This was such a cute read! It reminded me of Not Like the Movies and makes so many references to every single rom-com ever, so it's right up a romance lover's alley. It is very cheesy, so make sure to take your Lactaid pills beforehand. This book is more modern than many of the 90s movies and even includes some well-deserved mental health rep. A slow start, some miscommunications, but overall, a great read. Will be reading this again!
I knew from the clever title that this was going to be a joyous read and Kathryn Freeman 100% delivered upon it. There are some books that just make you giddy and this is one of them! I loved the romcoms of my teens (late 90s/early 00s) and I've been lamenting that the genre of romcom has been sorely lackluster since I reached adulthood and for the 2o years since. So this book was like the perfect tribute to the romcom genre as I remembered it....a rom com in itself, but with a quite poignant message about true love and how it looks different than the perfect film endings. I related alot to Sally and her romantic view of love as I was like her in my 20s (probably due to watching too many romcoms), but after 13 years of marriage and 2 kids, totally understand how love looks different. It is hard and messy, but so worth it. This is a steamy read, so if you are adverse to reading open door scenes, you might need to "fast-forward" through some pages. But the whole book was just a delightful read that carried me through a long weekend!
Thank you to #NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for the ARC.
You wouldn’t think it if you met me, but I’m a romcom junkie. I love them. So when I saw this book and read the premise, I was 100% on board with it. It references a lot of the greatest romcoms of the past few decades, so I was familiar with that aspect. It’s a relatively easy read, but I don’t think it was what I was hoping for. Still though, I think romance lovers will definitely enjoy it!
This was a rom com lovers dream book, with so many references to classic movie moments and even main characters named Harry and Sally. Harry is renting a room from Sally when they recreate THE lift from Dirty Dancing and gain thousands of followers on TikTok. Sally sees the potential to make some money recreating other rom com moments, and the two continue to gain followers as they post more videos showing their chemistry. Feelings get involved along the way, complicating matters.
I thought this was a fun, fluffy read. The recreations were cute and nostalgia triggering, and the playful connection between Harry and Sally was fun to read about. Harry’s reason for needing to move in with Sally was a little bit ridiculous, but it put them into a forced proximity trope that I do adore.
I was pretty bothered by Sally’s friend Kitty. I think we were supposed to like how protective she was, but man did she get annoying to me! I’m so glad she redeemed herself in the end. Her other friend Vince was a fantastic secondary character that added something extra.
Thank you to Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

The best about this book is Sally, she is a great and strong woman waiting for Mr Perfect, and you know what? she deserved to have him!
Harry was not my cup of tea but he managed to win me in the end.
𝘕𝘰𝘣𝘰𝘥𝘺 𝘗𝘶𝘵𝘴 𝘙𝘰𝘮𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘴 𝘐𝘯 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘰𝘳𝘯𝘦𝘳 narrates the story of Sally, a lover through and through and that of her flatmate, Harry, a romance cynic.

One fateful evening, Harry and Sally recreate the iconic lift from 𝘋𝘪𝘳𝘵𝘺 𝘋𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 and proceed to post it online. This sets off a chain of other recreations from classic romance movies to possibly earn more. As the pair grow closer to each other and the heat in their videos intensifies, Sally's got Harry thinking that he may not be love cynic he always believed himself to be and that he might be willing to anything to keep her beside him.

Overall the story was cute, even though Harry would vehemently oppose.
And the recreating classic romance films aspect was pretty fun.
But I wish there was some more to it.
Harry's opposition to all thing love is obvious and makes sense.
And though I adore Sally, I wish she was less laser focused on the I-want-a-love-like-the-movies viewpoint, but also proud that atleast she knew her worth and what she wanted.
All side characters were fun to read. Kitty's characters kept aggravating me and Amy's wanted to make me kick her but they redeemed themselves so all's well.
So yeah, all in all a cute wholesome story, not one I'm likely to remember, but fun.

