I absolutely devoured this series! I loved it so much, I wish it had more depth though and maybe even another book for added world building. I thought about these characters for weeks afterwards and I still do! Love love love!
I wish this would have been more about the actual world itself, because I think that's what's missing in the series. But here I go, on to the last one!
Amazing writer with a gift for drawing her readers into a fantasy world of magic and romance. As always, I will be recommending her books to my friends, customers, and fellow book lovers.
Be still my heart! The book i didnt know i wanted, but desperately devoured! I absolutely loved Des' perspective! It made the moments that made me fall in love him all the more deeper and moving. Love, love, loved!
Glad to have finally gotten more of Desmond's backstory and POV throughout the events so far of the series. Hoping book 4 will be a dual POV. Absolutely loved Des' mother very sad she died. Wanted a little bit more with the brotherhood Des not taking the role of leader and his relationship with man how ultimately would fell kind flat. Especially since in book 2 when they have a reunion it seems they were close and he was important to Des and in the backstory it's a tell instead of show moment.
Loved this newly revised edition of The Emperor of Evening Stars. Now we get a book following the story of how Des came to be the King of Night and how he found his mortal soulmate.
Some part of me is glad to see these books getting a proper release, I was fond of them a few years ago when they first came out and this was much more my style of reading. My tastes have adapted since then and that I came away from this series a little disappointed in the same way I can be with YA as a whole these days. I think that mostly is a reflection on my reading tastes, but I hope to see the other books in this series get some editing and TLC as they convert to traditional publishing. The cover art is a lovely touch, while hearkening back to the original design, which I appreciated. These books make an easy recommendation for serial Maas or Holly Black readers.
