From the first paragraph this book had me. I loved Elsie and Cameron. The siblings had a wonderful relationship. I enjoyed Melody's character but I also had a few issues with her character. She is fun and independent but she seemed a little wishy washy at times. I loved Cameron's fierce loyalty and love. Overall this is a book I would recommend.
The book was okay. I felt it a title rushed and than a little dragged. However the journey of wanting to make her own way, her strength was rewarding. You will enjoy it for that.
Unfortunately this one didn’t do it for me. I expected something else after reading the blurb and I was disappointed by it. A DNF for me.
Romance, mystery and some surprises all wrapped in one for this lovely book. Katie must learn to trust her heart again after being duped into a false romance, Can Cameron capture her heart? You will be caught up in this read!

I loved this story set in Scotland with the main characters Melody and Cameron finding love in a very unexpected way. I loved the premise, the setting and the characters. It was quite the adventure, and a book I'll definitely be recommending!
This story was not as captivating as I normally enjoy in writing. I’ve been reading a lot of historical romance and this one falls in the middle of them for me. It was sweet and the best part of the novel was Melody’s friendship with Elsie. I love when women can find a true strong friendship with someone. The pacing was good which was welcomed. I love when a book has a good pacing and it doesn’t take forever for the main character and love interest (melody and Cameron) to get together.
Scotland's Melody starts as a young girl trying to avoid an arranged marriage to someone she's never met before. What this becomes is so much more.
I feel like this book is a gift. It is beautiful and adventurous and just a bit off the beaten path. Melody is a character with a lot to learn about life. What is beautiful about her is that she is not afraid to work for what she wants, though her lessons are anything but easy.
Cam is a hero worth reading about. He has humor and a good heart. His sister has a mischievous side that keeps things.
The characters in the story are well developed and the story is everything a good story should be. I was drawn in to the story and loved every minute.
This Regency is 1 part comedy of errors, 1 part mystery, and wholly entertaining. I highly recommend this one.
I received an early copy of the book through the publisher and NetGalley and this is my honest review.
3.5 stars. So, I'm not sure how I felt about this book. I was interested in the premise of this story even if it was a little fantastical, it had potential. The beginning felt super rushed and I already knew how the story was going to end by the first quarter of the book. After that it just kinda turned into prosy "I'm so confused' 'How can I trust?' etc etc. Honestly Melody was not very bright and was a pretty frustrating character for me to root for. Even though they didn't know each other that long, it was very drawn out. I liked the author's writing style, it was well done. I just didn't love the middle section of this book, honestly it could have been 50 pages shorter and been more satisfying. The story ended happily enough. I really liked Cameron he was a sweet character and I enjoyed him. I am intrigued about Elsie's story, I hope there is a book or novella in the future about her.
I received a copy from the publisher for my honest opinion.
In Scotland’s Melody, Stone crafts a delightful tale about a woman who desires to make her own choices and the consequences that come when she does. Readers will surely relate to Melody and her journey in this lovely story about family, regret, fate, and, falling in love.
I received this book from the publisher and NetGalley.
This in no way affects my opinion of this book which I read and reviewed voluntarily.
After reading the synopsis of this book, I knew I had to read it ASAP because it had everything I could ever want in a romance novel.
For example: Scotland. An attempted kidnapping. Arranged marriages. A heroine entering servitude to avoid said arranged marriage.
Melody has everything she could ever want, other than the freedom to marry someone of her choosing. Her father, a wealthy man who earned his money through trade, is determined to elevate their family's standing by arranging a marriage for Melody to someone with a title. Refusing to marry a person she's never met, Melody runs away from home to marry Richard Cole, a former servant at her parents' home she was in love with.
Though everything quickly goes awry when Richard Cole attempts to kidnap her and hold her for ransom.
This book was the first book I'd read by Katie Stewart Stone and I loved it. Not only was great to read a good book, but I loved discovering a new author as well.
Overall, "Scotland's Melody" was absolutely worth reading and I can't wait to read more books by Katie Stewart Stone in the future.
This was a sweet and fun book! It is the first book that I have read by Katie Stewart Stone but I really enjoyed it! I am definitely going to be reading more of her books. Scotland’s Melody is written by Katie Stewart Stone.
Melody was a complicated character. There were times when I was so frustrated with her and her decisions. However she grew on me throughout the book and I love getting to see her grow and mature. Melody was young and in love but she made a mistake however she ended up paying for her mistake.
Cameron was a lovely character. He was so interesting to read about and I loved getting to know him more. He was so complex. However Cameron was kind and I loved how he cared and teased his sister. Cameron had to come to grips with his feelings and learn how to interact with Melody. She was not what he had expected and had changed things.
I adored the romance that grew between Melody and Cameron. It was sweet to read about them connecting and getting to know each other. I love how they became friends first and then they grew to love each other. The plot was interesting and I was really engaged in the story. I wanted to see how Melody and Cameron were going to overcome their differences. There were so many surprises along the way and I loved it!
I love Cameron’s sister and I saw hints of a second book which I am super excited for. Sibling relationships are one of my favorite things to read about and I adored their relationship. I liked the family aspects in this book.
Scotland’s Melody was a wonderful sweet book! I really enjoyed it and I definitely want to read more by this author. Scotland’s Melody is a clean historical romance.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
Melody Foster has been told by her father that he has arranged a marriage for her to a Scot She gets very angry because she was not asked how she felt about it. Her father disowns her. She packs up and leaves. She ends up at her governess's place. All the while the man who betrayed her love is trying to catch her and get money out of her father. On Richard's second attempt at her she dives into a carriage and there is a man inside, but he and his sister help her. She becomes a maid in their household. She is not very good at it and his sister suggests she become a companion to her. She and Elsie spend a lot of time together. As does Cameron when he can.
