This was a roller coaster of a read. I honestly didn’t know how it would end. It kept me guessing until the end. I loved it!

Not quite as strong as The Stillwater Girls, but still a compelling back story. The middle was muddled and didn’t make a lot of sense and threw off the flow, but I did like the ending.

Pros: This is the second book I’ve read by this author. I appreciated that this book had short chapters, which made for a fast-paced read. I think this would be a good book to read at the beach or when a reader is looking for a quick, easy read.

Cons: I am burned out on thrillers that use a dual timeline and/or tell the story from multiple points of view. This book was fine, but it will not stand out to me in this overly saturated genre.

Thank you to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the opportunity to read this book.

Celia is the oldest of 3 sisters and goes missing. Her older sister and husband are trying to track her down and figure out what happened. "Gone Again" kept me guessing and I couldn't put this book down. I always enjoy Minka Kent's writing and this was another great book.

I love Minka Kent's books so I went into this with great anticipation and it did not disappoint! Three sisters, Celia, Genevieve, and Celeste are raised by parents, Rebecca and Jim (a deacon in the Church of True Believers). The girls have little freedom as the church watches over them and their parents are zealous in their adherence to the tenets of the church. So when Celia is sent to a "camp" for attempting to escape, she is forever changed by the extreme measures they employ to get the behavior they desire. Fast forward to the present as Celia disappears after her 4oth birthday party and no one can find her. Secrets, lies, crazy ideas all abound in this novel and kept me reading late into the night! Such a great one from a master writer!

Celia tends to run when things get heavy. But as you learn about her life and all she’s endured, it’s completely understandable. I thoroughly enjoyed this story about a complex family, how their home life shaped three women, and how their paths converge later in life.

I greatly enjoyed this story! Very engrossing, well written and somewhat sad. It is told from Celia and Genevieve's perspectives with several people that could be the villain. I was quite surprised with who it is! The dysfunction and wrongful intents of outwardly "good" people are seemingly always unending. People always try to cover up things they have done and know are wrong. Minka Kent has delivered another great read!

Celia grew up in a strict and abusive religious household, and left home as soon as she was 18 years old, leaving her two younger sisters behind. Now, happily married and celebrating her 40th birthday, she receives a chilling note hidden among her gifts, and sets out to discover who sent the note. Gone Again centers around Celia and her fractured relationships with her two sisters, told in alternating time frames, as well as the harrowing abuse she suffered as a child under the guise of her family’s religious beliefs, as she hides a painful secret. This is a quick read, with lots of tension and suspense, as the family secrets slowly unfold. I’ve never been disappointed in a Minka Kent book, and this one is no exception, and it’s another winner! I received an arc of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Gone Again is about a woman named Celia. It seems like Celia has the perfect life but does she? Once again Minka has written a page turner! Her books are intriguing and get characters are so interesting. I highly recommend this book!

The protagonist of Minka Kent’s latest novel tends to take off when stressed. She’s been staying put for the last couple of decades, having found loving peace and comfort in her marriage, but then at her 40th birthday party she gets triggered by a menacing note and she’s…gone again.
Ah, see. OK.
So the, the rest of the novel her divided into is her husband and sister trying to find her and flashbacks revealing the ugly family dynamics and secrets that led the sisters (there are three of them altogether) to turn out so messed up and different from one another.
So really, this book is trying to be a thriller but ends up devolving into family drama and then devolving further in a sisterhood Lifetime movie of the week.
Kent is one of those authors who tapped right into the popular fiction trend and learned to produce one solidly mediocre book after another. I’ve read…sheesh, four of them now, this is the fifth, because while they may be mediocre, they are at least reliably so. Plus, unlike so many of these types of thrillers, they are pleasingly lean and make for very quick reads.
Nothing special or memorable; in fact, wildly generic, but mildly entertaining. Something like a beach read. Thanks Netgalley.

Gripping thriller that alternates between past and present day. This story captures sisterhood and paints a realistic story of enduring and recovering from religious trauma. This book was a quick read and I enjoyed it very much! It was my first by this author, but certainly won’t be my last.

This first Minka Kent I read was “Unmissing”, and I thought it was fantastic! That gave me high hopes for this book, and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. I don’t think this was as good, but both are great thrillers.

This is the story of three women, sisters named Celia, Genevieve and Celeste. Celia is the oldest, and is always in trouble with their devoutly religious and abusive parents. Genevieve is the typical middle child, always trying to please in order to gain positive attention. Celeste is the youngest, and had it the easiest of all of the girls.

Celia, always finding herself in trouble, was constantly running away as a child, usually to escape punishment. On the night of her 40th birthday, she once again disappears - did she run away again? If so, what would be the reason? Was she attacked? Was she drugged? Is she still alive?

While her husband and sisters start digging, more and more dirt is spread about. Family secrets are revealed as the past comes to light, and they definitely aren’t good secrets (if there’s even such a thing!). This is a pretty quick read, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. Four solid stars for a book that hooked me right from the beginning.

Started slow, but once it picked up, I was totally invested. This was a quick, good read. It was a little anticlimactic, and honestly, I didn't like most of the characters. It's worth the time, there was a twist that is predictable about 75% in but a good ne all the same.

I enjoyed this book but there were so many unresolved plot points. I also felt like the ending was too rushed and the book could have been longer. It was an interesting plot. Thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for the ARC!

This book had a strong opening, I was really intrigued and excited to keep reading. However after Celia’s disappearance, I felt that the story became a bit slow. The alternating pov was nice, but I felt like I wanted to read more about Celia and Genevieve’s relationship. There wasn’t much character development and the ending was just okay. Still a good read. Thank you for the ARC! 😃

A five-star read that you won’t want gone. I will be honest, this wasn’t my favourite by this author, I don’t know the end just didn’t leave me how I wanted it too, but the rest was simply divine. Celia Guest mmmm she is one, when you merge the past and the present it all becomes clear or does it. There were bits that I was a little grubby with, but that is my issues and likely ones that won’t bother anyone else, but most of this kept me hooked. If you like your story twisty and suspenseful then you need this author in your life.

Amazing suspense that kept me guessing until the end. Loved every page.

Celia had a terrible childhood filled with guilt, punishments, abuse, and a lack of love. When she meets Rob Guest she not only falls in love with him but sees him as her way out. On her fortieth birthday after a long celebration with friends she once again can't sleep and decides to go for a drive. That feeling of being watched is still there but she has no idea what is about to happen to her.

Genevieve has recently reconnected with her big sister Celia after 20 years of being apart. When Celia left at 18 years old they never heard from her again. Gen resented her for escaping and leaving her behind. After much work, she finally finds her sister and moves close to her. They are still not as close as Gen wants and she still harbors resentment toward her.

The mysteries of this book will keep you guessing from beginning to end, don't peek either as it is so good.

I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

I love Minka Kent, and the end did come around and get interesting, but it just didn't keep me flipping pages the way most of her books do. None of the characters felt especially real and I didn't love any of them. I also found it a little confusing that the sisters' names were Celia and Celeste, that's probably just me but they were a little too similar. Still, it's a pretty good read, Minka Kent is always worth a read.

Another great book by Minka Kent. I’ve read everything she’s written. This book captured my interest from the start and I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend it.

I have enjoyed other books from minka kent but I had a hard time getting into this one. Enjoyed the writing but ultimately could not draw me in. I did finish it and I would recommend, just not for me. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC
