The title of this book intrigued me which is why I chose it. It was a ‘good-enough’ read although frankly, having read a load of murder and police procedural books, how her DNA was not found at these murders is an absolutely mystery to me. I get that she is a modern day vigilante, only killing those who deserve it but frankly it was all a little too far fetched for me. However, I kept on reading it so it clearly wasn’t that bd at all!
The identification of her stalker, The Creep, which would have surprised me, actually didn’t at all.
I’d give this ARC three stars, it was an easy to read book, with some really good bits and some bits that left me going…..’Seriously, that could never happen!’.
Would I read another of this author, yes probably.
My thanks go to the author, the publishers and to Netgalley for an advanced e.reader copy of this book. This review however is entirely my own opinion!
I felt very torn by this book. It was well written, but it just seemed unnecessary extreme, especially as far as sexual assault goes. Not sure I would recommend
Thanks netgalley for the ARC
TW: Rape, gore, sexual abuse, miscarriage, violence
This book is really quick paced
How she wasn’t caught I have no idea!!
I actually can’t stand the MC but it was still a good read the twist at the end I didn’t expect

Meet Kitty Collins
Friend. Lover. Killer.
Did you ever feel unsafe walking home at night, keys in between your fingers, hoping you get home ok? Well Kitty, like many women in the world, feels that way. One night she’s accosted by a guy from the nightclub who just wouldn’t take no for an answer. They struggle, he falls and lands on a broken glass bottle. And so Kitty accidentally begins her killing spree. Kitty gets a taste for a revenge and targets only those she believes deserves to be killed. She can’t stop and what’s more, she likes it!
I consumed this book! So entertaining, brimming with dark humour, twisted logic and glamorous young people. Kitty is a popular Instagram influencer, who documents her life for her followers. Her friends, who all live in the wealthy area of Chelsea, come from equally rich backgrounds and live for the ‘Gram.
Think Made in Chelsea meets Dexter!
I loved Kitty and her twisted logic. As the story progresses, you get to see just how messed up she is and what has driven her to think that acting as a vigilante dishing out revenge and retribution is ok. You cannot put this book down! One of the most original and engrossing books I’ve read in a long time.
TW: This book tackles some really heavy issues like eating disorders, sexual assault, rape, suicide, mental health, stalking.
An absolute treat of a read.
Deliciously dark and crazy! Perfect for fans of My Sister is A Serial Killer and Killing Eve. A stunning debut- can’t wait to see what the author writes next!
Thanks to NetGalley and publishers for the arc. How to Kill Men and Get Away With It is out now!
I was hooked the minute I saw the cover with the title, "How to Kill Men. and Get Away With It," and I liked the story overall. It feels like Dexter, Killing Eve, Kill Bill, etc. While I struggled with how unlikeable the main character was, I think her personality served the purpose of quickly developing the character into one that the reader could reliably count on to act in a consistent way. The plot was a bit repetitive, but it did what it promised- murder. My biggest issue, and the main reason for my rating, is that it has an excessive amount of sexual assault- so much so that it seemed to exist in the story sometimes for the sake of shock-value entertainment, rather than serve as reasoning or justification for the plot and protagonist's actions. Spoiler: There was a false rape accusation in the climax of the book. I hate when books, shows, or movies feature this trope because I think it perpetuates the dangerous lie that women frequently report false rape stories. That's just not true.
*3.5 rounded down
This book is quick paced literally jumping from murder to murder, but not your typical thriller formula. Kitty Collins doesn’t plan to be a murderer, but the role truly finds her. Although how she is never caught is truly the real miracle she leaves tracks wherever she goes. This book was a fun read and I picked it up and didn’t put it down till I was finished.

This was a little too intense, dark and bloody right from the start for me. I should have expected as much with the title, but hard to stomach at times.
How to Kill Men and Get Away With It by Katy Brent.
I am not going to lie, the title of this book grabbed my attention. There has been a number of books in recent years featuring women who kill, My Sister the Serial Killer and How to Murder Your Family being two that spring to mind (I enjoyed both) and the author acknowledges this sub-genre in her acknowledgements. How to Kill Men and Get Away With It was a quick binge read. Dark, funny and it sucked me in.
Kitty Collins is an influencer in London, walking home one night with her keys between her fingers, a man she had been speaking to earlier, who wouldn't take no for an answer, is following her. Minutes later, the man is dead and so begins Kitty's killing spree. The book follows Kitty over a number of months and her circle of friends in the influencer world and Kitty ramps up her body count as she continues to come across men who have wronged women.
This is a dark, sometimes graphic, often funny read. Wildly outlandish and there are some plot holes but nonetheless it was an engaging, well written read. I liked it. The author left the ending open for a second book and Id absolutely read it if she writes it.
Entertaining non taxing, oddly satisfying with a horrible protagonist that you can't help but root for. Recommend.
