What happens when you take all of your favorite romantic comedies and put them in a book with a splash of Hallmark? You get Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner. Kathryn Freeman absolutely nailed this, and I devoured it. I loved every single movie reference, TiKTok reenactment fail, and appreciated the name play with Harry and Sally.

I enjoyed how this wasn't your typical forced proximity romance. Harry and Sally were very comfortable cohabitating, so I'm glad when they started to reenactments were were able to feel their chemistry and see they affections changing. They are very opposite at the surface level, but deeper down they have more similarities than we realize. With that being said, it would have been a tad bit nicer to get more background on both Harry and Sally, but I appreciated the lighthearted nature of the writing.

My favorite quotes because I couldn't choose just one :

“And when you find her, she’s really going to knock you on your are.”
“Doubtful. She’d have to charge at me like a rhino.”

“For a split second their gazes collided. As She lost herself in the stormy grey of his, a bolt of something hot and sparky skated down her spine.”

“‘What was that for?’ Her voice sounded breathless.

‘I wanted to see if your lips tasted as good as your neck.’

Her heart banged against her ribs. Should she be encouraging this? But the question was out before she could stop it. ‘And?’

‘They didn’t.’ Just as her stomach started to plummet, he smiled. ‘ They tasted even better.’”

“She was right, he didn’t understand her language. Nor did he understand why the thought of her with this Mark Darcy character made his gut clench and his hands want to curl into fists.”

“The love cynic and the romantic, forced together because they live together.”

“If it helps, if I was to fall for anyone, I think I’d fall for you.”

I so enjoyed reading this book. It was a lighthearted and entertaining read.
A great book to take to read on holiday.
It had me thinking of which romcom movie scenes I’d like to re-enact.
Highly recommended.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance e-copy of this book.

Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner is a fun, flirty story of opposites attract. If you love Romcoms, you will love this story!! It's literally when Harry met Sally. Harry is damaged from his parents constant fighting and his ex doing a number on him. He doesn't believe in love and then comes Sally. She is sunshine and sweet and wants to find the love of her life. She needs help with rent and Harry ends up moving in with her and helping her boost her TikTok page with reenactments from famous Romantic Comedy movies. What follows is hilarious, romantic and lots of swoon. Although the premise is fun, the characters show real emotion and must fight through some hard issues. The side characters are a plus and over all this is a cute, fun book that I highly recommend.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an ARC for review.

This book skews closer to romance, not a genre that I usually read. If you're looking for steamy, will they/won't they, this is for you! The main characters, Sally and Harry (great names), become flatmates, and start making viral TikTok videos based on famous romcom movie scenes. This is the premise that attracted me to the story. Of course, we all know how the story will end, but it was fun getting there.

Sally and Harry are new roommates. She is paying off her sister's debt, and he needs a place to sleep because his ex refuses to leave his house.

One night, after one too many margaritas, they try the lift from Dirty dancing, on a bet. It didn't go so well, but when Sally uploaded that lift on TikTok it went viral. With the potential for earning a bit more money, they decide to do more of them.

They film more videos recreating iconic romantic comedy scenes, including the one from When Harry met Sally, which was my favourite. :)

Somewhere along the way they find themself in the middle of their own romance story.

It's the cutest story. It is very funny, but at the same time it makes you feel all of the feels... :)

Highly recommend it to any of the rom-com fans out there!

I really enjoyed this book. I loved all of the references throughout the story of some of my favorite movies/love stories. Harry and Sally’s romance was super cute and perfectly cheesy in some places.

Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC!

This was a super sweet and lighthearted read that I thoroughly enjoyed.
Just made me smile with the references to all my favourite romcom movIes.
"Bad days could be turned into good nights just by watching a romcom.
How incredible was that?" - Sally
It has a TikTok subplot where Harry & Sally recreate famous romance scenes that just creates some great tension between them.
Maybe one of my only criticisms was the constant reference to Sally as his landlady, but that is only a small gripe.
Harry's parents are delightfully awful. And it is a true talent I think to be able to create characters that you can despise so much.
It was nice to see how they each supported the other through the drama created by others in their lives.
"We can watch those films now,' he said finally. 'If you want.'...'you'll watch
Pretty Women and She's All That with me?"
I'll post a list of all the movies mentioned because it would be a great list of the 'Must watch romcoms'
Overall, just devoured this romance filled, fast paced read.

