Short Review 1: If Dexter was a female.

Short Review 2: Stomach turns....huge trigger warnings with this one.

Long Review: Full honesty, the title made me want to read it. I mean, c'mon. It's brilliant. The title and cover give off a playful comedic vibe so I was expecting a more "light hearted" murder book. Nope. Damn. This book was hard to get through. There were some funny dark humor parts, but mostly it turned my stomach and made me queasy.

I do appreciate a strong female main character as well as a well rounded, morally gray character. However, that wasn't enough to get me past the graphic murder descriptions. *Stomach turns again....I think this is the perfect book for true crime/murder fans. I will definitely recommend it to others. The story is a fantastic concept; it just wasn't my cup of tea.

P.S. I'm also looking into becoming a vegetarian.

I am left confused by this one - by my thoughts on it, not the book itself. There are things I enjoyed and things not so much. I should have loved it, but I am left feel as if there was just something lacking. Lets do this one with a likes and dislikes!

👍🏽
🎭 The dad joke and comedic one liners amused me. I really did enjoy these and kept wanting to keep and quote for comedy value!
🤦🏽‍♀️ The friendships and conversations were so true to life in the friendships I have. I liked this - women/ girls can be coarse and vulgar if they want and thats okay 😂 we are not always ladies!

“Nothing attracts hideous fuck boys quite like a woman with low self esteem”

“If Kitty wants to keep her kitty drier than a ryvita, then that is her decision”

👎🏽
🛍️ Not sure how bodies were being carried in shopping bags - how was she strong enough? How were the bags strong enough?
💪🏽 After a couple of kills, the subject of her strength moving mens bodies was addressed. She had already done quite a lot of heavy lifting, seemingly unaffected. She also managed to cut through muscle and sinew without much difficulty
📸 Surely there would have been CCTV at the place someone of the bodies were taken? (Don’t want to give any spoilers saying where!)
🔑 Some of the references felt like the book was trying to make a point and focused a lot of women needing to have keys in their hands when scared etc. There were a few too many references to this stuff that made it serious and made me feel like I was being preached at
🔤 Sometimes it felt like it jumped from murder to murder and then the random scene at the end and a wrap up. There wasnt much substance

Despite the above, I do want to say that I really enjoyed the style of writing. The trivial humour used reminded me of a fantastic film (sorry for the super old reference!!) - Dead Husbands! Look it up, it’s fab! I will read more as this author releases more books as I think as her writing evolves it will all tie up better for me ❤️✍🏽📕

This type of book isn't something I'd usually veer towards, but I am so glad I read this. Initially, Kitty made herself ridiculously hard for me to root for - I don't typically enjoy commentary on the woes of being an influencer, however as the story continued to develop I really started to connect with her.

The dark humor and the pace of this book had me hooked - I literally could not read it quick enough. Just as I thought I'd figured out where the story was going, another curve ball was thrown in and had me guessing again. The social commentary throughout the book worked really well - it wasn't inserted for the sake of dialogue, and although showed the extremes of women fighting back, did an excellent job to highlight some of the huge downfalls of society particularly within British culture. The Made in Chelsea and Killing Eve nods were really well interwoven, and successfully added to the entertainment of the narrative.

I'm a sucker for a morally grey character and I found exactly that in Kitty. Her intentions were (largely) well placed, and I couldn't help but root for her. The revelations toward the end of the book were nothing that I was expecting which only made for a more enjoyable read. I advise checking trigger warnings before reading, but overall a really good book!

Overall, I loved this book! A Made in Chelsea inspired psycho killer who only kills men who are violent against women - an absolutely perfect idea for a book.

Only 4 stars because the upper-classness was pretty insufferable (although this kind of added to the love-hate relationship with the main characters) and there was a snarky comment about a council estate in there.

I did not guess the ending at all, which is always the sign of a good thriller. A great read for spooky season!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for an honest review.

