I’ve always really enjoyed Minka Kent’s books, so couldn’t wait to read this one. This did not disappoint. I love her fast paced storytelling. This one had me captivated! The ending fell a little flat for me, but overall I still loved it.

I loved Unmissing, also by this author, so I was really excited to read Gone Again. I loved the dual timelines and multiple POV's in this book. It was a decent story but probably not one that will stand out for me sadly. I think I expected a bit more from the ending, which fell a little flat for me. I love this author's writing style though and I zoomed through this book. I'm looking forward to reading what she writes next.

⭐⭐⭐/5

• domestic suspense
• childhood trauma
• two compelling storylines/timelines

I enjoyed the past storyline, but the present one left me with a lot of questions. The ending seemed a little rushed too. I wanted more! But it was a quick read and held my interest - I'm a big fan of this author and will continue reading her books!

🗣️ Thank you to @netgalley and Thomas and Mercer for the opportunity to read and review this book via gifted eARC! All opinions are honest and my own.

Let me start out by saying I absolutely love everything this author writes. I have read everything under the Minka Kent pen name and numerous books under her other names. I always look forward to reading her books as she never disappoints. I find her writing entertaining and exciting. Ive had an ARC copy of this book for awhile now and my only regret is not reading it sooner. I had my hesitation in the beginning about reading a book with extreme religion as major factor in the book. As a Christian woman myself sometimes it can be hard to hear these type of stories portrayed but I feel the author did a good job Though this is fiction I know that there are fundamentalist groups out there that can be extreme and pervert and alter beliefs to fit their own narrative. This book does a good job reflecting that. I enjoyed this book. I gave it a 3.75 round up to 4 stars.

Thank you to Minka Kent, Thomas & Mercer, and NetGalley for providing me with an advance reader ebook copy of Gone Again for me to read and review. What a wild ride! I love when I have no idea what is coming next or where a story will turn and Gone Again did not disappoint! There were a number of engaging red herrings and a number of unexpected twists. The slow reveal of each character's personality and role in the plot lent itself excellently to building the suspense within this unique story. Definitely one that I will recommend!

Gone Again starts with the disappearance of Celia Guest who has everything but is still not content. Her estranged sister Genevieve tries to uncover the secrets of her past to find out what happened to her.

I was utterly absorbed in this story right from the start. Told from the PoVs of both Celia and Genevieve, a lot of secrets are unravelled throughout. The writing was fast paced, simple, captivating and emotive since it revolved around siblings and family.

While I was intrigued by the premise, the characters were all unlikeable and I did not feel connected to any of them. I was not really impressed with the ending but overall that did not take away from my enjoyment of the book as a whole. A popcorn thriller that can be devoured in a single sitting.

Heart racing, heart breaking and some moments I was holding my breath.

Such a talented writer who has a way to suck me in and keep me hooked until all the mysteries are solved.

There are such heavy topics in this book but Minka approached them brilliantly.

The book was fast paced, addictive, easy to read and had one satisfying ending

Thank you for the chance to read this ARC Netgalley, publisher and Minka Kent!

4.5/5 stars EASILY

Second book I’ve read by this author and like the first one - did not disappoint.

On her fortieth birthday, Celia Guest has reason to celebrate. She has a loving marriage, a beautiful Connecticut home, and treasured friends. Celia has everything she’s ever wanted. But among the cards and well-wishes, she discovers a disturbing note: You don’t deserve any of this.

Who could be so cruel, so resentful, so…knowing? Then, in the early morning hours, Celia vanishes without a trace.

This is fast paced and thoroughly entertaining, I read it in one sitting. I love a story with sister relationships, this one was told from the point of view of sisters Celia and Genevieve. While we navigate Celia’s disappearance we learn about their abusive childhood growing up with a zealot father and his religious fanaticism. The choices made years ago and the knock on effect decades later.

Read if you like creepy, family secrets and lots of twists.

Many thanks to @netgalley and the publisher for a #gifted advanced reading copy.

What a read! The synopsis does not give justice to the enthralling story that is ‘gone, again’ but I’m glad I didn’t have a lot of background going into this.
Celia and her husband Rob are celebrating her fortieth birthday when she disappears the following day, leading her sister Genevieve to start looking for her.
This is not just a thriller but an emotive story of romantic relationships, sisterhood and small towns.
Highly recommend reading.

I read this author's book Unmissing and loved it. I could not wait to get into this one and boy is it a good one. Another book to keep you turning the pages. This was a quick read too as I devoured it.

Celia tells her story in past and present. Her life is very sad for the first eighteen years. Her parents are into a very strict religious organization. I would call it nothing short of a cult. If you don't tow the line you get severely punished. I mean severely. Bad things happen to children that can't be controlled. Celia is determined to get away from this horrible life. After what happened to her you won't blame her either. After some of the things she experiences you will root for her to get away.

Genevieve tells her story past and present also. Her's is not as bad as her older sisters. She doesn't experience the abuse her sister did. She just learned to fade into the distance. To be somewhat invisible. She did what she was told without any questions.

