I was lucky enough to get to listen to the audiobook version of this book through Netgalley. I thoroughly enjoyed the story and the characters. It is one of those thrillers that you can read and relax because you don't have to keep track of every little detail that may be important later. The plot also has some twists which I always look for in a good thriller. The narrator, Katie Villa, does an excellent job with the different characters' voices and giving certain characters slight accents that weren't too thick so that the reader could still easily understand.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture Audio for giving me the chance to listen and review!

What happens when the past comes knockinggggggggg…?
Read if you like:
- Shalini!
- twists
- past/present points of view
- clean, flowing writing style
This book is classic Shalini, and I liked it a lot. Apparently it was originally self-published but it was so good that it was picked up by Bookouture 🤪 YAS Shalini way to go!
This book jumps back and forth between past and present, which I love as it allows me to put all the pieces of the story together before the end is revealed. There were so many twists in this book that I did not see coming! I love that. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time, and I couldn’t wait to race through to the end.
The only thing I didn’t love is that I listened to this in audiobook form, and when there’s jumping back and forth with the story it’s really hard to keep track of what time period you’re in. If you miss something small you can miss a major part of the story.
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Bookouture for my ARC audiobook in exchange for an honest review 💕
So off the bat high five to the author for, despite naming the book exactly what you would if it were about gaslighting a woman with mental health issues, DID NOT DO THAT.
I liked the plot of this story more than the execution I think but regardless it was a solid read. I like when authors play with the idea of what humans are capable of in dire situations and I would’ve loved more of an expansion on that aspect of this novel but I liked the use of this as a plot tool.
I also found the author made it believable that the wife wouldn’t have told her husband right away which is RARE. Usually mystery thrillers are wholly based on a tiny miscommunication that should’ve been discussed but in this case if I were the wife I wouldn’t be telling my husband either.
The secondary “twist” hit me out of the blue and I didn’t really think it was necessary but I think some readers will be like WHAT. Oh you got me there. 😂
AUDIBLE BOOK - listening length - 7 hours 25 minutes
THE MILLIONAIRE'S WFE by Shalini Boland
NARRATOR - KATIE VILLA
I loved this audible book. Narrator was excellent, voice changes, tension, pacy, so good! Got caught up in the characters, I was shouting ''don't do it'' and a lot more! I did enjoy the plot, albeit predictable in parts, it was still exciting to listen to this audible book. I would recommend this audible book.
I give a 4-star rating for the narrator!
I WANT TO THANK NETGALLEY FOR THE OPPORTUNITY OF READNG AN ADVANCED COPY OF THIS BOOK FOR AN HONEST REVIEW.
Great book. Kept me guessing throughout the entire book! I enjoyed how it flipped between past tense and present tense to give you a better understanding of the story. Definitely will read more of her writing in the future.

This is the story of high-school sweethearts Anna and Finn.
Anna defies all odds and gives up family and a future to make a life with Finn.
When things get tough and reality sets in, Finn concocts a plan to get rich.
What follows is a twisted tale of suspense and revenge as Anna fights to survive and protect the ones she loves from the evil that is playing out from a sick mind.
This was an ALC. The narration was good. The story was quite entertaining.
I really enjoyed this audiobook! I found the plot to be different enough from most thrillers to be interesting. I was blown away by one of the twists… definitely didn’t see it coming! I did feel the story got less exciting after the initial twist and the final 20-25% of the story for me was not as captivating once everything had been explained. I would be interested in reading more by this author!
Anna Blackwell's Past: She skipped university to be with her boyfriend, Fin. Dirt poor and barely scraping by, Fin comes up with a "plan" for how him and Anna can be together, and be rich.
Anna Blackwell's Present: She is happily married to her millionaire husband, Will. Her life seems perfect, except for all those secrets she is hiding.
When her past comes knocking, Anna must face those secrets she has kept from Will, and the repercussions of those secrets. The Millionaire's Wife was a twisty, fast-paced book that had me finding reasons to keep listening and guessing to the very last page (I seriously thought Will was in on it until the very last page). I did NOT see the involvement of Anna's best friend, but I did guess Fin was behind the murder.
Overall, I enjoyed this audiobook and it definitely won't be my last book by Shalini Boland.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC of the audiobook which will be released in September 2022.
“Can you ever really know the ones you love?
After seeing a news report about the death of a woman on the other side of the world, Anna Blackwell realises that her past has caught up with her. That her greatest fear is about to come true. That it’s her turn next.