When I saw this cover on NetGalley, I was immediately drawn to it! I mean, look at this cute cover and the amazing title 😍
I didn't really know what to expect so I dived in. And bam, it gave me serious female Dexter vibes! Since I was a huge fan of the show, I was hooked! There was also dark humour, which I'm always here for. It was also dark, period. Definitely check the TW before going in 😅
I loved the FMC! She's a bit of a diva, funny, and a complete psycho, but with whom you can still empathize.
The other characters could have been a bit more developed but we're still fun to read about!
The plot was pretty well written! I would have never guessed the twists in the end! However, I was still left with an unanswered question 😥
That being said, I still recommend reading it! It was a fun and quick read!

I loved this book so much. It was written so well and with such humour. The story is one of an apparent vacuous influencer who has a strong sense of right and wrong. She selects predatory men to kill so that women don't have to walk home with keys in their hands. You do wonder throughout the book at how the police do not seem to be able to link her to any of the crimes as she is not especially careful and adept at covering her tracks. That being said it doesn't spoil the story. would definitely read this author again.
I received a copy of this book through net galley

I utterly adored this book, it is fast paced and brutal which is exactly what I want in a book. I totally got suckered by the title and the cover art, a beautiful woman with a lovely flowy skirt that just happens to be blood spattered, bloody (ahem) genius move there.

I loved the character of Kitty Collins, just being fierce and unapologetically herself all the while having a rather chilling and frankly terrifying obsession with her knives and also killing men. Whilst being plant based and lauding the benefits of Veganism. There is just something so comical to me about the adventures of a Vegan serial killer.

I loved all the asides into where things were from and how Kitty has obviously ruined a lot of very expensive clothes with her pastime, taking body parts out of her flat in designer bags and saying she’s going to do some returns, epic. The bit where she’s annoyed the pages of Vogue are just too shiny to soak up blood had me cackling. Yes, this book is obviously dark but it is also hysterically funny.

There are just so many good things I could say about this book. I absolutely tore (pun intended) through this read. Everyone needs to go read it.

Thank you NetGalley for letting me read it early!

Kitty Collins is a mess. Her hobby (killing men) gets out of hand, but she is not doing much else. She's N influencer who can't even operate the gadgets she's supposed to plug.
Her social life revolves around getting drunk, drugs and indiscriminate sex. Her friends live a similar lifestyle but without her hobby.
She feels compelled to rid the streets of predatory males. Her father's business having abattoirs proves handy with the aftermath.
I itially it seemed slightly funny but as it goes on becomes quite tedious.
The characters are quite well written and with a different subject, in a future book, these, unlike this could be enjoyable

3.5 stars.

As soon as I saw the premise for this one, I was hooked and, for the most part, this book lived up to the expectations I had. The dark humour and unique narrative voice were definitely highlights for me, particularly in contrast to the topics and themes that are touched on in the book. I'm a big fan of books that explore influencer culture and the world of social media, so I was definitely intrigued by Kitty's life and, although it could've gone a bit deeper, the conversation surrounding how it affected each character. I also thought that it got rather repetitive in the latter half of the book, and I definitely would've liked to see a more unpredictable - and perhaps fleshed out - ending to the one we got.

Nevertheless, an enjoyable read that definitely raises subjects that are highly significant and presents them in a darkly funny way. I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for this author in the future!

I have just finished this book and I loved it. This book has everything you need. Its got murder, love and humour! It had little twists throughout the book that I didn't see coming and the ending was brilliant. I thoroughly enjoyed this and hope that there is a book 2. #TeamKitty

I have spent more time deciding what to write in this review than I actually spent reading the book.

Basically, if you believe in the reality that, for the most part, women are NOT airheads that talk and indulge in nothing but sex, drugs and booze and if you believe in the reality that, for the most part, men are NOT airheads that talk and indulge in nothing but sex, drugs and booze then avoid this book.

As far as I am concerned, even though I did my best to willingly suspend my disbelief, the whole book is vacuous nonsense and not worth reading.

