A Hate Like This was the second book in A Gamble on Love Mom-Com written by Whitney Dineen & Melanie Summers. I loved all the witty dialogue and the characters. This was a funny, light, low-angst, and easy book to read. I sped through the book and couldn't put it down until after I had finished it. It was entertaining and I hope to read more of the series in the future.

What a lovely fun book this is! I thoroughly enjoyed it. I love the Alaska and LA scenes, and the love story feels very real. The way they talk about their feelings is unusual for a romance, but the romance is even more special after they work through the issues. 4.5 stars.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

Book review:

"A Hate Like This" is the second book in A Gamble on Love Mom Com. The narration of the story makes you turn the page on and on to know what happens next.

Moira is a single mother of three rowdy boys. So Moira lost her husband to a hosting accident and is now trying to be mom and dad to her 3 boys while trying to run her dinner.

Ethan is an entertainment lawyer and he needs a break from his world so he heads to Gamble for a sabbatical of sorts , to write a novel and spend time with his best friend who is now happily married to Moira’s brother.

They are also two people who have been badly hurt by people in their past. So when Ethan takes Moira to his home in LA for a fabulous vacation, she doesn't trust that she's "good enough" for him. And when she tells him as much, he thinks she doesn't love him enough! It's ok-they get their "happy ever after" in the end.

Overall,This is a well written story which is fun, and entertaining, with family, friendships, humor, witty banter, and love, which leads to a heartwarming and compelling page turner.

I loved it. I liked how Moira and Ethan met and fell for each other. It wasn't an instant love story and that made it even better. Moira was resistant to Ethan at first but he won her over eventually. It was a great twist on the single mom trope, with a Hollywood aspect added to it. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.

I could not put this down, it is a highly addictive rom com that I fell in love with. With just the right amount of humour and romance. The characters are relatable and the plot believable. A strong single working mother and a hot bachelor. What more could a girl want. Brilliant novel!

Most readers have times when they wish they could visit a place in a book, and this is a series that has created one of those places. Gamble Alaska is a quite a place! The characters are adorably wonderful, with a dialogue and action to match.

This book was too cute and for a good portion of it, I was smiling and laughing so hard my cheeks started hurting. The plot was very fast-paced and I felt like I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. between the humor, angst, and conflict, and passion this book has it all. i absolutely cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

Thank you to Netgalley and Xpresso Book Tours for the E-Arc. I was so happy when I got this book after I read Book 1 of this Mom Com Series and let me tell you Moira and Ethan did not disappoint. I loved how organic their relationship was. I loved how they portrayed Moira insecurities about being a single mom and about mom burn out cuz as a single mom that has a village and a good co-parenting relationship it still gets to be too much. I read this in like 4 hours I was so invested in it.

In this book, we have Moria a single mom with three boys whose husband died while she was pregnant with her twin boys, and her one son was three. Now she has picked up the pieces and runs her diner and with the help of family and friends, she is making it in a small town in Alaska.
Enter Ethan who has decided to put his career as an entertainment attorney on hold and write a book. He decides to do it in Gamble Alaska since that is where his friend is and where she will be getting married soon to Moria’s brother. When he enters her dinner he is attracted to her and decides to rent a table from her while he is there. Which helps him write but also gets him a close-up of the action that takes place with her and the people and her sons. He then helps her brother with working on her home and wanting to be in her and the boy's life. Not knowing what they are doing they agree to practice dating. He has told her he is not looking for a relationship because his last one ended badly. This for me again is where everything goes wrong with the story. When her son wins tickets for a Dodger game in L.A. they all go she pays for herself and her twins and they stay at Ethan’s place which is grand. They have a good time and when one night she makes a move toward him he shuts her down. Now afterward when they go to the game Ethan flirts with another woman a model and by the time they get back to his place and then leave for Alaska they are not talking. Of course, everyone is blaming Moira at least that is the way I took it but he still never spoke to her about his feelings for her. Even days later when she decides to call him he does not answer his phone yet this is all still her fault at no time does he really say anything it is like she does all of the talking and apologizing I am sorry my daughters would have told him to kick rocks. Then the story wraps up as everyone would imagine. I just think a woman like her would want more communication from him especially when he said earlier in the story he did not want a relationship, I even went back and re-read it a few times to make sure. Sorry, as much as I liked the characters I did not like the ending.

