This was a great read! Sucked me in from the first chapter and kept me turning pages until the end. The characters were relatable which made everything feel more real. The story was well written and flowed seamlessly making it into a page turner you won't want to put down.
This is my second book from Leanne Kale Sparks. Like the first book in this series, Kendall (FBI) and Andy (police) are working together rather than competing against each other, which I liked. I like Kendall and Andy and their growing friendship and working relationship. However, I'm not sure Sparks' books are for me. The endings are bittersweet at best and, while I'm sure this is a much more realistic take, I like my thrillers to have a relatively happy ending alongside the comeuppance. That being said, I do like the characters and may try one more in this series before I say goodbye, solely because I like Kendall and Andy.
The themes in Sparks' books are heavy, so please check trigger warnings.
A huge thank you to the author and the publisher for providing an e-ARC via Netgalley. This does not affect my opinion regarding the book.
A decent crime thriller with a realistic setting and happenings and some good relatable characters.
The story was fast paced with well described scenes and a building crescendo end.
The two lead detectives had a good rappor together and it was interesting to hear their back story’s..
I’d read more by this author.
It was well-written, captivating, and fast-paced. There was never a dull moment. I would have liked an epilogue or a chapter devoted to Frankie's POV. This way, it would have coaxed more emotions from me. I also would have been more invested in the storyline. But it was still a great read without Frankie's POV and I highly recommend it. You can even read this as a standalone.
I received an ARC from Netgalley of this one and also was able to listen on audio via a copy from the library. I will say the narration was not my favorite. The narrator didn’t do a great job of differentiating between the voice for Kendall and the voice for Adam and as the chapters don’t actually tell you which perspective your listening to it is hard to know who is talking and thinking… the narrator also had some really odd mannerisms for a few of the voices and it was really distracting.
The book as a whole was ok, the story kept me interested, though child trafficking is a tough subject matter to read about. I felt like some of the twists were predictable but also like there were a lot of moving pieces that happened to all just fit together, which didn’t feel realistic.
I personally did not like the ending. Not just because it wasn’t the ‘happy’ ending you’d want but because it all felt a little rushed at the end and also like there wasn’t enough wrap up. There were questions I still had about what happened that went unanswered and I just don’t like that feeling after I just finished a book. For some I know that’s part of the thrill, not knowing, but that’s not for me.
I didn’t dislike the book and honestly the first 90% was pretty good, but the ending just didn’t do it for me.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
The ending!!
Book #2 in the series Kendall and Adam are on another case and this one involves his niece who has gone missing. These types of story lines always have me on the edge of my seat. The writing in this series is great! I really enjoy the characters and their personalities. I can’t wait to see more for this series!
Thanks NG for this ARC
I was lucky to receive an advance copy of Every Missing Girl by Leanne Kale Sparks from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. THE ENDING! OMG! This is the second book in the series and it's as good (if not better) than the first book. I absolutely loved it and it will draw you in from page one and keep you until the unbelievable ending. SO, SO GOOD!
Ugh this book was so good but the ending was so sad. I guess not every book cna have a happy ending but I really had hoped this one would be different. This was so sad but the story was so captivating. I was trying to figure out how the two storylines would connect and then it twisted and shocked me. I wish there was an explanation of how Frankie ended up with the Schultz’s but That’s my only complaint.
FBI agent Kendall is back and teaming up with Adam the local detective on a kidnapping case.
I hate to love a missing child plot, but I can't help it ~ this was a goodie. Adam's niece goes missing and it's a race against the clock to find her. I liked that each chapter gives us the timeline of how long she's been missing. There was edge of your seat action and I know I am not the only one that's going to be talking about that ending.
I was pleased with the narration by Erin DeWard for 9 hours and 51 minutes when she was doing her own voice, but her other tones were not great and sometimes distracting.
So, this book was one of those that I forgot I had gotten from Netgalley and ended up reading it on my phone with the Libby library App as it sounded like a good book. Every Missing Girl by Leanne Kale Sparks was a good mystery thriller overall. There were parts that I felt the novel did get a tad too busy especially when we had the overlap of the two incidents from the initial grocery store shooting and the kidnapped little girl and then later on Detective Adam Taylor's niece Frankie going missing. I felt that the story tried to chuck the two cases and blend them in to work together, but it just felt too busy and somewhere in the mix - the jump between the two cases made the original one feel lost, and then when we do find out the reason why Frankie vanished, it was like a whole new storyline and then that ending was not what I had expected as often with mystery thrillers readers get a happy ending and some sort of resolve. This one had resolved but not the happy ending we expect, which in some cases made this one a bit more real as not all missing children cases end in happily ever after and reunions. So, if this is a trigger for you, then I would not read this book. In a way, the ending slightly reminded me of One Year Later by Avery Bishop and how I felt when I finished reading that book, except of course the timeline was shorter for Frankie's parents. However, in saying that, this was an easy book to read and did keep my interest and I am now looking forward to going back and reading Book 1 of the Kendell Beck Series by Leanne Kale Sparks.
Bravo! I have a new crime drama series writer to love! This is my first book by Ms Soarks but will definitely not be my last. I was worried about reading book 2 without having read book 1, but no background was needed for this story. A great book that breaks the rules. I loved the characters and the realistic way the investigation unfolded. Thank you NetGalley and crooked Lane Books for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The cover of this book is stunning and for a book that is very procedural in nature, I really enjoyed the book. I think sometimes I get bored with the viewpoints from the investigation because I feel like it's all over done but it was great.
A second book in series, I was able to read this as a stand alone and follow along. Nail-biting, exciting, full of unexpected twists and turns. Loved both main characters.
I didn't realise this was the second book. I struggled to get into it as it felt like I'd missed out on too much background of the characters
A second book in series, I was able to read this as a stand alone and follow along. Set in one of my favorite areas of the country, I couldn’t wait to dive in! Ms. Sparks did not disappoint! I need to go back and read book one now!
Even though this book is number one in the series. I easily read it as a standalone. It was engaging and held my attention the whole way through. Will be definately going back and reading.
So good!!!! Nail-bitting, exciting, full of unexpected twists and building tension. Loved both main characters. Its the second in a series, but works well as a stand alone.
FBI agent Kendall Beck and her friend/Denver detective Adam Taylor team up to investigate a case that ends up linking to a sex trafficking ring. The mystery was gripping and I enjoyed the interplay between the two main characters.
THIS BOOK IS GOOD!!!!
If you like a good story with lots of action, cops, twists and an ongoing investigation this one is for you!!!! I thought it was a regular thriller with cops but damn this was better than the average ones.
One thing I loved is that, even if there's a lot of cop talk, it doesn't get crazy so I was able to understand everything and feel the adrenaline.
Once I started reading I just couldn't stop and didn't even notice when I was close to the end. I never checked what percentage I was in!!!! I even felt it was short when it's not.
Other thing I loved is how raw it was. You might not get the "happy ending" other authors love to give to make you feel full of positivity. This was realistic, raw, hard. Be prepared to shed a tear or a few.
Do I recommend it? Damn yes!!!!!
Go read the synopsis now and hope you get it !!!!!
Thank you to the author, the publisher and netgalley for my arc!!!!
🌟 the book is available now!!!
