If you're looking for a slightly cheezy action packed romance this book is for you! It just wasn't for me.
Callie's cheating husband turn up after 14 years with dangerous people after him, and she is just willing and ready to risk her and her son's lives to save him. Hiring her ex employee to protect her and falling in love, rather quickly.
I didn't realize this was the second book in a series, although the story seems to slightly recap the previous plot.
Still it was hard to believe and at times hard to follow.
I would much rather have watched it as an action flick.

Unfortunately I couldn’t even get through more than 20% of the book. I found it very confusing and it didn’t grab my attention like a thriller should for me to continue reading it. I can see why some people could enjoy it, it just wasn’t my jam.

A great character-driven plot, this book is just over 200 pages so it didn’t take me long to speed through it! I thoroughly enjoyed the way the main character, Callie James, evolved throughout the book. She was unsure of herself and always by the book, but she turned into a confident, assertive, kick-ass heroic woman.⁣

Full of surprises, this well-planned story with its well-developed characters and vivid descriptions gripped me from beginning to end, and I’d love to see this become a movie. (Burt is a screenwriter, so it could happen!)⁣

Overall, a read that I recommend to anyone looking for an exciting, fast-paced, and suspenseful story. I am very much looking forward to another Callie James thriller!⁣