Then there is Celeste. She's the baby of the family. The one I had so many questions about. I thought one thing about her and Celia but I was wrong. It was much worse. So much worse.

After Celia's fortieth birthday party she gets a note that disturbs her greatly. She drives away to clear her head and runs into trouble she wasn't expecting. Everyone is looking for her and no one seems to know what happened to her. Could she have run... again. Be gone... again.

This book will keep you turning the pages until the very ending. You will be guessing at who did what and why but I don't believe you will get it. I sure didn't and I usually do. I didn't like Genevieve at first. I thought she was a bit petty. But she did grow on me and I understand now why she felt the way she did. She had no idea why Celia truly ran. Their parents were awful but their dad was the devil. Some things she will find out make it clear. Everyone was affected by the actions he took.

Can these three sisters ever become close. Can they bury the past and move on. Will their be any justice for what some did. This book does not leave you hanging. You'll find out everything and more.

Thank you #NetGalley, #MinkaKent, #Thomas&Mercer, for this ARC. This is my own true thoughts about this book.

Five big stars and I highly recommend it. It's really very good.

I love Minka Kent, and her books are perfect when you want something quick and entertaining. She always has great storylines with fun twists, and this book was no exception. Told from POV of two sisters in alternating timelines, Gone Again is well-paced full of twists and turns and big secret reveals. While the ending fell a little flat for me (I was hoping it would pack more of a punch), I thoroughly enjoyed this newest book by Minka Kent.

Gone Again by Minka Kent

I’m a big fan of Minka’s but this one fell just a bit flat for me. While I enjoyed the premise, I found that getting to the meat of the story was a bit of a chore. I also was left with a whole lot of questions. There are some twisty elements but I there’s a lot of rigmarole before getting to any meaningful part of the story.

Enjoyable domestic thriller but not my favorite work by Minka Kent.

Thank you Thomas & Mercer for this gifted DRC.

Gone Again by Minka Kent is available now in Paperback, Audiobook and eBook
⭐️⭐️⭐⭐ Book Review

Gone Again is a standalone psychological thriller filled with emotion, suspense, and secrets. It’s Celia’s 40th birthday, she is surrounded by her closest family and friends. She couldn’t have asked for a better night. When she goes through her cards/gifts she notices someone has left behind a very nasty message. “You don’t deserve any of this.” And they just may be right. Now Celia has vanished without a trace.

Minka Kent did a fantastic job bouncing back and forth between the past and the present. These flashbacks reeled the reader in allowing them to understand the dysfunctional family Celia and her sisters grew up in. The plot was complex being told from Celia and Genevieve's perspective. Although the reader is introduced to many different characters throughout the story line it is never hard to follow who is who. Kent kept me on my toes the entire time. I didn’t want to put this one down. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good thriller. I will definitely look for my next Minka Kent read very soon!

Minka Kent can always be counted on for providing a good, solid story. Gone again is no different.
Celia and Genevieve are sisters, who didn’t grow up in the best of circumstances, and drifted apart as they got older. When Celia disappears after her own birthday, Genevieve steps in to put together the pieces of a mystery, going all the way back to childhood.

I’m not sure what have I read in here. I liked that at least it was on the short part with around 20” ages and not difficult to read at all.
I have a love/hate relationship with the previous books by the author and this one unfortunately goes for the later. I just feel like it was way too obvious what’s going on and what was the big secret. Some may enjoy it but it’s not a memorable read for me unfortunately

Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author, for an ARC of this book, in exchange for an honest review.
"Gone Again" is the 3rd book that I have read by Minka Kent.
It was a dark, interesting & suspenseful drama about family secrets & lies that are finally being revealed after 20 years of silence.
I'll definitely be on the lookout for Ms. Kent's next book.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Thomas & Mercer for gifting me a digital ARC of the latest book by Minka Kent - 4.5 stars!

Celia's husband, Rob, throws her a giant birthday party for her 40th birthday. Once she got home, her insomnia got the best of her. Going through her presents and cards in the middle of the night, she finds a threatening note. She decides to go for a drive and then vanishes. Her sister, Genevieve, is worried although her and Celia had a recent falling out. She begins investigating and learns of rumors and concerns among her friends, but she knows that Celia has left before.

Told in the voices of both Celia and Genevieve, in both the past and present, we get a glimpse of their shared past with parents who were religious fanatics and abusive. Celia is desperate to keep her secrets to herself and has structured her life accordingly, cutting off contact with most of her family. This was a quick read and another good mystery by Minka Kent!

Celia has just celebrated her 40th birthday with her loving husband and all her best friends. Now she is missing. Her formerly estranged sister is determined to find her. Along the way she finds out more secrets than she ever could have anticipated. They were raised with fire and brimstone by very strict parents. This isn’t the first time Celia has disappeared. Will she be found this time? What other secrets will be revealed?

I loved Unmissing by this same author, so I was really looking forward to this one. I actually enjoyed it even more! I thought I had it all figured out, but there was a startling twist that I didn’t see coming! Highly recommend!