This book in 3 words: Steamy. Lovable. Rich.

Harry meets Sally when he's looking for a room to rent and she needs the extra cash. A drunken night leads to a viral TikTok, recreating a classic rom-com moment. The roommate situation is interesting as Sally is all things love and rom-coms while Harry is a romantic-cynic.

YOU. ARE. KIDDING. ME. This book is like a dream come true. Here's the highlights:

1. The TikTok aspect of the story works in a way that isn't annoying. I think this is hard to pull off and I was pleased with the result.
2. This is so easy to read. Sucks you right in.
3. Grumpy Sunshine trope is one of the most superior.
4. Not the spiciest book you'll read, but a significant amount of steam.
5. The characters are robust, interesting, believable, and actually funny. I love a book that makes me laugh.

If you're into rom-coms, this is an absolute must read. My first read by Kathryn Freeman and it certainly won't be the last.

This was my first Kathryn Freeman novel, and it definitely won’t be my last.
I fell in LOVE with this book. Thank you to NetGalley for allowing me to read this one ahead of its publication.
Harry & Sally are perfectly written. I could see this one being a TV show one day.
It also makes me want to spend some time rewatching all my favorite romcoms!
I definitely recommend this one to anyone who loves romance!

Cute rom com book. It is a perfect story for rom-com lovers as there are so many talked about in this book. There are definitely the romancy, cute, lovey parts and some smut throughout the book. It is cheesy, but who wants a rom com that isn't

Reviewed for NetGalley:

This novel had all the makings of a great romance: new roommates, love of romcoms, and the main characters are aptly named Harry and Sally.

Howevee, I just didn’t enjoy the rennactment of movie scenes for the tik tok generation. Just didn’t work for me.

The Romcom movie references in this one were so fun! I thought it was cute all the different video Re-enactments mentioned. The story was lighthearted and fast paced. I struggled to connect with the characters though. There wasn’t anything about them that made me feel attached to them.

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an ARC of “Nobody Puts Romcoms in the Corner” in exchange for my honest review. This novel will be release 02.27.23. Overall I love romance books even when they’re a little cheesy and I had a ton of fun following along with Sally and Harry’s unlikely love story!

Sally and Harry are roommates who don’t always get along. Harry is grumpy and sally is sunshine which is a troupe I always enjoy. One night they go viral on tik tok and thus our story begins. I really liked the use of the modern social media app throughout the story it felt very realistic! Overall it was a quick and cute read.

Highly recommend.

When I saw this cover and title I was so excited to try this book.

However it’s a little too cheesy for me. That being said if you are obsessed with Rom coms then this is the book for you.

I don’t even know where to begin. This book was so much more than I expected! The actual idea behind ‘Nobody Puts Romcoms In The Corner’ is absolutely genius, and so unique!

Sally and Harry are both extremely likable (even thought Harry is described as a grump - he never comes across unlikable)

The love of romcoms in this book is so relatable - I’m mean, HELLO, I’m reading a romance novel, because I too love romance and romcoms!! I absolutely loved all of the nods to my fav romcoms and classics that we all hold near to our hearts! I realized I was hooked from the moment they attempted “the lift”…

This book was pretty decent in length, but I couldn’t put it down! Perfect for Valentine’s Day, as the release date is scheduled right before the holiday.

I would like to put it out in the universe for Kathryn Freeman to do a few spin offs of the other characters lives, where we can still get a glimpse at Harry and Sally! I’d love to know more about Mike and Trixie, etc!

Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins UK, One More Chapter for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Dirty Dancing is one of my absolute favourite movies, so course I had to read this! The cover and title alone brings me so much joy.

When new roommates Sally and Harry film their reenactment of the memorable Baby & Johnny lift (I legitimately laughed out loud while reading this scene), they unexpectedly go viral, sparking an idea to continue bringing popular rom-com moments to life on social media.

