Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC.
I hoped for a lot from this, but sadly it missed the mark for me. A good premise but I’d have liked more character development and for the main character to be more likeable.

This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from HQ and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.

Fun, interesting and entertaining. I enjoyed the story but hoped for more.

I enjoyed this book but I also wanted more. It was hard to understand the reasons for killing and yet I get it. I also wanted the main character to be a little more likeable so I could root for her to succeed at her interesting mission. I also hope there is more to read about this character.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an advance reading copy of How to Kill Men and Get Away With It.

I am torn with this one. I blew threw this in one day and it was definitely interesting and a page turner. I appreciate the feminist vigilante storyline. But I didn’t feel there was enough explanation for Kitty’s motivation here, she was not a very sympathetic character. I mean obviously she is a serial killer but even so, nothing remarkable about her other than she is described as pretty and rich.

Her friends were vapid and the romance had really nothing behind it. None of the side characters were interesting and neither was the setting. Serious issues like rape, pedophilia, miscarriage, suicide (and obviously murder) were treated very flippantly in a way that I suppose fit the theme of the book, but felt icky somehow. A rape of one character was used as nothing more than a plot point.

Nonetheless it was still a compelling read. I probably wouldn’t pick a sequel up though.

Thank you to NetGalley, Harper collins, and Katy Brent for allowing me to receive an arc in exchange for my honest review- all thoughts and opinions are my own!

This was such a fun ride- I truly enjoyed it. The main character was a riot, and I was imagining Paris Hilton on a vendetta - I loved it. The ending makes me want more- hopefully a sequel?! Fingers crossed on that .

This one very much so was not for me. I found the main character insufferable, which is absolutely fine as I don’t think she care much for herself either. She surrounds herself with other vapid characters and then goes on a killing spree. The title and premise had me onboard, but the writing and the plot were not making me excited to keep coming back to the book. This one was a DNF for me.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review in exchange for this ARC!

If you like SweetPea, How to Kill your Family and Dexter then you will love this!!! Fast paced thrill of a read, I whizzed through this really quickly. Not for the squeamish but full of dark humour which had me snorting with laughter at times!!! There are some serious undertones of privilege, feminism and trauma along the way as well. Overall a great read and a brilliant debut! I will look forward to more from this author.

CW: Abuse, Sexual Assault & R*pe, Graphic violence, Anxiety

This book is very in the zeitgeist, and fits neatly into one of my favourite emerging genres; vigilante woman snaps back at exploitative arsehole pigs who deserve it - see My Sister's A Serial Killer, Sweet Pea, maybe even How To Kill Your Family - and these books were mentioned in the acknowledgements.

It's a great concept, and all the ingredients are there, there is just something that doesn't quite hit the mark for me. And maybe because I went in with such high expectations, my review is a little harsh. Tricky and dark subjects are dealt with with a mix of humour and sensitivity, which is a big plus. However, I kept getting frustrated with the protagonist. A serial killer protagonist is always going to be a bit of tricky one, but I just didn't warm to Kitty enough, in the way I have with other serial killer protagonists (!?!?!).

On the whole a fun and easy read. Thank you.

So long as you suspend belief and just enjoy a fun read then this is great. It was amusing and I enjoyed it

FIrst of all, I read this book based on the title alone. The rest of the book was ehh. It was a fast read from the start, but incredibly predictable. The characters were not anything special, I found them to be flat and at times annoying. All that being said, the book was incredibly engaging. The title, amazing. The premise, amazing. I just wanted a little bit more from all of it.

Kitty, a wealthy influencer, finds herself on a killing spree. After being followed home one night, she pushed him, he fell on a broken wine bottle and died. The rush was so good that she found it impossible to stop killing the bad guys. But is there an issue with it when it is for revenge and the safety of women everywhere?

Thank you netgalley for my advanced reader copy.

it wasn’t good but it was fun. the plot was pretty ridiculous and there's no way Kitty should have gotten away with what she did

Kitty is an influencer. She's got loads of followers and can take care of herself. She also finds herself wanting to take care of the men in the world that treat women like crap--the ones that ghost, expect more than what their given, intimidate women, etc. How does she do it? She kills them.