This book is a treat for romcom lovers! So many good references, and I really enjoyed the progression of Harry and Sally’s relationship. Will definitely keep an eye out for more from this author and take a look at her backlist, as well!
When all your stereo type romcom moments are on display in all its cheesy glory!
This romance was really cute, Sally needs a roommate and Harry needs to find a temporary place after he moves out of his own house because his ex who cheated on him didn’t want to move out.
Sally is obsessed with romcoms and Harry is skeptic of love, but somehow they fit and fall in love only Harry doesn’t understand he’s in love.
This book is a perfect little romance with all the sweetness of a cheesy romcom
4 stars because near the end I felt it could have ended faster but all in all an awesome read,
Thank you NetGalley for an advance reader copy of this novel. Will be out February 10, 2023
3.5 stars!
I really enjoyed this book! It was any rom-com lover's dream. Harry and Sally are new roommates that go viral on TikTok after recreating the iconic Dirty Dancing lift and choose to run with it! Since they are both a bit short on money at the moment, they decide to keep recreating iconic rom-com moments and find themselves falling for each other during the time they spend together. This book was obviously a very cute love story with many references to the stories that raised romance lovers (like myself) but I feel like it dug a lot deeper than just a love story. This book showcases the different ways that people's childhood trauma/difficult upbringings can affect them as a whole but also the relationships they will go on to create in the future. We see this in Harry's absolute rejection and disbelief of love, but we also see this in Sally's persistence to see the happy ending in everything. It is interesting to see that their two very different childhoods created these very opposite sides of the spectrum of love. This book shows Harry and Sally discussing these differences and why they have them but keeps it light without too much focus on the sad events that made them this way.
This book was the definition of a fun and light modern rom-com. It had just the right amount of classic elements that everyone loves about romances and just the right amount of new/fresh elements (such as social media and mental health transparency). I highly recommend this book to my fellow hopeless romantics who are obsessed with romcoms and love stories!
Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner
So I liked this book, but I wish I was more romcom literate so I could have appreciated it more! The main characters, Sally and Harry, recreate iconic romcom scenes on TikTok. This book was a full of romcom references which made it fun and lighthearted, but each character had their own demons to add a more serious storyline. This is an excellent read with Valentine’s Day right around the corner!
Thanks NetGalley for this lovely love story!

Sally is a cafe owner and a total romcom junkie. She’s tight for cash and decides to take in a tenant for extra income. Harry is a construction worker who’s been hurt in previous relationships and doesn’t believe in love. After a few too many margaritas one night, she convinces Harry to do the lift from Dirty Dancing. After posting it to TikTok, they gain a lot of followers and see the financial prospect. But along the way (surprise, surprise), they catch feels.
Cute. Easy, quick read.
The story of how roommates romantic Sally and gruff Harry make a TikTok based on the lift from Dirty Dancing, it proves popular and they continue to make more based on scenes from romcoms.
I really enjoyed this but did get frustrated at times with the characters and wanted to knock their heads together with the internal misunderstandings they created and it could've been a little shorter. The characters are really well developed and I'd love to know more about Amy (Sally's sister) and how her development continued after the book (with Jack...) - or even just more about her journey during the book.
I found this book really nostalgic and did happen to find When Harry met Sally on iPlayer to watch because of it.
I haven't read any of Kathryn's books before but after this will definitely read more, I do hope she does another to this one as.

As a lover of all things rom-com I was super excited to dive into this book and it was all I expected it to be: fun, a little outrageous and full of heart. The only reason this isn’t a full 5 star read is because it took me a little time to really get into it, but once I got into it booooy was I into it. I’m talking reading at breakfast and at work sort of into it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Having said that, let’s talk characters. As a curly girl myself I loved Sally and before you tell me that has nothing to do with anything us curly girls know that it matters. She was bright and fun and quite honestly a riot to read about. My hopeless romantic heart beats to a similar beat and I just wanted to wrap her up and give her a hug and shake her senseless. Often at the same time.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Now, Harry. Rugged, handsome and smirking Harry. I love me a good smirk and a set of gray eyes. Not to mention I like my men wry and sarcastic. It’s all about the good flirt to roast ratio as Mr. Darcy can probably attest to. I loved his journey in this book and reading his POV was always a delight. Except when he spoke to his parents, but that was on them not on him. All this to say, he’s the perfect reluctant romance hero.

This book is perfect if you’re a lover of all things rom-com, a forced proximity trope and flawed but loveable characters.
I absolutely loved this book! I loved the characters, I loved the story line, and I loved all of the references to the rom com movies. The author did an amazing job of combining comedy and chemistry. Basically, reading this book is like curling up and watching a marathon of your favorite rom com movies. I will definitely be recommending this book!!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.
If you love classic romcom movies like Never Been Kissed, When Harry Met Sally, Love Actually, and Pretty Woman then this book is for you! One of the things I liked most about Nobody Puts Romcoms in The Corner was the relatability. Being able to visualize the scenes and recite quotes that were being recreated throughout the book by main characters Sally and Harry (yes, I know) made it that much more enjoyable for me to read.
Harry needs a place to stay and Sally has a room for rent. She is the queen of romcoms and watches them almost every night, Harry doesn’t believe in love. A dare about the infamous “lift” from Dirty Dancing quickly turns into several flirtatious Tik-Tok reenactments and one thing leads to another. In true romcom fashion they go from friends to lovers to enemies and well … you will have to read the book to find out if the bells ring and if dreams really do come true.
Favorite quote: When talking about romcoms, “Of course they didn’t mirror true life - few films did. But they inspired hope.”
This was the first book I’ve read by Kathryn Freeman and I’m looking forward to reading more. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Harper Collins UK, One More Chapter for sending this ARC for my review… and thank you to Kathryn Freeman for watching all those romcoms again as “research” for this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I give this book 4.5 Stars