This story was filled, and I mean filled, with nostalgic movie scenes! It was so, so fun.

With Harry being a love cynic and Sally searching for her soulmate, these opposing roommates brought so much heated tension!

Harry was a big man with a down-to-earth personality, and I loved seeing him adorably confused by his growing feelings for Sally. It's a lot of push and pull between them, but their dialogue was incredibly addictive. There's a perfect amount of depth to their personalities, too.

So many warm fuzzies while reading this one! A book truly made for rom-com lovers!

This book is a lot of fun! If you adore classic romantic comedy movies, you will enjoy this and laugh your butt off!

Sally and Harry are unlikely roommates. He's a cynic who doesn't believe in love and she's a rom com lover who is waiting to meet her perfect match. One night while joking around, Harry says the big lift from Dirty Dancing is no big deal and that they could do it. So they try, which is hilarious, and thus begins Sally's booming Tik Tok account where they reenact other famous movie scenes as well.

This is a sweet, funny book that also deals with heavier subjects, which I want in my romance novels.

Highly recommend.

Fantastic! I was giggling every few pages because of Harry and Sally's antics. This book was such a throwback to all of the romcom movies of the 90's and early 2000's and it made my heart glow. I couldn't put it down. Honestly, go into this just knowing that you love romances or romcoms, you don't need to know anything else because just like Sally's love for romcoms, this book is all about HOW they fall in love rather than WILL they fall in love.

I am charmed and can't wait to recommend this to everyone.

I loved this story! It was fun and funny and heart-warming, and the love story is wonderful. Harry and Sally (how perfect is that?!) have such a fantastic roommates, friends-to-lovers, opposites attract romance. Sally is a hopeless romantic who believes in soul mates and loves love. She watches rom-coms and hopes for her own happily ever after, and she is the sunshine to Harry’s grump. Harry is more of a cynic. He doesn’t believe in love, soul mates, or any of the other romantic stuff Sally lives for.

As much as Harry doesn’t think he can ever live up to the standards put in place by rom-com heroes, Harry is pretty swoon-worthy. Just the fact that he agrees to reenact famous scenes from popular rom-coms is swoon-worthy, but he does so many other things that give him rom-com hero vibes. This book is a delight for anyone who enjoys rom-com movies or ever thought it would be a good idea to reenact some of the most famous scenes in rom-com history, including the lift in Dirty Dancing, the clay scene from Ghost, the fake orgasm scene from When Harry Met Sally (hilarious!!!), and more for TikTok. Oh my gosh, these scenes are fantastic, and I love how Sally and Harry put their own little spins on each. Some of the scenes are uproariously funny, others are cringey, and more are romantic and lovely.

Though the story is light and swoony, it deals with some heavier topics too, including strained sibling relationships, divorce, grief, and troubled relationships. Sally and Harry have baggage, and Harry especially has walls built up. He has great friendships, but he hesitates to let romantic interests in. Considering he is a mediator in his parents’ loveless marriage and he’s been cheated on, this isn’t surprising.

Sally bases her beliefs on her parents’ relationship, even though they died when she was a teenager. I like how both characters have revelations about love, romance, and deeply committed relationships. Sally teaches Harry what love is, and Harry shows Sally more about love when the cameras aren’t rolling. The small, day-to-day ways you show someone you care are as poignant and touching as the bigger, grand gestures. And some of the things he says to her prove he’s way more romantic and in love than he realizes.

I also really liked the friend groups in the story. Sally has two friends that are the best, and Harry’s friends are so funny. I love the banter and teasing and how supportive they all are of each other. Harry and Sally are really lucky to have friends like these even though they go a little overboard in their fierce protectiveness or overabundance of teasing.

If Sally and Harry were real and had this TikTok channel, I would totally subscribe! Their chemistry is off the charts, and their love story is funny, uplifting, and romantic with tons of laugh-out-loud moments, sexy times, and touching scenes.

Special thanks to NetGalley, Rachel’s Random Resources, and One More Chapter for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.
