

I wish more had been done to promote this book and its author. I will try to find a copy of her previous novel.

The story starts with Melody running away from home because her father is forcing her into an arranged marriage. He wants her to marry someone from Scotland who she has never met. Melody wants to marry a person of works for her father. Melody soon learns that her boyfriend is just after money and runs away from him to her old governess. This is story of her misadventures and finding her true love. She ends ups going to Scotland has a companion.

Some of the circumstances in this book seemed rushed and farfetched. I can't imagine a father disowning his own daughter and telling her he never wants to see her again. Nor the reconciliation happening over night. This was a fun read.

I received this book from Covenant Communications via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I was not compensated in any way.

I can't begin to tell you how much I loved this book by @katiestewartstone_author. This book sucked me in from the very first page. I didn't want to stop reading it.

The author did such a great job with Melody's character. Melody is a spirited sort of young woman. She wants her life to be on her own terms. But that ends up leading to heartache and danger for her. She ends up needing someone to rescue her, and that's how she meets Cameron.

I loved the way the author had the whole story told from Melody's point of view. That means that the reader only knows what Melody knows. And she doesn't know the whole story. The flashbacks throughout the book make the picture a bit more complete for the reader. And I loved how the author did that.

This book is so great! You're going to want to read it.

I was sent an e-copy of Scotland's Melody as a gift from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Excellent Scottish sweet romance! I really enjoyed the evolvement of the main characters and the trust and friendship they built their relationship from. Stone wrote real people and real feeling-a winner of a story!

Such a delightful book! We are brought on a journey from England to Scotland and back. We see forbidden love, fighting for honor, and self discovery. Heroes that defeat the villain. There was intrigue and mystery, love and heartbreak. I loved every aspect of this book!

My first book by Katie Stewart Stone and won't be the last! Absolutely a beautiful story of a strong independent young woman with surprise and suspense!

I started this book one day and finished it the next! I was completely taken in with Melody and her situation. She truly was a stubborn young woman and her impetuousness lead to some not so nice consequences that she had to get out of. "When I planned my trip to London, I had meant only to find Richard Cole. I did not expect to be running from him."

In short, Melody falls in love with a footman, refuses the marriage her father has arranged for her to a man in Scotland, her father disowns her and fires the footman, she runs away to London to find the footman, she finds the footman only to discover he never loved her and only wanted her dowry. Now she's running away and hiding from said footman. This does sound like something that would happen to a 19 year old headstrong girl.

I loved Melody's story! I liked that Melody's former governess took her in, and that Melody was willing to learn to clean and cook even if she wasn't very good at it. I was happy she had someone who cared about her and could also give her advice. I LOVED her meet cute with Cameron in the carriage. I thoroughly enjoyed all of her interactions with Cameron and his sister Elsie. I would love to see more of Elsie, especially after the way the epilogue ended!

I thought Melody could be rather funny and her internal dialogue had me giggling to myself quite often. I liked seeing her change and grow as the story progressed. She'd been hurt by Richard's deception and didn't know if she could trust herself again, even though she could see that Cameron was nothing like Richard. I loved watching Melody and Cameron fall in love and was sad when the book ended. Be prepared for a book hangover.