This is one of those books that will catch your attention as soon as you start reading and will essentially keep you glued all the way through. It's a heartwarming story that will also put a smile on your face and make you laugh. Moira is a widowed, hard-working mom with 3 boys. Ethan is an entertainment lawyer and is looking for a little respite from his world. He decides to head to Gamble for a break and spend time with his best friend who is married to Moira's brother, and also try maybe writing a novel. Ethan is immediately attracted to Moira and wants to get to know her. When the opportunity presents itself, he jumps at the chance to host Moira and her family in LA and get to know her better. Both have been hurt in the past and it was wonderful to see their relationship evolve and for them to learn to overcome their doubts and fears trust each other.
I absolutely loved the characters, well-developed and endearing and you can't help but fall in love with them. Their interactions and witty banter simultaneously melted my heart and made me laugh. Adorably fun and cute, this was the perfect addition to a great series. Highly recommended!

Good story, intriguing hook. Plot device of small-town nowhere Alaska is overused and ignores the isolation and lack of access most of Alaska really has, but hey, it's fiction, right?

⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read if you like:
- diner drama
- small town life
- second chance love

Moira is a single mother to 3 rowdy boys, runs the only diner in town to support her family, and her house is falling apart around her! She made a promise to her big brother Digger that if he gets married, then she will put herself back out there and find someone new after the death of her husband. And her brother is here to collect on his side: It’s time to find Moira a man!
Ethan’s best friend is getting married to Moira’s brother and he swoops in at just the right time to give Moira a little of what she needed.
I could really relate to this book. I am not a single mom, but can totally relate to just wanting to do the very best for your kids. Moira has to play mom and dad to her boys, and she is just trying to make them happy and maybe also get a little happiness for herself…
I found the characters extremely likeable! Obviously how could I not like Moira, but I also really liked Ethan and wanted to see him get his second chance at life as well!
Thank you so much to Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for an honest review 💕

Moira is a single mom to three boys. Ethan is a lawyer. I really enjoyed reading their journey together. This book was fun and kept me reading to the end. This book was well written with solid characters and good conflict. I would definitely read another book by these authors.

While it was a sweet and super cute romance between Moira and Ethan however, I wish there was a good sex scene. I feel like this story needed some spice. The big conflict in the end was a little to manufactured ..both parties were totally wrong but they could have cleared it up with a conversation. Instead it was made into a thing for a couple of chapters.

Cute story:
This was a good addition to what is turning out to be a fun and entertaining series. It was a sweet, cute and clean romance with quite a bit of emotional angst.
Ethan and Moira had a lot of ups and downs and at times I thought the conflict was overstretched and could have been easily resolved. Personally I thought the story could have done with more humour/lighter moments or some spice to make things more exciting. However I was pleased with the outcome and glad that these two finally sorted things out.

This is really a wonderful romance book! Ethan is a successful entertainment lawyer, who is taking a break in Alaska for a few months to work on a book. He has rented a house in the small town where his sister found romance in an earlier book of the series. Moira is the widowed struggling single Mom of three cute boys, who owns the diner in her small Alaskan town. While their lives are very different, they both value family and romantic love. Both of the characters are very engaging, the supporting characters are likeable, the romance flows naturally and the HEA was great. (This book has no explicit sex scenes.) I enjoyed reading their dual points of view as the plot unfolded. Even when I wanted to smack Moira on the back of her head and tell her to stop creating problems for herself, I still couldn’t wait to read the next chapter of this romance book. I immediately pre-ordered the next book in the series. Highly recommended! I received an advance copy of this book for free and am leaving this review voluntarily.
