I received this book in exchange for an honest review. Okay so i with holiday romance books I either love them or hate them—but this one fell somewhere in between. It is a quick and fun holiday romance, but it felt slightly annoying at times. The dialogue was kinda off and cringe in my opinion, and even though I love the fake dating trope, it just did not feel right in this book.. I recommend if you simply just want a quick and fun holiday read but it wasn’t riveting.

This was a very middle-of-the-road book for me. But I do know people I can recommend this book to that will love and enjoy it. But it was good for the season.

Who says you can't read a Christmas book in February? Why must it only be during the holidays? Anyway, I did intend to read this during the holidays but life got in the way. My reading time has been significantly reduced, which is how it goes when you have a little one who runs around all day. Anyway, who's interested in Enemies to lovers with a dash of fake dating? If you raised your hand then Callaghan's The Naughty or Nice Clause is for you.

First off, the story is pretty original which for me is hard to come by and the idea itself is right up my alley. I mean I am a sucker for fake dating tropes, which is what originally lured me to this book. Mason Klaus seems like your typical ruthless businessman, and he is with a secret about his family. Secondly, I loved the winter wonderland. It's as Fantastical as the synopsis.

My third point is where the story fell off for me. I just couldn't get behind Lyla and Mason's romance. The fiery chemistry just was not there. It may be that I just couldn't connect with either Lyla or Mason, which makes me not really care about their romance.

Overall, a great original idea with a flat romance.

Thank you Netgalley, Callaghan Writer, and Kate Callaghan for the arc in exchange of my honest review.

Christmas books are a hit or miss for me always. Unfortunately this one was a miss. We love a fake dating story, but this one just fell short. Mason seemed like he just wanted to ruin everything and is the biggest Scrooge but as Santa’s son? That just felt so wrong to me and crushed my childhood dreams. Lyla was stupid to agree to any of it because the chemistry was just not there. I loved the idea of the book, but in the end I feel like things just fell flat.

I had no idea what to expect when starting this one, other than it being a holiday romance. I didn’t realize it was a fantasy kind of romance but I surprisingly enjoyed it more than I was expecting to.

It reminded me of a Christmas Hallmark movie and gave off the holiday spirit. The premise was so interesting!

The banter between the characters was so well done. I even got the grinch vibe from Mason, while Lyla had the Christmas spirit. I’m also a sucker for enemies-to-lovers so I loved the romantic chemistry between the two.

I enjoyed the magical aspect of the story. It’s not something I would typically pick up, but I did find myself enjoying it.

Unfortunately, there were some aspects of the book I didn’t love. First, the dialogue was poorly done - at times it felt awkward between the characters. Also, that ending was super rushed. It sucked because I was enjoying the book and I was dissatisfied with the way it ended.

Overall, it was a surprise holiday romance read with a touch of magic. I enjoyed the characters and the banter, and it gave me Christmas vibes! While some parts didn’t work, I still think the book was worth the read!

This is definitely a book that I could see being made into a Hallmark movie, so if that's not your cup of tea, then this might not be the book for you. I however love Christmas Hallmark movies, and thought this book was an adorable story. Now like any good Hallmark movie, this is a slow burn love story, set in a town I want to visit. LOL You can also tell by Mason's last name, what might happen in the story but for me, that was fine because I just wanted to enjoy the ride, although I do really like the spin on Christmas Eve. Overall, it was a good story, and I seriously wouldn't be surprised if I saw it on the Hallmark channel in the future.

When Lyla’s father retired as CEO of the toy company which has been in their family for generations, she was meant to receive his shares. Instead, she discovers the company is bankrupt and her father has given her shares to Mason Klaus, an investor known in the corporate world for his cold and callous nature. Much to Lyla’s frustration, her only option is to run the company with him, despite their evident loathing for one another.

When Mason cancels the annual Christmas party, Lyla throws it anyway – only for the event of the season to result in a terrible fire. With the offices and Lyla’s credibility ruined, Mason offers her a deal: he’ll forget her part in the disaster, but she must join his family for the twelve days of their Christmas holidays.