I really enjoyed what I would call the female approach to Dexter. This book could have been considered heavy due to the topic and what type of people Kitty was targeting but the authors writing style had a really comedic approach which I enjoyed. The book was action packed and had me engaged in the first chapter which I find valuable as a reader. Overall I read through the book pretty quickly and enjoyed it however it can be heavy and dark at times even with the “justice” being delivered.
If I were to describe my perfect book. This is it. If you have ever been scared to walk home, worried that your small talk will be taken the wrong way, or unable to feel comfortable in a room full of men; this book is here to validate those feelings. The concept is creative and so refreshing to read.
The author does a great job with making a hard, emotional aspect of society funny, entertaining, and heartwarming. If you are a fan of serial killer shows like Dexter and Killing Eve this should be a must read for you.
My sincere thanks to the author and NetGalley for the gifted review copy. This book is available now. Dont worry, I have already ordered a final copy of my own though.
This book gripped me from the word go. It starts off entertaining and proceeds the whole way through. It has twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. After I finished this book, I needed some time to fully digest what I thought to it. Reason being, I thought it was going to continue throughout with the lighter vibe it starts with, however, it does change and proceeds to get a little darker, which with the title does make sense. I’m not so used to reading darker storylines. For those who are, this would be an easier one I’m sure. So if you’re wanting to try out these types of books, it’s a fantastic book to start with.
Clearly Kitty has issues with men and she plays them out in a very dark way. It starts as an accident and moves on from there. Kitty has been deeply hurt in her past and has a sarcastic charm. Kitty has a superficial & pretentious air about her with social media and influencer vibes and can be quite cynical, which adds to her character.
She comes across as being quite a bitter woman and has a very low opinion of men who she deems mistreats or disrespects women, which she plays out in ways that are seen as unacceptable, inappropriate and dysfunctional with her actions. She’s killing to serve a purpose, she believes she’s clearing the world for the better.
I enjoyed the book and would be thinking about it when I wasn’t reading, so that’s got to be a good sign. Thanks to NetGalley for allowing me to read this book for an honest review.
A female version of Dexter and American Psycho!
This is a satirical tale of getting back at men for all the atrocious things they do to women. I absolutely loved the premise of the book. However, the character execution could have been better. It is definitely a page-turner that is gut-wrenching and hilarious at the same time!
Kitty Collins is a vegan Instagram star with shitloads of inheritance money from her ancestor's meat processing business (ironic, right?). She has the perfect Instagram worthy life with cool friends who love to party. However, Kitty harbors a secret that none of her friends know except for a creepy stalker. Whenever Kitty sees or hears about men doing wrong by women, she is engulfed by rage and disgusts and does the only thing she can. Kill them and get away with it!
Kitty Collins kills men. Men who rape. Men who abuse. Men who gaslight. Men who are pedophiles. She is a vigilante for women. As her killing spree continues, she meets and falls in love with Charlie. Her life is beautiful but the only problem is the stalker who knows what she does! Will the stalker reveal her secret? What does the stalker want? And most importantly, who is this damn stalker? Read to find out.
I'll give it 4 stars because it had more potential!
Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for giving me this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Terrible and wonderful all at the same time. Shocking but rivetting. This is definitely a book that I should have but I love it. The best type of book naughty (who has not thought of killing their husband ?... Surely not just me ? ). But this thankfully is fiction and the humour makes all the difference. Update - husband still alive after more than 40 years, for now .....
Many thanks to NetGalley and HQ for gifting me a digital ARC of this debut novel by Katy Brent - 5 stars!
Kitty Collins is a top Instagram influencer, from a wealthy family who owns a meat packing conglomerate. But Kitty has a secret, even from her circle of friends - she sees red when she sees men mistreating women and does something about it! And knows how to get away with it! Except for that one stalker who seems to know her every move.
I absolutely loved this very dark humor tale of a woman getting back at those men who seem to feel it's their right to do whatever they want to women. I couldn't put it down and Kitty's character was a hoot. But there's lots of mystery there too - what happened to Kitty's first love? And can her new boyfriend, Charles, be trusted? Just who is stalking her? Definite female Dexter vibes confronting the #MeToo movement. What a fabulous debut - can't wait to read more from this author!
How To Kill Men And Get Away With It by Katy Brent is like a twisted thriller version of an episode of 'Friends'.
Kitty Collins is the vegan heiress of one of the biggest meat companies in the world and the millions that come with it. She also built herself an Instagram community that adores her to the point of no return. However not all things that shine are made of gold. Something that none of her loyal followers know, is that Kitty the vegan has a thing for slandering guys who did her or other women wrong. Not even her closest friends have a clue about what is going on when Kitty is alone, but one person just might. Cause what you don't know is that Kitty has a stalker and whoever that stalker is, he or she seems to know a lot more than they should.