Uncover a web of lies and deceit in this chilling, twisty suspense thriller.”
It’s been awhile since I’ve read anything murder-y.
During Covid I was on a strict diet of HEA.
This book was a good reintroduction to the genre.
It wasn’t as good as some others (Falling, The Girls on the Train), but I did enjoy it.
I can’t say I liked Anna, (or many of the characters, really), and I found the plot a bit of a stretch, but I enjoyed the pacing, and it was just twisty enough to keep me flipping pages.
6.5/10
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this ARC.
As I was listening to this book, I kept thinking it seemed vaguely familiar, and I finally realized I had listened to it some years ago. However, the plot is so compelling and the narrator so excellent, that I was happy to listen to it again. (Also, because I read many books of this type and seem to have a mind like a sieve, it seemed pretty much new and fresh to me!) It's wonderfully suspenseful and beautifully written. I remember liking it so much years ago that it set me on a kick of reading other Shalini Boland books. Anyway, I highly recommend this audiobook and thank NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the chance to listen to this wonderful book (again)!
I don't think this author is capable of writing a bad book! I have loved everything she has written. This is a great, quick book to read!
The Millionaire’s Wife is the first book I have read by the author, but it certainly will not be the last. I know everyone is going to compare it to Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train, and others, but I do not think it measures up to those, however. Too many books like to tout those words, but not every book is equal. It is a great suspenseful mystery though and will keep you turning the pages late into the night. I listened to this in one sitting.
Anna Blackwell is married to her husband Will happily, until the day she gets a message telling she is going to be next after a murder is committed. Anna’s world gets turned upside down when she realizes her past may be coming back to haunt her. In an earlier life that Anna wishes to forget, she with a man who was trouble. Troubled. Dangerous. And now she knows her past is involved in the crime and trying to get back into her present. How will she be able to protect her friends and family? Her secrets are going to come out, but will they all survive unscathed?
I really liked this book, and I was a joy to listen to. I would like to thank the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I liked this book but definitely didn't love it. I was easily drawn into the story and it kept my interest for most of the book. Unfortunately, the plot just became too outlandish for me, making the ending unsatisfying. This was my first book by this author and while it wasn't my favourite, I would still try another book by her.
This audiobook was perfect for me at this time of my life as I've been unwell and I've found listening easier than reading. I found the narrator to be very good, but, although I usually like Shalini Boland's books, I was not very keen on this one. The story seemed a bit too improbable, in my opinion, definitely not her best, but nonetheless a few hours of entertaining listening.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for providing me with an ALC in exchange for an honest review.
This is not my typical genre choice, but I truly enjoyed listening to this audiobook!
The twists and turns in this story were well done; some were what I expected and others were so shocking that I actually gasped.
I do find it a little unbelievable that Ana hadn't shared more with her husband about the trauma she experienced while dating Finn. It just seems to me like that would leave some lasting marks on the way she interacts with a lover and therefore would be difficult to hid from her husband.
I would, and have, recommend this book to people who like a twisted story.
I received a free copy of the audiobook in exchange for my honest review. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity!
I really enjoyed this book- there were a lot of great twists and turns that kept me guessing, and just when I thought I had everything figured out, I discovered something new. Boland really writes a great villain, and I thought the struggles the main character underwent with the people in her life were realistic and nuanced. A lovely read.
When your past comes knocking!
Anna seems to have it all. She is happily married to her husband, Will and they have a wonderful marriage and life together. However, this all changes in an instant when Anna gets a text message that threatens to destroy her entire world. A world she thought was behind her is now knocking on her door.
This book presents the plot through the past as well as the present. In the past, Anna was in a relationship with Finn, which left her missing something. A love and stability that she could never really attain. But when Finn makes a shocking proposition and a solution to all of their issues, Anna knows that there is no future for her with Finn.
But Finn returns to Anna's life after her marriage to Will and everything she thought she knew is now in question.
The audiobook version of this book was great. There are twists in this book that I was not expecting. This is not my first read from this author and I continuously enjoy her work. I would definitely recommend her and this book to others.
Thank you to Bookouture Audio and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is fast-paced with a lot of suspense and it will keep readers entertained. I liked the parts that took place in the wilderness. The descriptions bring you right into the setting. The narrator does a great job of adding to the intrigue and tension. I wish there had been some more surprises at the end.