The main problem is her mind. She seems so confused and she is afraid to love and seems to always be running from something. She runs from her father, then she runs from Richard with good reason and finally she keeps running from Cameron.
It is a well written novel and keeps you entertained. The friendship between the girls is supportive and sweet. Her love for Cameron is real and they must work at it because of her confusion. There are some wonderful witty places in the story I enjoyed it tremendously.
I received this ARC from Net Galley and voluntarily reviewed it.
Melody is headstrong and doesn't like being told what to do. Her father has picked a husband for her, one who helps with his goals. Melody will not abide this, and instead finds herself in scrape after scrape, running from her family.
Cameron is visiting London when a girl's trying to escape a kidnapper falls in his carriage. Is it fate?
This was a fun story, a bit predictable at times. It was enjoyable to watch Melody grow in wisdom and understanding, to realize what is most important, and to humble herself.
I really enjoyed this book. Katie Steward Stone is a need to me author and she did not disappoint. I loved the lesson learned that we should hold judgment until we have actually experienced something and not rely too heavily on others opinions. There were some fun twists and turns and is just an all around great book!
2.5 stars.
I thought this book had some solid plot points and character ideas, but the storytelling was simple and choppy. The lack of description when it came to setting and character development made it seem as though I was reading something that approached a dream with the lack of detail and the feeling of jumping to the next part of the story without any explanation.
Some chapters were better and felt more polished, but many needed more description to ground the reader in the scene and to help the characters to be more consistent and likeable.
The main character, Melody, was melodramatic and selfish. I liked the realizations she had about her character at the end, but I didn't feel as though she had really changed. There was a lot of telling, but without showing, many ideas just didn't have the support they needed for me to "buy-in".
The kisses almost worked for me, but because the chemistry was mostly based on physical attraction, they did not satisfy.
The cover is very beautiful but based on the picture of Melody playing the harp and the title: Scotland's Melody. I was disappointed that Scotland and Melody's musical abilities didn't play more important roles.
Overall, I think the story has good bones and some nice theme ideas but failed to connect the dots into a journey that was compelling.
I liked the epilogue, as it gave a great closing image to Melody and Cameron's story, while also setting up the next book perfectly.
Okay first of all...what a perfect name for the book? Her name is Melody and it's Scotland!
This book makes me wish I was in Scotland. I fell more in love with the country than I already was! It was lovely. Immediately after I finished I went back and read my favorite parts.
I loved the characters and seeing them grow and change as the story progressed and how Melody figured out who she is.
I really enjoyed this book by Katie Stewart Stone. It is the story of Melody, who refuses to be married to a Scottish man in an agreement made by her father. She falls in love with a footman, and runs to London to be with him. I admire her independence, but she sure was naïve about the realities of life!!
Scotland is one of my favorite settings, so I was a bit disappointed that we didn't get more of the feel of Scotland. The Scottish dialogue was inconsistent, sometimes it felt authentic but other times is was nonexistent. Similarly, the dialogue often felt out of place for the time period.
But overall, I loved the banter between Melody and Cameron. I loved Melody's growth as a character. And I loved the message of family.
I recommend this to anyone who loves a case of hidden identity, sweet flirtation, and fate!
Thank you to NetGalley, Covenant Communication, and Katie Stewart Stone for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest opinions.

- Hidden Identity
- Banter and Flirt
- Quick-paced plot
- Cast of Characters
- Irony
This book was just what I needed. Sweet, light-hearted, and well-paced, Scotland’s Melody was a great read and intro to this author's writing style for me.
I enjoyed the main characters, Cameron and Melody. Cameron was the ideal lead for a hero, being level-headed and flirty at turns, I loved the fact that even though this story is told completely from Melody’s POV, you can clearly see his thoughts and feelings and how deep they ran for Melody. Melody grew on me as the story went on. She’s strong-willed, impulsive, and witty which made for some funny moments. To be honest, there were a few parts that I felt she needed to pause and think about her actions before making decisions, but that was her personality and it was clearly seen from the get-go.
While I would have liked to see both characters undergo a bit more growth, I was overall satisfied with the dynamic and the romantic tension between the two. The swoon factor was present every time they were together, and I loved they brought out the in each other. I enjoyed their relationship and found Melody’s hesitation to pursue it realistic-considering her experience with love before. This made for a back and forth that served the angst needed to give this story needed to round it off.
While this is a historical romance, I liked the author's modern voice and felt it worked well with the story and didn't take away from the reading experience, it even added to the humor factor. I loved the irony woven through the plot. I liked the secondary characters as well, even though the villain kept showing up at the most untimely moments. My favorite secondary character was Elsie, Cameron’s younger sister. She was a ray of sunshine and I need her to get her own story. The potential there is for a second book! I love the setup already.
If you're in the mood for a page-turning, swoony read with plenty of Scottish vibes, this one is for you!
*I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
This was a sweet love story set in two of my favorite places, London and Scotland! The writing was simple and the story moved quickly, making this an easy and fast read!
I felt like the story almost moved too quickly at times, and wished for a bit more character development. But overall, an enjoyable and stress free read!
I'm always a fan of anything set in Scotland, and love a good romance while I'm at it! This book was a good match for me in that way. I enjoyed the ease with which I was able to read - the authors writing style is smooth and easy to follow. I read this one quickly because it moved at a good clip and the character development was well-paced. I really enjoyed the romance between Melody and Cam, though sometimes it felt predictable between the two. As a history major, I feel like there were some inconsistencies in wording/thoughts and behaviour for the period, yet I also can't be too picky as this was not meant to be a hard-hitting historically accurate book.
Overall a quick, cozy and sweet read full of learning moments