This book got a solid 3.5 out of 5 stars from me. I really liked the idea behind the story and when I first read the description, I was super excited to dive in. And don't get me wrong it's nowhere near a bad book, however it just wasn't my favorite. My law student, criminology loving heart just couldn't find a way to really sympathizes with Kitty. I had a hard time connecting with her and her reasons as to why she does what she does. I think it would have been easier if she was just plain horrible and I could hate her. However, she wasn't a bad person in a large chunk of the book and therefore I just could not not like her. As a vegetarian myself I quite obviously like the animal loving side of her. And I mean to be fair she had a few really good ideas on how to dispose of the bodies. The rollerblade and coat scene was just pure genius level.
You might be confused because of my 'Friends' comparison at the beginning. A huge part of the story is Kitty's relationship with her friends and their meet ups to get a drink. To be fair they 99% of the time get alcohol instead of coffee, but hey who's to judge.
There is a pretty drastic plot twist towards the end as well, and I didn't really see that one coming. I expected something to happen of that sort, but I definitely didn't see it coming to that extent.
As for all the people that are a little sensitive when it comes to some of the grueling scenes, here are a few trigger warnings: mentions of rape, murder, mutilation, cruelty towards animals and stalking. But let's be honest you probably already guessed most of those if you have even read a single paragraph of my review or even the title of the book.
Hope this review was somewhat helpful!!!
At first the title and the synopsis caught my attention, it had an intriguing premise. However, the execution is not what I expected.
Make sure to read the trigger warnings about this book before reading this dark humor thriller book.
⚠️ TW: Rape, gore, sexual abuse, miscarriage, lots of violence
The plot is actually interesting, it has Finlay Donovan vibes with the humor element in a thriller book.
The short chapters and fast pacing is also what keeps me interested and read it till the end. The way she always got away with murder is actually surprising.
The author also included lots of serious topics inside, like how social media affects our lives, violence against women and the power of women when they fight back.
The characters though is not so likeable, I had a hard time connecting with any of them.
There's a lot of great topics to be explored but there's just too many that eventually the plot felt all over the place.
Overall, for a debut novel it was an okay read. The plot idea is brilliant but it still needs more development. I think I'll give this author a try if there's another book coming out in the future.
I received an advanced review copy for free from Netgalley, HQ and Katy Brent. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
thank you netgalley and hqstories for the arc of this book.I was very intrigued with the title and the synopsis of this book but i felt that the overall plot wasn't executed very well. Also felt that the writing style maybe was not for me .i couldn't bring myself to like or care about the mc of this book and every characters felt very one dimensional
TW alcohol, drugs, physical and sexual assault.
I was really intrigued by the title and the summary of this book and was excited to start reading.
Having now finished it, I really have mixed feelings on how much I enjoyed it. I’m not sure if it’s just the characters that are frustrating. The main character Kitty could be quite amusing at times but more often she is inconsistent which is confusing.
This was a story that I expected to be unrealistic at times but surely it is highly unlikely she wouldn’t be questioned by police sooner. She was communicating with her victims by apps and driving around with them in her car.
Overall it was still a quick easy read.
Thank you to #NetGalley and #HQStories for a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
How to Kill Men and Get Away With It follows the story of Kitty Collins, a young woman living in Chelsea, who finds herself on a murderous (with purpose) spree after a man who follows her home and threatens her dies by falling on his own broken wine bottle. From this incident, Kitty sees a way of ridding the world of men who threaten women. And she's rather good at it.
I have to admit that it was the title that intrigued me. It's provocative, to be sure, but I was gearing myself up for some satire and dark humor in this book. I'm not quite sure I saw that here, but the story's not so bad. It's not the heaviest of thrillers, and if such a term exists, this could even be considered a cozy thriller. Kitty's a solid main character, even if she makes some questionable choices at times. Her intentions are pretty straightforward, and though we're not supposed to root for killers, Kitty's actions make you rethink that.
This had the potential to be a five-star read for me, but the resolution of one of the main plot points here wasn't very interesting to me, and I wasn't sold on the love interest.
I'd still recommend this book though, but would strongly advise looking up trigger warnings prior to picking up the book.
I give this 4 stars.
Thank you, Netgalley and HQ for this arc!
This is one wacky ride. The main character, Kitty Collins- wealthy social media influencer (boy, I dislike that job) becomes an inadvertent killer which morphs her into an actual serial killer.
Kitty is sarcastic, sardonic, and lusty for blood! Every man she interacted with put me on proverbial pins and needles as I waited to see if they were going to be roofied and date murdered.
Kitty happens to be an heiress to a “meat” fortune and her late night visits to the slaughterhouse will have you thinking twice before you down your next bratwurst. FYI- Kitty’s a vegan.
She ultimately makes a major murder mistake and is thrown off her game, but by the book’s ending- I have a pretty good inclination that she’s not done killin’. It was honestly awesome to have a WOMAN have the upper hand as we are generally the ones looking over our shoulder and hoping we don’t end up chained in someone’s basement.
I’d like to thank NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for this advance reader copy. All the opinions stated here are my own.
