"Isle of the Dragons" is a literary gem that promises an unforgettable journey into a world where dragons soar and dreams take flight.
I really loved the steampunk games of thrones meets how to Train your dragon. I love love love the dragons, the isle, the magic and the adventures. The determination of the characters and how rich was the world building. I really enjoyed that the story was fast paced but in a way that you can still understand and enjoy the development and the characters that are introduced throughout.
If you love magic, dragons and a story packed with adventure, you should pick this one up.
~3.5
Was excited to read this follow up ….. had enjoyed the first book in the series so I was thrilled to read the next book in the series. This book improved on the previous book, it had a great plot wonderful story telling.
Super adventurous young adult novel. It follows on from the first book amazingly but cannot be read as a standalone novel. This book would be great to read to elementary and middle school kids.
I have not read the first book however, after reading this one, I hope to continue the series if there is a sequel. The world-building was excellent, and the characters were diverse. I followed Jade through all of the twists and turns of her journey as she is seeking a library to help bring an end to the reign of King Jarrod, who has proclaimed himself the Chosen One. It has all the elements that I consider necessary for a good fantasy. Magic and Dragons with an added steampunk side to it as well. The story offers an adventure that pulls you in and encourages you to join Jade every step of the way.
I like this book better than the first. A strong female lead is always good . A very strong follow up, really enjoyed it.
One of the things which I most enjoyed about this work was the worldbuilding, setting itself up nicely for an expansive trilogy in a cinematically described and wide-reaching world of fiefs, monarchs, deceptions, politics, magical lore, and gorgeous landscapes. I was with Jade every step of the way, and the emotional quality of the narrative made for some excellent heart-in-mouth moments when you really root for her to succeed. Overall, I would definitely recommend Isle of Dragons as a promising start to a rip-roaring new series for YA fantasy fans everywhere.
I did not read the first book in the series but after reading this book there will defiantly be a book three, or at least there better be :)
I give this book two thumbs up and am going to go find the first book to read. It is a fun and adventures world the writing is good, and the story kept me reading.
Looking forward to book 3!
A great second book, it kept up the same great steampunk world as the first. Lots of crazy things and people.
I love YA fantasy as well as dragons and steampunk. So from the title and the blurb alone I decided i needed to read this. I knew this was the second book in a trilogy and that I had not read the first book. I read a review that call it game of thrones meets how to train your dragon and would have to agreemore I liked Jade but The vocabulary make it seem like the writer picked up a thesaurus and changed a few words every chapter,
Unlike Game of thrones the multiple Povs did not run smoothly i found myself wanting to skip many of Kaylen chapters. I also thought the dragons would be more prevalent. Sadly this book ended up in my sagging middle pile of which series do not return.
I like this book just as much as I liked the cover page!
Imagination that can transport us to an other world is, of course, what I enjoy most about a fantasy novel, and this book is successful in doing so.
This is a great story with intriguing characters, sharp language, and thorough descriptions of the place and the events. Each of these components helps to build an engaging universe for readers.
With a heroic quest that sends Jade, our heroine, on a perilous trip to uncover a hidden library in order to fight King Jarrod, the author displays wonderful magical language that draws the reader into a mythical realm.
The narrative as a whole is packed with adventures and puzzles that will send the reader into a wild train of thought and only encourage them to keep going!
