The author reveals what life was like as a child in Poland. It is written very well and was a delightful emotional insight into what some people went through. It is well written

Books like this are so important to read. I don’t want to say that it was an enjoyable read due to the subject matter but it’s a subject that everyone should be aware of. It’s important to read about and acknowledge what has happened. I felt that this was written really well by the author and an author that I’d be interested in reading more from.

WOW, just wow. Everyone should read this book even though it is very difficult to read it is so important and will stay with me for a very long time. Tova is one of the youngest survivors of the holocaust. Thankyou so much for sharing your story.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book. I have chosen to write this honest review voluntarily and it reflects my personal opinion.
Tova describes her life from a toddler through to the current day, supported by the record created by her father throughout WW2. The details are often harrowing, especially from a child's perception, but the value of this book is not sensationalism, rather the emphasis of remembrance of the lives that were lost. The numbers killed are so enormous as to be incomprehensible, while those who remained alive constantly lived in fear. It is understandable that Jews who survived were affected by the lives they had led and I found it interesting that Tova had moved from country to country, seeming almost nomadic, when I expected her to want to settle down.
I admire her goal to ensure the word is spread so that the world never forgets the cruelty, prejudice and man's inhumanity to others although this inevitably led to criticism of other countries. I have taken from this book that remembrance is key to acceptance.

Definately a must read to keep the history alive. We should never forget. This should forever be as shocking as the first time you hear a survivors story.

This was an incredibly emotional read, inspiring and shocking in equal measures.

A heartfelt memoir, I did feel like the first half of the book greatly exceeded the second half which I felt was about drawn out. However I still found it at truely beautiful account of such a tragic time

This was a heartbreaking but an amazing read of the true story of Tova Friedman who survived Auschwitz. I will never forget the story of this courageous girl.

This was a fantastic read but heartbreaking. The level of detail in what happened allows the reader to really get to know the people in the story and get an idea of what Tova, and other Jews, went through.

This is a harrowing account of Tova Friedman who was only 5 years old when she was sent to Auchwitz. Against the odds she survived and has written this to hold humankind to account and ensure these atrocities are never forgotten or repeated..
Excellent but emotional.

There aren't enough stars to give this amazing and moving book. Having read so many books about the Holocaust and the camps you think you have heard everything, then a book comes along and blows you away, and tells you things you have never heard before.

The book is the story of Tova, born as Tola, who was born in Poland. She spent her early life in a ghetto, and was sent to a Nazi labour camp at the age of 4. How she survived was a complete miracle as she would have been deemed to young to be 'useful'. Meanwhile so many friends and family were killed around her. In fact at the age of 6 she was taken to a gas chamber but had a miraculous reprieve. Due to her mother's quick wittedness, and her own strength of character she survived the war, and was finally liberated from Auschwitz but her story doesn't stop there. It is the continuing story of post war antisemitism by the Poles and the Ukrainians, where Tova and her family were forced to travel back to Germany and then to America. Tova lived the rest of her life between the brand new state of Israel and America helping others in so many ways.

Tova is an amazing lady. From all her many harrowing experiences she could have been bitter and turned against the world, but she has used her unique experiences to help others. A truly outstanding example, and why everyone should read this book and NEVER FORGET.

If you have a specific interest in reading books on this particular topic, this is certainly one that you should check out.
For example, if you read any of Heather Morris' books on the subject matter, I have a feeling this one will equally resonate with you.
This is told from the perspective of a young girl, which makes it stand out from others that I have read previously.
It is incredibly well written and feels like it should be mandatory reading among society.
It is tough and obviously frustrating and heartbreaking but it is somehow powerful and uplifting at the same time.
The fact that it is a true story, instead of a fictionalised account, makes it even more of a must-read, for me.

A very powerful and gripping story that is difficult to read in some parts but worth sticking with. This is a first for me by the author and one I enjoyed and would read more of their work. The book cover is eye-catching and appealing and would spark my interest if in a bookshop. Thank you very much to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this ARC.

The most harrowing read I have come across - how a child so little can witness the horror of a concentration camp and its preceding ghettos and be able to survive and express it is beyond belief. Had this story been fiction it would have been horrible enough but to know that this is what happened to millions of Jews (and other minorities) in the second world war fills me with horror. For Tova, only 5 at the time, to bear witness to the atrocities of Hitlers reign, this book is her legacy and we should, however painful, read and never forget that this happened - within some of our lifetimes.

I have read many books on the Holocaust so this subject was not new to me however I found The Daughter of Auschwitz a harrowing read.

The account given by a five year old Tova of life in the Gheto followed by the journey in a cattle truck to Auschwitz and her experiences there made a harrowing read.. All credit to Tova in getting here novel told and printed. Everybody should read this and know what went on and about mans inhumanity to man.

An extraordinary account of one child's experiences as a Jew in Poland during WW2.

The book gives a vivid account of the inhumanity borne by Jews in the ghettos, then during transport and finally, in the concentration camps. Were it fiction, it would seem unbelievable, but these are memories from Tova Friedman who managed to survive the ordeal.

A must-read book.

Incredibly powerful book just filled with experience after experience that leaves you wondering how Tova stayed resilient to the end. Horrific images poured from the page from the memory of such a little person. The need to tell this story and make sure that the horrors are never forgotten is met. The language makes this easy to read even if the topic is so disturbing.

Knowing very little about the horrors of World War II and Auschwitz if found this book absolutely enthralling. What and amazing but horrific story. How can man be so cruel and barbaric to others that don't fit with their 'norm'. Should be read by everybody. This story must continue to be told.

The Daughter of Auschwitz was a hard read, mostly because the writing style made conditions in the camp very vivid. It is worth reading to understand what life was like in WW2.

What a powerful book. I read The Daughter of Auschwitz incredibly quickly and even though I've read many books on the holocaust, this one really touched me. Tova's is a story of resilience in the face of adversity. It's a story that shows the value of family and friendships and the obligation we all have now to not forget what happened during those terrible years. Her memoir is full of difficult moments and some of them are hard to read. But the life she's led is remarkable and her story is incredibly touching.
