This is the 3rd book in the “Carey Cove Midwives Series”. This is Nya and Theo’s journey to romance. This is my first time reading anything by Ann McIntosh and I will definitely be reading more of her work. This is such a cute, heartwarming and emotional friends to lover romance. Theo is a doctor at the Carey House and he is divorced. He’s feeling kind of sad that he will not be seeing his children over the Christmas holiday. Nya is the chief midwife at the Carey House. She is a widow and stilling feeling the loss of Jim her husband. Nya and Theo are friends and could both use some joy and happiness in their lives. Theo finds a baby girl on the doorsteps of Carey House and he and Nya work to find foster parents for baby Hope. As the two are spending more and more time together caring for baby Hope they are growing closer and closer and showing their feelings for each other. Baby Hope is just what the two of them needed in their lives to go from the friend zone and is definitely the Christmas miracle that Nya and Theo need in their lives.

Will Theo and Nya be able to continue to be foster parents to baby Hope, will the two take their friendship to the next level and enjoy an HEA that they both desire and deserve?

I received an ARC via NetGalley and HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada), Harlequin Medical Romances and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

A heartwarming and emotional story of love, loss, and letting go. It all starts when Dr. Theo Turner finds a newborn baby girl on the steps of the midwife center, Carey House. He and chief midwife Nya Ademi call the little girl Hope while social services try to find a foster placement. Theo and Nya step up to share fostering duties when that proves problematic.

Theo and Nya have been friends for many years, but seeing him with Hope has Nya looking at him in a whole new way. Nya has been a widow for twenty years, and Jim's absence is always in her mind and heart. She closed herself off after his death, preferring not to risk another devastating loss. Instead, she has filled her life with work, friends, and community. She's not about to risk a treasured friendship with inappropriate feelings.

Theo is recently divorced and still dealing with his feelings of rejection and guilt. He's spent the last eighteen months burying himself in work to avoid dealing with the emptiness of his life. His loneliness is amplified when he finds out he won't see his adult children over the holidays.

I enjoyed watching the relationship develop between Theo and Nya. Because they've been friends for so long, their interactions are mostly easy. But the more time they spend together, the more the attraction between them grows, and the harder it is to stay in control. I loved how little Hope drew these two lonely people together. There are sweet scenes of simple actions, such as bathing and feeding the baby, that make Theo and Nya feel like a family. Each tries to fight the feeling, believing that the other is not interested in pursuing a relationship, but neither can resist daydreaming about what could be.

I ached for both as their fears kept them from believing in the possibilities. Giving into the attraction brings those fears to the surface and causes each of them to pull back. All awkwardness falls by the wayside when a medical emergency with Hope unites them in their worry for her. An unexpected twist removes Hope from their care, and Theo and Nya are forced to accept that their idyll is over. Nya's pain was overwhelming, but I liked how it caused her to look at her life and realize how much she'd hurt herself. Her big moment at the end was terrific and led nicely into the epilogue. I liked how the epilogue brought everyone back together the following Christmas. I especially enjoyed seeing the massive changes in Theo and Nya's lives.

This is a Medical Romance, and this is the third book in the Carey Cove Midwives series. I have not read the other book in this series before picking up this book, but I do think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. I found this book super cute, and I enjoyed reading it. I loved the characters in this book, and the baby just made the story come to life. I did find the romance to be very slow moving, and I was yelling at the characters to just make a move already. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Medical Romance) or author (Ann McIntosh) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Let me just say I am busting out of the seams with Love for this book!!! When Nia arrives early at Kerry house she thinks it is going to be a normal day and spends the morning visiting with her mom and thinking about her deceased husband who after five years she still misses.. she’s a midwife and truly enjoys her job. Dr. Theo is her coworker and friend and he is still feeling rejected from his divorce and at Christmas time he is missing his children. When he arrives at work the last thing he thinks he’s going to find is a baby but that’s exactly what he find’s on the doorstep of Kerry house. He and Nia decide’s to call the baby hope at first they hope to find her parents or at the very least a foster family to take her in for the holidays but after spending the day together with the baby they both want to foster her. They decide to take turns being one on one with little hope but before they both know it it seems they’re always a trio. I don’t want to say much more and of course this is a happily ever after Christmas romance but there’s intense emotions and I don’t just mean with the one getting over grief and the other rejection there’s so much more to the story and I just loved it! I love the characters in the story and just from the title you know it’s going to be such a wonderful ending. If this wasn’t a Brooke from Hallmark I would say it has a hallmark ending but because it is you know it does. This is a definite five star read and if you love feel good books you’re going to love Christmas miracle on their doorstep bye Ann McIntosh. I have read a few books by her and have yet to not love it! I received this book from NetGalley and Hallmark but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

Christmas Miracle on Their Doorstep by Ann McIntosh was a beautiful story to read at Christmastime. A baby left on the doorstep of the hospital makes Nya and Theo realize their true feelings of love.

A nice, light read. Author threw in a twist I didn’t expect, so that was more interesting to read. Good book.