Chemistry for days!!!
Kathryn Freeman’s latest book titled Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner is equal parts swoon and steam! Aptly named MCs, Harry and Sally, have amazing character chemistry right from the start and you can’t help but giggle and cheer them on as they navigate their feelings for each other and separate their romcom from their reality. Harry might be a new fave book boyfriend. The character arc that Freeman takes him through combined with his goodness and heart was just lovely to read. (Full on cinnamon roll hero!) I ripped through this book in record time and found it difficult to put down, which is really the best possible book problem to have, is it not?
I highly recommend this one to anyone needing a little uplifting story (pardon the pun!) and to any big romcom fan who will fully appreciate all of the great romcom movie references.
This book had me actually laughing out loud! I loved the characters and the story so much! I can’t thank NetGalley and the publisher enough for the arc and opportunity to read this gem of a book early. Easily made its way to being one of my favorites! If you love rom coms then this is for you!

Sally is the biggest lover of all things romance and Harry couldn’t be further from that. They both are put in a situation where they each need a roommate and a side hustle to make some extra cash. Harry becomes Sally’s new roommate and on a drunken night they decide to recreate the “lift” from Dirty Dancing and upload the video which goes viral. They go on a mission to recreate Romcom movies scenes and convince themselves that it’s just for the money. Little do they expect to fall in to a romcom of their own. Will Sally find her forever love story with cynical Harry?

My favorite part about this book was all the nostalgia that I got with the the mention and recreation of some
of my all time favorite Romcom movies like : The Notebook, Never Been Kissed, Love Actually, and She’s All That. It made me want to
Go back and rewatch several of the movies mentioned. Overall a cute romcom book that gives you the escape you might need. The characters do have a little more depth than you might anticipate, however, you know exactly what is going to happen and that isn’t always a bad thing.

Thank you NetGalley!
This was a light fun read that had deeper parts as well, it is a grumpy sunshine romance novel that has ‘dirty dancing’ elements. The cover alone is perfect. I adored their banter. They were a cute couple that had genuine feelings for one another. I knew it had lil spice but I expected a little more spice from it, it would have been so much better.
Nonetheless this was a pretty solid romance book that i had fun reading it and many will fall in love with this!
Have you ever read a book that seemed as if it would be shallow and predictable, only to find out that there was much more to the story than what you first assumed? That’s exactly what happened when I read “Romcom Lovers” by author Caroline Jones. From the very first few pages, I expected the story to be light and fluffy… but the characters ended up being much deeper than I anticipated.
Sally and Harry, the unlikely couple - she a passionate romantic, he an icy cynic- have made their mark as popular social media stars...all thanks to one misguided drunken bet. After taking on some of cinema's most iconic romcom moments (think classic diner scene) ...it seems like they can do no wrong! But naturally, this wild ride leads them into unexpected terrain that threatens the very thing they never expected: true love. Will these two 'heroes' make it through; will there be a happy ending? Only time will tell in this real-life romcom saga!
As soon as you start reading about Sally, you quickly learn that she loves watching romantic comedies – so much so that her friends often joke about her obsession with them. But as the story progresses, we learn that this seemingly shallow interest is actually rooted in deep sadness from events in her past. We watch Sally turn her pain into strength and become a truly inspiring character. It was really lovely to watch her grow throughout the book!
Meanwhile, we have Harry - who presents himself as a bit of an arrogant playboy at first glance - but again, his character has some unexpected depth too. He has an admirable work ethic, and he shows us how painful it can be when you have to choose between your career ambitions and following your heart. Watching him grow as a person throughout “Nobody Puts romcom In the Corner” was really special to witness (and it was also nice to see him fall for Sally).
So while beneath these deeper storylines lies an easy-to-read rom com novel, I think that what makes “Nobody Puts Romcom in the Corner” stand out is how much more there is than meets the eye at first glance. With each chapter, we get a little bit more insight into both Sally and Harry’s lives - even though they don't necessarily share all their secrets with each other right away (which is something many of us can relate to).
While I enjoy a romantic comedy this one felt a little too drawn out for me and I didn’t care for the characters enough to be rooting for them. I’m not as into the social media scene, especially making a fool of yourself on there, as a lot of people so that also felt a bit alien to me. I did enjoy this read though and would read another of Kathryn Freeman’s books in future.
If you're looking for an enjoyable read with some unexpected depth, then definitely give “Nobody Puts Romcom in the Corner” by Kathryn Freeman a try. This easy-to-read rom-com novel follows two lead characters - Sally and Harry - who both have more depth than initially expected. We watch them both grow emotionally over time, which makes this book special beyond its light-hearted rom-com vibes.
