I just reviewed All Her Little Lies by Becca Day. #AllHerLittleLies #NetGalley
All Her Little Lies by Becca Day was one of the best mystery- thriller books I read in 2023. The main reason I enjoyed this book is because the plot line is a very believable premise. As a parent how far would you go to help or to protect your child from a murder conviction? The twists are believable and keeps one on edge til the end.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC.
A taut, tense and twisty read. The type of book that tricks you into thinking you know the ending but then pulls the rug out from under you.
Becca Day is officially one of my favorite authors! Her writing style is captivating, her characters so well developed that you feel like they're your friends! I loved this story, I loved the suspense, I loved the twists and I truly could not put it down! 5 stars!!
This book was very well written. Never missed a beat. It moves at a fast pace and will have you guessing who the suspect is. Relationships will be tested in this book.
Wow!! Just wow!! I’m speechless and that doesn’t happen very often. This is just completely addictive and impossible to put down.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.
Another great psychological thriller. Enjoyable and quick read for me.
Cynthia and Alex have always been like sisters. Living and working for years on Cynthia's mother's sprawling farm, they've raised their families together. It was the perfect life until the fateful night that Alex finds Hannah, one of Cynthia's eighteen-year-old twins, inexplicably murdered in her own home.
Soon Alex's life is spiralling out of control as she questions everything she knows and everyone she trusted. And when local detective, Stefani Warner starts investigating Hannah's murder, one prime suspect quickly rises to the fore: Daniel, Alex's nineteen-year-old son.
Impossible to resist, impossible to predict, impossible to put down . . .
Alex and Cynthia have been friends for years, working together on Cynthia's farm, with their kids growing up together. When Hannah is murdered, it breaks open a chain of events, secrets and lies. Whilst the detective investigates, Cynthia also races to find the truth.
Excellent thriller! Keeps you guessing throughout, with a brilliant plot and characters. Great author, I raced through the book, trying to guess the killer and what happened!
Cynthia and Alex have always been BFFs. But when one of Cynthia's twins is murdered, her life spirals out of control, and she must question everyone around her. Becca Day is back with another twisty thriller you won't want to miss!
This mystery is a good read. The characters came alive for me and the story flowed well. Cynthia and Alex are best friends and have worked on the farm together, but then a tragedy occurs which tears them apart. How far would a mother go to.protect her child. The story has some twists and turns, but overall it is good. I prefer my mysteries to be a bit less predictable, but I still think this book is worth recommending.
I thank the author, publisher and Netgalley for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
All Her Little Lies by Becca Day.
Everyone's convinced her son is a killer, but Alex Forrester knows him best, doesn't she?Cynthia and Alex have always been like sisters. Friendship, family bonds, even her own marriage are not what she thought, and threats seems to come from every direction, both invisible and way too close to home...
Great read with good characters. I did like the cover. 4*.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for allowing me to review this book.
Cynthia and Alex are best friends whose relationship became complicated after Cynthia became Alex's boss. Not only that, but Alex's son is dating Cynthia's daughter. When Alex finds Hannah dead, she goes into panic mode to protect her child.
I thought that this book was too predictable. Every twist was one i saw coming for miles. The identity of Hannah's secret lover, the murderer, the swirling and changing family dynamics...it was all very predictable. I also found that i had to suspend a lot of belief to get through this book, even from the get go. Why didn't Alex just call the police when she found Hannah? That alone could have saved so much grief and heartache because the killer was no brain trust. It left me with a feeling of ambivalence about the novel.
This one was a good, twisty mystery! I enjoyed the writing style of the author and was drawn in immediately. This was one of those mysteries that makes you think about what you would do in the characters’ situations. I would definitely read more by this author.
This was a rollercoaster! When I started reading, I was a bit worried I may not enjoy the book because the main character made some really questionable decisions that frustrated me as a reader. BUT, as the book went on, I really enjoyed the story and all of the twists and turns. So many red herrings and I did NOT expect the ending!
This was a page turner, I read it in one sitting! I especially loved the character of Stefani - an intelligent, compassionate police officer who keeps digging to find the truth of what happened to Hannah even when she is pressured not to.
4.5/5 stars ⭐️
Thank you so much to Netgalley and Embla Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts!
This is a well written thriller about a mom who’ll do anything to protect her son, whom she thinks has killed his girlfriend, the daughter of her best friend. It’s told through the POVs of the boy’s mom, the female detective on the case, and the victim. I guessed most of the twists but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it and binge reading it over a weekend.
I really enjoyed this twisty read. Cynthia and Alex are good friends, living on a farm and raising their families together. Cynthia's daughter Hannah is dating Alex's son Daniel. Hannah is murdered and Alex makes a questionable but understandable decision to cover up the crime to protect her son as the natural suspect. Local detective Stefani investigates the crime and is in an interesting position since her child attended school with Hannah and everyone knows everyone in this rural area. I enjoyed the sense of dread and unease and the twisty story, and as the mother of a son, it definitely made me examine how I would behave and react in such a situation.
This is yet another one I am mixed about. I really liked the first half, the beginning was dark and disturbing, the pace was great and I didn't want to put it down. I guessed one of the plot twists a little early on but it didn't take anything away from the story for me. The second half dragged but was still solid and intriguing. The ending was insane and action packed but here I get biased. SPOILER....kind of.....I know I am in the minority here but a fact is a fact and please authors if you are going to include any scenario involving drugs, even just a little research goes a long way. Although I said SPOILER, I hate spoilers so I won't go any further with it unless someone wants exact details and explanation of that. All in all, it was a Three Stars from me.
Thank you to Netgalley and Embla Books for this ARC.
Fast moving, twisty mystery. The many turns and layered narration keep the reader engaged and guessing until the very end.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Embla Books for the opportunity to read this intriguing ARC.
All Her Little Lies || Becca Day
All Her Little Lies is a standalone mystery thriller by author, Becca Day. This is the authors second book after her debut, The Girl Behind the Gate. I enjoyed this psychological mystery a lot more than her first book.
The story is told in alternating perspectives, the story follows Alex and Cynthia, mothers whose teenager children are in a relationship. When Cynthia’s daughter, Hannah is found murdered, suspicion immediately falls to Hannah’s boyfriend and son of Alex. Along the way, we are treated to Hannah’s perspective in the lead up to her murder and by the lead Detective on the case, Stefani whose own teenage daughter went to school with the victim.
Part murder mystery, part psychological thriller asking questions about how well we know those closest to us and what we would do for love. This one is a true page-turner and I read it in one sitting. Just when you think you have it all figured out, the author throws another twist or turn.
A fast-paced, chill-inducing psychological ride that you won’t want to put down. Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this novel. I am looking forward to reading more by Becca Day
Fast paced, gripping with twists and turns and a good level of unpredictability that kept me guessing the whole way through.
