When I tell people in Minnesota that I eat mainly vegetarian and vegan I often get asked "doesn't that get boring?" But how could I when books like Vegetable Revelations come out? Vegetables are versatile and I really enjoyed how Satterfield writes about food. I own his Peanuts zine(?) from Short Stack and so was interested in a longer format option. I wasn't disappointed! I think this would be a great addition to anyone's shelf. A cookbook to savor when an ingredient at the farmer's market catches your eye but you aren't quite sure how to treat it. Thanks for the opportunity to read!
Thank you Harper Wave and Harper Business and NetGalley for the advanced electronic review copy of this amazing book. This is a wonderful collection of easy to follow, simple recipes of cooking and incorporating vegetables into one’s diet. I love the sections on make-it-from-scratch spice blends and dressings which are later incorporated into other dishes in the book. This one is a must have! Definitely recommend!
A nice collection of recipes for sauces and dressings! Seasoning blends, sauces, dressings, and dips are often missing in other cookbooks or added as an afterthought within the recipe and not given much care, but here those recipes are made to shine. I cannot wait to try out several of these recipes, especially the butter beans in a Greek-flavored sauce. It sounds heavenly! The Garbanzos Guisados will be dinner someday very soon! This will make a welcome addition to any home cook's personal library. Vegetable Revelations will also make a great book to base a library program around as creating spice blends together based on these recipes would be a great time.
When I first saw Vegetable Revelations I was immediately drawn to the beautiful cover. I love the vibrant contrast of the different vegetables against the fish and meat. I also think that it was important to include the meat on the cover so vegetarians don't pick up this book by mistake if they are not okay with meat making an appearance here and there. I am always on the hunt for ways to get more vegetables into my diet and the diet of my 3 teenagers and there are a lot of great recipes in this cookbook. I also really appreciated all of the great spice mix recipes at the beginning of the book as well.
This had some interesting recipes like "Everything Radishes" and "Broiled Broccoli with Halloumi and Za'atar" but I would have liked a little more recipes with vegetables are more commonly used, such as cauliflower, green beans and brussels sprouts. Other then that it has some great unique recipes I can't wait to try.