A gleefully gruesome female-serial-killer novel. We cheer along with the murderess as the men she dispatches all deserve what they get. The author has no truck with police procedural and the fact that her killer had no doubt left a trail of clues a mile wide. Hard to believe the way she gets off Scot free throughout - but that of course is not the point of this ultimate revenge thriller.

An enjoyable book full of dark humour. Some quite graphic scenes in parts (think female Dexter) - the social media influencer premise is often grating but the character Kitty was actually quite relatable.

A perfect book for the Autumn season! I recommend.

How to Kill Men and Get Away with it is a fast-paced, gore-filled novel that will make you say "good for her!"

Kitty Collins is a social media influencer that has had enough with terrible men making her and her friends unable to safely go out or simply just exist. Naturally, she chooses a side hustle that's equally as taxing as being an Instagrammer-- a man killer.

I wanted to like this much more than I did as someone who loves novels and media about bad men getting what they deserve. However, a rich, pretty, white girl narrating this with a nonchalant attitude made this novel lack for me in the beginning. She seemed like a caricature instead of a real character. Once Brent started to move away from Kitty being a self-obsessed character that only existed to create dark humor and got into her being a real character, the story got so much better.

Not my cup of tea, but many people will love this one. The ending is a great, thrilling conclusion-- and I will say, as a woman, even if I don't love the story I will Always love men getting what they deserve.

Thank you to NetGalley and HQ Digital for this ARC

| About|

Meet Kitty Collins.
FRIEND. LOVER. KILLER.
Have you ever walked home at night, keys in hand, ready to throw a punch in self-defence? That’s how it all started. The killing spree, I mean.
I sort of tripped into this role… Literally. The first one was following me. That guy from the nightclub who wouldn’t leave me alone. I pushed him, he stumbled, and fell onto his own broken wine bottle. Oops. It was such a waste of a good house white.
But now I can’t seem to stop and nor do I want to… I’ve got a taste for revenge and quite frankly, I’m killing it.

Female Dexter in Gucci and heels. Witty, intriguing, full of fashion, charm and slightly raunchy at times. Loved Kitty, she felt very real. Her group of friends was a hoot. And her love life felt plausible. The twists were so good completely blindsided me. Definitely swipe right on this book!

Kitty Collins comes from money and the only work she has ever known is being an influencer. She spends her days endorsing brands on Instagram, living the high life with her equally privileged friends.. oh and not to mention ridding the world of the awful men that make it unsafe for women. This book follows Kitty on a whirlwind spree as a vigilante, while also facing up to her demons and finding her own happy ending.

I saw this book on NetGalley and straight away from the title and the cover, I knew I wanted to read it. If you enjoyed How To Kill Your Family then I think you’ll definitely enjoy this as well. I really enjoyed following this morally grey character, which I could feel myself routing for the whole way through. It’s full of dark and twisted humour and really fast paced - I felt so engrossed in the story and binge read the whole thing. The ideal read for spooky season in my opinion. I do think you have to go into this book with an open mind as some of the storyline is completely bonkers and unrealistic BUT that absolutely did not take away from my enjoyment of this book!

I will note that it does come with trigger warnings of sexual assault, rape, violence, miscarriage, mental health and eating disorders. I think Katy Brent has created a brilliant book that acts as social commentary and touches on issues that are a genuine downfall within our society. I’ll definitely be keeping my eye out for any future novels of hers.

Thank you HQ and NetGalley for e-ARC of the book.

Kitty Collins is an Instagram influencer by day and a vigilante by night.
This book made me experience a lot of emotions - disgust, fear, sadness, joy and many more others. I enjoyed that Katy Brent used some pop culture references, well-known brands and descriptions that all that happened in this book seemed believable to me, characters were easy to imagine among all the graphic descriptions of violence.
This book will definitely provoke many emotions and thoughts.

I tried to like this book. The cover is fun and even the premise is amusing, but every single character is so unlikeable and vain, I couldn't get past the snark and sarcasm to enjoy it.

Well that was a rather dark read. Full of dark humour and extremely gory but if you like that in a book this is a great read. I absolutely loved it!