How to Kill Men and Get Away With It was a darkly humorous and fun book--perfect for fall and spooky season! I found myself really liking Kitty as a narrator -- even though she's an influencer, she was still very relatable. I also found her struggle with men to be relatable in the real world. I didn't find this "man-hating" going on in the book to be too much. Instead, I felt the author really captured the sad state of dating affairs in the 21st century (although obviously minus the murdering!). But seriously -- ladies, if you've been fed up with feeling like you can't walk down the street alone at night without a weapon, or you are sick of the endless stream of ghosting from your Tinder dates...check out this book!

In the end, I loved the humor of the book but also enjoyed seeing Kitty Collins trying to navigate her own love life and all of the good and the bad. Those who don't really get "social media" and influencers might have a hard time getting into or relating to the characters, although I personally enjoyed it!

Overall, I loved this read. It was fun and fast and I will enjoy recommending it to patrons.

Kitty Collins is a VIBE!

First off can we talk about the title?? Because that was the first thing that immediately grabbed my attention. And the cover?! Who wouldn't want to read about a gorgeous man killing influencer with great taste? I mean, the men were bad, so it's okay, right?

Since I absolutely loved the Dexter series, the "female Dexter vibes" was definitely my jam. I loved Kitty's whip-smart attitude and her initial response to her accidental killings was kind of like "whoopsie" and also gave me some Killing Eve vibes (I also love Villanelle so I'm sensing a theme here).

There are a few triggers and darker themes in this book (we are talking serial killer after all) so be warned if that isn't your thing. But over all this was a quick and entertaining read, and since the ending was left open I would definitely be up for more books if this becomes a series.

5/5 stars

Sadly DNF, I just couldn't warm up to the main character or the supporting cast.
Interesting concept however, so I may well come back to this at another time.

I had to dnf only because I am a mood reader. I plan to start over once I get out of this slump. From what I did read I thoroughly enjoyed!!!

I requested this book because of the title. "How to Kill Men and Get Away With It" is epic and definitely set my expectations a lot higher than they should have been. I ended up DNFing this book at 25% because I was genuinely so bored with the character. The MC is basically a psychopathic murderer, which I'm fine with in fantasy or books that are marketed as dark, but this one is not. The side characters were flat and monotone, and if you asked me any of their names, I'd draw a blank.
It really comes down to this one simple fact: there are so many books in the world. Don't waste your time on the ones you don't enjoy.

How to Kill Men and Get Away With It by Katy Brent was not what I was expecting. I really wanted to love this book. I really did. I had a hard time relating to Kitty’s character. I mean, who wouldn’t have a hard time. She murders terrible men to make the world a better place for women.

Kitty is a famous instagram influencer with millions of followers. She has a friend group that are all just as selfish as her and only care about themselves and the followers they get. Kitty does have a little more compassion and we see that throughout the book as she starts to date Charlie, whom I love very much.

It was just hard to imagine an instagram influencer attacking all of these men and being able to carry them to places to dispose of them.

Was it entertaining? Yes. Did I finish the book? Yes. Would I read it again? Probably not. It’s a twisted and witty read that you can finish in a day.

Thanks again for NetGalley for the ARC!

This isn't my normal type of book. But I really enjoyed it! Kitty Collins is quite loveable despite doing what she does. Highly recommend.

Kitty is a rich girl. She spends her time hanging out with her well- off friends and consolidating her position as an insta influencer. Then she accidently finds a new outlet – killing men who prey on women – or is this a venture she seems to have had some previous experience in?
How To Kill Men and Get Away With It is an entertaining read. Once you have ingested a healthy pinch of salt, this book provides a wealth of colourful characters, well-worked back stories and murders, some better planned and executed than others. This is a page-turner, made intriguing with the assistance of a stalker, almost until the end, by which time the reveals and justifications start to wear a bit thin.
I surprised myself by really liking this read and am grateful to Netgalley UK and HQ

I tore right through this one ! It's laugh-out-loud funny, razor-sharp, whip-smart, dark & twisted all rolled into one ! The best way I can describe this book is that it's like Finlay Donovan meets Dexter. Totally binge-worthy, and I definitely smell a sequel, and I am here for it !! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
