I could not put this book down. It was an absolute treat, y'all. Gore, dark humor, and well, disturbing - this book was insanely addictive.

Kitty Collins is the female version of Joe Goldberg ☕ Her thoughts had me cracking up all the time, but when she brings her game on - 😳 bloody brilliant.

I was intrigued by Charlie the way I was with Jeremy (yk, Verity); from the very beginning. I shipped him with Kits so hard, I loved the romance crumbs 😭💗

I was so engrossed, waiting for the next murder, and the little twists surprised me, a lot. And not gonna lie, Kitty almost turned me into a vegan 💀

Verdict: Deliciously dark and twisted 🔪

I loved the synopsis for the plot. I was intrigued by Kitty’s character throughout the book and was rooting for her even though she was technically a serial killer. I liked that the premise of the story is dark but the author added a sense of humor to Kitty’s character. I felt there may have been too many story lines going on at times, but it all tied together in the end. I really enjoyed this quick read!

I enjoyed this book. It follows influencer Kitty Collins through her exploits with her fellow social media star friends, but quickly takes a dark turn when Kitty is followed home from a club and attacked. She fights back and accidentally (?) kills her would be attacker. This opens the door to her calling- killing bad men who hurt women. It’s delightfully satisfying, but there are some elements that kept me from completely enjoying it. Despite the explicit feminist bent of the plot, there are times when the author describes Kitty’s friends and their relationships in ways that seem lazy and misogynistic. Long story short, a fun, if imperfect book, that’s definitely not for women that think modern day feminism has become “too misandristic.”

This book unfortunately did not live up to the hype for me. I found the plot and writing to be a bit dry. I went into it thinking it would be more humorous and fun. It seemed to be the same thing just written over ans over again.
Thanks to the publisher and netgalley for a chance to read and review this book. This opinion is my own.

thank you to netgalley and everyone involved for providing me with an e-arc copy in exchange for an honest review!

i genuinely don’t know where to start with this book. it was thrilling, hilarious at times, and unbelievably dark and twisted and unsettling. it’s definitely not a book for the faint of heart.

i would also strongly recommend checking trigger warnings before reading this as it has a lot of graphic discussions about sensitive topics: suicide, self harm, eating disorders, rape, sexual assault, addiction, and abuse (to name a few).

i loved and hated every single one of the characters, but, in my opinion - that was the whole point. they all need a LOT of intense therapy and that’s probably not even enough to sort through the hell that they’ve suffered

as a true crime enthusiast, this book was right up my street. and as a woman, theres something satisfying seeing that internalised fear and anger that all women are far too familiar with being unleashed in a fictional manner. i don’t condone violence, but being able to understand some of the things the female characters had to experience gives it another layer that’s hard to put into words.

don’t get me wrong, this book was twisted. but it was also so layered and complex and the PLOT TWIST? i was in genuine shock. this book is definitely one that’s going to leave a lasting impression and it really makes you think about the terrifying state of the world we live in.

murder is not right. and yes, this book is fictional. but the scary truth of it all is that the behaviour of the vile men (and i’m hesitant to even call them men because they are truly below humanity) throughout the whole story is a daily occurrence in real life, and this was a very clever way to shine a light on reality.

This is a very funny, dark book which I couldn't put down. Kitty is a great character, and although the reader pretends to be shocked at what she does, secretly we are all cheering her on. I will definitely be recommending this book (although I won't be eating sausage rolls from now on!)

This book stirred a lot of uneasiness in me. I felt throwing up at times.

Warning: The story can be seriously triggering to some women who went through same traumatic events.
Rape, sexual assault, murder

Idea of killing monsters who assaults women sexually can be supported but at what cost. What if it's innocents who gets targeted.

Kitty Collins, an instagram influencer, accidentally kills a man who stalks her and forces himself on her. She never felt guilt or fear. Then she kills another man who disrespects and ghosts her friend. This awakens an animal in her and she starts her hunt using dating app and kills rapists one at a time.

In this chaos, she finds a man, Charlie, who is sweet and kind unlike others. They date and fall in love with each other.

There is a stalker watching every step of Kitty. They knew everything in detail of what Kitty does. Why are they stalking her? What do they want from her?

Honestly, I didn't like this book. I hated Kitty character. I don't know what opinion to create on the plot. Erasing existence of some men, who made women's life hell, is right? Maybe. Does it give right to make it an agenda to kill these type of men? I don't know.

The characters are twisted and psychotic. Adam didn't deserve what he became and Charlie definitely deserved a lot better than Kitty. Her boyfriend doesn't have a clue that she is a murderer? How twisted that is?🤧

Also she didn't get away with any murder. She hid or got rid of body. Police are dumb not to find the murderer.

I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone. Not worth your time in my opinion.

Also did I mention that Kitty is VEGAN? Yes, she is. Don't ask me why this detail is necessary?

This was actually darker than I was expecting, but was a fun read. There were some parts that made me laugh and I thought it was a quick, easy read. Yeah, maybe you need to suspend your disbelief, but sometimes that's just the fun of it. I was fine with that. If you like dark humor, I think you might really like this one.

Kitty Collins accidentally, in self defense, kills a man who follows her home one night. After that, it seems to become easy or compelling for her to want revenge on the men who wrong women, and murders them. I enjoyed this one, it was pretty entertaining although morbid. 😬 I'm curious what this author will come up with in the future.

Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the gifted copy. All opinions are my own. Out now!

Every single character in this book needs some very serious and justifiable therapy, and maybe I do too because I kept seeing the justification in Kitty's actions with no problem.
It's the lovechild of Dexter and Promising Young Woman, where the lead character is doing things that aren't exactly morally right but are mostly defensible as the victims are totally deserving of it. Or most of them do because there is, of course, a big plot twist reveal that launches the bonkers final act into even more surreal territory.
The characters are interesting and the plot feels (sadly) very authentic to today's world and situation. It gets very dark and there should be a massive trigger warning about sexual abuse, but it's amazing how Brent manages to make all of that seem entertaining.
I'm sure it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea, but this reader certainly enjoyed Kitty getting away with it.

Happy thanks to NetGalley and HQ Digital for the darkly entertaining read!

Absolutely loved this. Original subject matter, darkly funny, but with some really serious undertones sensitively dealt with. Kitty’s decline into serial killer status felt almost pantomimey at times but in a fun ‘carry on’ kind of way.

When reading the blurb of this book, it made me think of the 'Sweet Pea' books by CJ Skuse - a book series that I adored.
Unfortunately this book didn't have the same wit as those by CJ Skuse - it was a lot darker. So don't be fooled by the quirky cover or the blurb. This isn't a funny book.

I enjoyed Katy Brent's writing style, and found it very easy to read but the plot of this one frustrated me. It got very repetitive. Man does something 'knob-ish'to a female, protagonist gets her revenge on behalf of the said female. Man gets murdered. Protagonist gets away with it. And repeat.
Don't get me wring, there were a couple of kills that were more meaningful but there were a lot that were not, and I feel were just used to plump up the word count. The repetitive nature of this book did grate on me somewhat.

Despite the repetitive plot, I do think it had some important points to make, and as I say Brent's writing was really engaging. I enjoyed this book, although I didn't love it.
I look forward to seeing what Katy Brent does next.

I really enjoyed this mystery thriller, which got better with every chapter. Initially, sceptical of Kitty and her Insta lifestyle, I had Eleanor Tomlinson in my head from The Outlaws going 'OMG' but as the story unfolded a darker more sinister protaginist evolved and I had Vanessa Kirby from The Crown (Princess Margaret) in my head movie. Very readable page turner, deliciously dark and witty with a very clever plot and excellent twists at the end. Thanks to NetGalley UK and the publisher HQ/HCUK.

As it was my first time reading something from this author, I didn't know what to expect. I was drawn in by the title and premise, and it did not disappoint!

Summary

Kitty Collins, vegan heiress to a meat empire, has a covetable insta-famous influencer lifestyle in London. Her seemingly perfect world includes wealthy, beautiful friends, the perfect London flat and hundreds of thousands of adoring followers. But Kitty has a dark secret… she's a prolific serial killer. Her appetite for killing men who were known abusive, sex offenders keeps growing and growing as she keeps easily getting away with it. Things start to change when she meets nice guy Charlie who sweeps her off her feet, and she vows to herself to stop her killing habit. But can she resist the impossible rush? Meanwhile, her instagram stalker knows about her double life… and the messages start to get threatening.

Overall Verdict

Will definitely read from this author again! This book combined my favorite genre (mystery thriller) with "chick lit" beach read. Absolute page turner with some glamorous settings and characters, and a few steamy sex scenes. The perfect beach read for a reader who enjoys something a bit dark. The main character is likeable and sympathetic, and I enjoyed the themes around her unresolved childhood trauma, and the bringing awareness to how women often do not feel safe and are often not believed when assaulted. Kitty is an antiheroine you can root for as you can sympathize with her mission of ridding the world of bad men and stopping them from claiming more victims. This was a fun, slightly dark ride that I could totally see becoming a screenplay for a movie or TV series.

What an utterly addictive book this was to read. Characters that you so got into and glad they weren’t real given what Kitty did to the men! A great storyline with some twists you really didn’t see coming!

What a brilliant deliciously dark twisted tale. Loved this book & can see this working well as a tv show. Thank you to Netgalley & publisher for the opportunity to read this.

Totally unbelievable but this didn't detract from the enjoyable read. An act of self defense triggers a killing spree. The Instagram influencer with a big secret to hide. Dark, gruesome but so likeable.

With thanks the #NetGalley and publishers permission for this #ARC of #HowToKillMenAndGetAwayWithIt.
Kitty Collins is an influencer who has been harassed one too many times. She is a vigilante for all women who have been mistreated by men. Excellent book with some quite dark humour, but in the end you're rooting for the bad guy.

I missed downloading this before it was archived so I bought it anyway. As I liked the synopsis.
It’s very graphic in parts and although I really wanted to enjoy it I had to class it as a DNF. I may pick it back up at a later date but I just couldn’t get into the characters and the plot

You know they'll get away with it, so what's in the story then? A racy, thriller version of Sex and the City. With a lot less sex. Kitty is rich, and likes to kill. You don't feel much sympathy for her because that life reminds you that you don't have better. But the book is full of these highly relatable snippets. It's got one of the few romances that didn't annoy me. The murders are chillingly interesting. A tad predictable but really fun, dark chick lit. Do read.
