This book started off strong with a death of someone you don’t know. Then you are thrown into the MC’s life and you’re jostled between past and present day, which was confusing in the beginning. I will say it worked well for a domestic thriller but it lacked depth in character development. I felt like it jumped around a lot.
I listened to this book and the narration was okay. I think if you’re looking for an easy quick read where you don’t have to think too much then this is the book for you.
Although this is a older book, an audiobook of it is now releasing and I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of the audiobook via Netgalley.
I found this psychological thriller to be very well narrated. It kept me intrigued and on the edge of my seat the entire time.
This story follows our MC, Anna, travel through a life were her past is coming to haunt her.
While i found this novel/audio to be well done, i rates only 3 stars because it just wasn’t for me in terms of story line and plot.
Well read audiobook and one that I enjoyed reading in 2018.
Good and twisty plot line, as one has come to expect from this author and the narrator added to the story bringing the characters to life.
Ending third of the book was a little difficult to feel real as the story and possibilities of the wrongdoings of the characters became wilder, however a good end and I enjoyed listening.
Thanks to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to listen to this book in exchange for an honest review.
Seems like the secrets just keep popping up in the story.
Somehow the past keeps on catching up with Anna Blackwell. She is a very happily married lady now, married to a man she adores who also happens to be ultra wealthy. Life is ever so good until it isn't. When death comes to her door, she, in her heart who the murderer, her ex boyfriend. When he contacts her, she knows he is knows he just might come for her next. When he does, it's with a plan he had hatched for them when they were a couple, and it seems he is intent on them carrying it out.
This book flips back and forth between the past and now, and while it does present a few twists, it was in a sense disappointing, since the reader will puzzle out the outcome.
I was able to listen to the audio version of this story and the narrator did a fine job of keeping the story going. All in al, this was not a boring book, but one where the surprises were limited and the outcome guessed way before the ending.
Thanks to Shalini Boland, Bookouture Audio, and NetGalley for this story publishing this week.
My first Shalini Boland and definitely not my last. I was lucky enough to be granted an early listen to the audiobook edition of The Millionaire's Wife.
It is written across two timelines, ten years apart, both from the protagonist's point of view. I enjoy fast paced thrillers, full of secrets, suspense and intrigue, and this one ticks all those boxes. It also had a brilliant twist around midway I did not see coming.
The narration by Katie Villa was superb and really helped bring the book come to life.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for this ARC.
Publication date is 19th September, 2022.
What happens when the one you love turns out to be not at all what they presented to you to be? And, what happens when you share those fears with your best friend? A dark dark twisty novel is what happens. Thanks to NetGalley for the read.
Anna’s perfect life is being taken apart and soon it will be completely destroyed if she doesn’t do something to stop it. She needs stop him.
Ten years ago, Anna and Fin fell in love with each when she was fifteen. In fact, Anna couldn’t fathom leaving Fin behind to attend university so she stayed home to live him after high school. They had an unbreakable bond or so she thought. Fin had a few crazy get rich ideas that Anna thought were just big talk. Before a better future could be planned another decision had to be made that altered the direction of there relationship.
It’s currently 2017 and Anna is married to Will. Anna has a few secrets she kept from Will. Unfortunately, the past and present are about to collide. Pieces of the past interlock and coincide with the present shedding light on who Anna was before she met Will.
Suspenseful ✔️thrilling✔️mysterious✔️dangerous✔️
I listened to The Millionaire’s Wife using the Netgalley app. I already own the ebook having read it long before an audiobook was available. I enjoyed revisiting this book listening to Katie Villa perform it in its entirety. Her feminine English British voice enhanced my listening experience. Katie has 10 years experience as a voice actor.
There’s so much to talk about in The Millionaire’s Wife, yet I feel I can’t say much without giving too much away. I want readers to be as surprised as I was. Shalini Boland had some very clever twists and turns along the way. The story was thrilling and exciting and a bit scary at times.
More than anything the plot was well executed and well written. Shalini Boland has become my go-to psychological thriller author. I’ve read all fifteen books she’s released in this category.
There’s nothing better than having a well written story and an experienced voice actor together bringing life to the characters and the story.

What a fantastic book! keeps you gripped from the start until the very end! OMG that ending did NOT expect that.
Wow what a ride! This story pulled me in from the beginning, I didn’t know what yo think or believe, this characters kept me on my toes tell the very end!
The plot of this psychological thriller focuses on deceit, lies and historical events coming back into the present. Shady, unreliable characters keep the audience compelled to know more. This narration is engaging, pulling me in from the beginning and spitting me out by the end! I was able to complete this over a weekend but would have finished soon if my other commitments allowed.
The plot twists and unexpected conclusion makes this a great listen. As expected from this genre, the suspense is of a high standard, making this a recommended read in any format.
This is my first book by this author and I'm a big fan!
The story flicks between present day and to the past at different stages of Anna meeting Finn and their relationship together. I really enjoyed getting to see why Anna was so worried and what sort of man Finn was.
The Millionaire’s Wife is a nail biting, edge of your seat read. I couldn’t sit still as I was dying to see how everything was going to end. I loved how the author throws some unexpected surprises in just to keep you on your toes whilst thrilling and exciting you to the max. What can I say apart from that I loved it. Psychological thriller fans, you have got to read this book!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
Another great thriller from Shalini.
Focusing on the life of Anna; blending moments of her past and present until they catch up with each other. This is a gripping look at how toxic relationships unfortunately aren't always over if and when you walk away.
Filled with a number of twists and turns, while I worked out the final twist before the end, I thought it was still a refreshing take on what seemed to initially be a stalker ex-esk story.
One to read if you love thrillers or want something to help you go that extra mile on your morning run if you do audio version like me.

