Great to see a leadership book not focused entirely on growing the business and expanding ideas of how to be better in today's business world. The perspective around relationships and connecting the workplace is refreshing.
Thank you to NetGalley and Advantage Media Group for providing me with an electronic advance reader copy.
"Chase Greatness" by Rajeev Kapur is an exceptional book filled with insightful life observations and management narratives. It's a must-read for anyone in a position of authority, offering valuable insights into navigating the modern corporate environment and understanding why many organizations struggle. Kapur emphasizes the importance of empathy and selfless leadership in inspiring employees and enhancing organizational health. He provides practical advice for success and positive impact. This book is essential reading for leaders seeking to stay relevant and effective in today's business landscape.
This was a great book, and should be read by everyone in a management position. Rajeev Kapur put together this book to inspire people to be better leaders, not only because it’s good for society, but it’s good for business as well. The chapters are organized with his main points, and then at the end gives a real life example of leadership and easy-to-absorb-take-away notes.
I am not even in a leadership position and feel it was a good book to absorb, because you never know what leadership position you may end up with someday! The only slight downside I found to the book were a few examples that haven’t aged well in the past couple of years (e.g. Elon Musk) but of course no one can predict the future and the examples he gave were good at the time of writing.
Please, please, please read this if you are in a leadership position. He basically says don’t be a jerk and be kind to your employees because they are actual human beings. I think our capitalist society could do better with these messages being at the forefront of everyone’s leadership.
Leadership is necessary for any organization to succeed. Someone must take the reins and assist people in the organization in seeing the 5 principles Mr. Kapur has outlined.
Gratitude.
Resilience.
Empathy.
Accountability.
Transparency.
By learning these principles one can become effective and seen as a leader in the future. Bring these principles into your own organization no matter the size to see that together is better than alone and the organization can excel.
Appreciated the stories and examples though wasn't too useful for me. Would recommend to people who I think can benefit from this book.
Thank you for an advanced copy of this book. I generally found the career suggestions useful, though they weren't always relatable for me personally.
This business book is surprisingly well-written while being packed with statistics, examples, stories, and questions to ask yourself and/or your team. I especially appreciate how the author explains that generational behavior of disengaging from the workplace, not because of the reasons we get fed by the media but because of IMO extremely valid reasons like values matter and companies put profits over their people and the world they live in. I've already started going back to highlight references.
While the book had a lot of great stories and advice, it felt dated already due to the references to the pandemic.
Unfortunately, some of the people the author chose to highlight as enlightened leaders have turned out to be the opposite. The book doesn't age well.
Chase Greatness challenges leaders to walk the talk and recognize that they lead people and in relationship with people you have to lead in a way that engages and builds trust. The author shares some key areas that speak especially to today's work generations but the truth is the characteristics are ageless in an empowering leader who seeks to build trust with their teammates.
The book is written in a readable style and is good reading for anyone new to management or for those who need a brush up on engaging their teams and building trust.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Review:
This book talks about how to become a great leader and how to achieve greatness. I really loved reading this book. I’ll be reading it more in my life. I have never had an interest in being a leader or a manager. This book makes me reconsider that. It makes me feel like I could achieve great things. I guess that’s the point of the book. I fully recommend this book. Especially for those looking to lead.
Chase Greatness is about following the principles of an Enlightened Leader. This means encouraging employees to be their best while acting ethically and taking into account the world around you. I love this concept of holistic leadership. It gives wonderful food for thought about how we lead.
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC. All thoughts are my own.