I just reviewed The Millionaire's Wife by Shalini Boland. #TheMillionairesWife #NetGalley
I loved this audiobook! Perfect if you are looking for a shorter (7 hour) book with lots of twists and turns. The story itself had dual timelines most of the way through, basically 2 years apart and mostly told from the main characters’ point of view. The desperation and intensity built nicely as the story went on. A couple of twists towards the end added some fun. The narrator did a great job with the characters. The tension and pace in her voice was portrayed perfectly. I found myself getting anxious (in a good way).
Thankyou to NetGalley and Bookouture Audio for the ARC and the opportunity to review.
Looooved this audiobook. I'm a big fan of the author and all her work but this narrator made this book even better.
Great characters and strong plot.
Anna Blackwell is a happily married woman. Her husband Will is a millionaire but that is certainly not the reason she married him. She married him for love and their marriage is doing well. However, a single email starts Anna on a path of fear and recrimination. In a panic, she approaches Will and begs to go away for awhile. Perhaps to Sweden where she is from. As a businessman, Will does not have time to go away at present, so Anna feels even more desperate.
The email Anna received brings back a past that she knows for certain is due to a previous relationship she had with Fin. Now in contact with Anna again, Fin plies her with more emails, as well as phone calls. This presents Anna will guilt and shame, as well as fear, regarding secrets of their past that she thought was behind her.
As this story is told in dual timeline fashion, we learn about Anna and Fin's previous relationship and how the two struggled. In fact, it was due to their struggles that place Anna's life in jeopardy now Fin expects something from Anna and it is something she refuses to comply with. Thus, Anna's normal, happy life is about to be turned upside down.
The Millionaire's Wife was an absolutely thrilling book! I had this book as an audiobook which was excellently narrated by Katie Villa. It was so easy to sense Anna's fears and shame, all while leaving me to wonder how things would work out in the end. This book was so good that I listened to it in one sitting! I simply could not stop, not even to hit pause. Shalini Boland is an excellent author who always manages to write captivating thrillers, books that make you feel for the characters, all while sensing the dangers within.
Many thanks to Bookouture Audio and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

Anna seems to have the perfect live. Then one day she receives an email with a shocking photo and message attached. A woman has been killed and she know exactly who did it. And Anna is now in danger.
I was expecting so much with this book after reading the blurb and even the beginning was gripping. Then I feel the story went outside the realms that fiction allows. Quite implausible, and I found myself skim reading just to get to the end. 3 stars.
A provocative psychological thriller that kept me captivated until the very end. A story about a married couple, that it seems like it was a competition about who has the darkest secrets. I listened to the audiobook version and the narrator was on point.
Disclaimer: Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this Audiobook, I received review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The Millionaire's Wife by Shalini Boland is a heart-wrenching story of love, betrayal, and secrets. Told from the dual perspectives of Anna ten-years apart, the novel provides a rich and layered exploration of the events that have led to her current situation.
The story begins with Anna receiving an email from an unknown sender, containing a shocking image. This image leads her to realize that she knows who killed the woman in the picture - her first love, Finn. To protect herself and her husband Will, she must tell him the truth about her relationship with Finn. However, as she begins to reveal her secrets, Anna realizes that she is not the only one who has been living a lie.
This book is an excellent example of how a powerful and compelling story can be told through the eyes of a character who is facing an extremely difficult situation. The author does an excellent job of creating a believable and sympathetic protagonist, which makes the reader feel invested in her story.
The narration is strong and really enhances the story. The narrator does a great job of differentiating between the characters' voices and creating a sense of tension and suspense. This is a well-written and well-performed audiobook that will keep listeners engaged until the very end.
The Millionaire's Wife is an intense and gripping read that will keep readers hooked until the very end. The characters are well-developed and believable, and the plot is full of twists and turns.
I listened to it all in one sitting. I can't recall the last time I tried such a task. Unfortunately, I did this while my husband wasn't home and would not recommend doing this - the book gets creepy at times and I'm startled easily.
Highly recommend.
Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture for this ARC up for republication.
This new (to me) author does not disappoint! The first twist comes about halfway through the book and they keep on coming! I’ll just say this…be careful who you marry..,