Taken to a fantastical winter wonderland, Lyla hopes that she might discover some of the secrets Mr Klaus is hiding, and maybe even a way to get her company back. However, when Mason introduces her to the secret village as his fiancée, she is horrified to realise she has no choice but to go along with the pretence – because the cost of bringing an outsider to their magical land is far too high.

Can Lyla resist the devilishly handsome Mr Klaus and the enchanting village to win back her company, or will she give into temptation?

I loved reading this during the holidays! So cute and I loved the slow burn. Like Mr. Klaus... hot lol

Spoiler…..I didn’t appreciate this one because he’s actually Santa or going to be, and he goes to the North Pole. This is more like a movie “The Santa Claus”. I DNF’d at like 30 %.

Book was cute and cozy and what you would want from a Christmas story with a touch of magic. It did need a bit more editing which made me get lost in the reading.

I really tried but I could not get in to this book. I felt like it drug on and on. I will pick it back up with a hardcopy once its released and see if that helps.

The Naughty Or Nice Clause is a cutesy, enemies to lovers, holiday romance. The characters were okay. I felt the insta love was a bit much and it ended rather abruptly with no epilogue.

This was such a good and quick Christmas read! Perfect for the winter and overall I loved the characters, the setting, the writing and the ending!

I received this book as an ARC from Netgalley. Thank you for the early read.

This book is super cute but a standard read for a romance reader. Both of your main characters HATE each other at the start of the book. The best part is the main characters work together. Lyla cannot stand her supervisor Mason. She throws a Christmas party where a fire breaks out. Mason decides this is the time to 'forget' the issue if she comes to his family's Christmas. Come to find out he is not who she thought.

The book started slow and I was afraid I would lose my interest but I stuck through and it got much better. I loved the way the author used descriptive terms. It was very easy to visualize where and what was happening because of this. It is a very good read for some one who wants a little holiday romance.

I was a bit late in reading this during the holidays, but I must admit that the story was still just as magical. The visualization in my head was as if I were watching a Hallmark Christmas special... with a bit more spice. Author Kate Callaghan did a beautiful job with creating each scene in this magical world.

It was easy to relate to Lyla. She was a well developed character with substance and her own slight flaws. Perfect characterization. Not quite so much for Mason. I had a difficult time connecting to his character and his anger issues were a bit of a trigger for me.

The storyline was good and kept me turning those pages, wanting more. The ending, however, seemed a bit rushed. Still, all in all, it was a good read.

I don’t think I’m the target audience for this one. It felt incredibly cheesy, right down to the name Klaus. I finished it and recommended to a coworker of mine who enjoys light holiday rom-coms and she loved it. Will continue to recommend to the right audience.

This is your very standard Christmas rom-com. There's a sunshine/grumpy trope.

Very generic and not that unique to what is already out there, so there's not much to say.

One of them loves Christmas and wants her colleagues to enjoy the festive period, the other doesn't and doesn't see why staff should have it off. The one who loves Christmas hosts a secret Christmas party for the staff and results in a fire at the office, so she gets caught. As punishment, he forces her to spend Christmas with his family. He uses his Christmas magic to take them to Lapland (because that would happen? Are you seriously telling me no one would notice she was gone?)

It was so predictable and didn't bother finishing

The Naughty or Nice Clause is officially one of my favourite Christmas romance books! The dynamics between Lyla and Mason were perfect throughout. I loved the whole set-up and the development of their relationship. While the ending felt a little short (rushed?) to me, overall it was great. My only regret is that I didn't read this during the Christmas season to get the peak Christmas vibes.

This was a Netgalley review.

I am a sucker for a cute Christmas love story. This one didn't quite get there for me, though. I liked the idea, the location, and the magic of it all, but the people didn't feel real, nor the romance. There were a couple of places where it came close, but I was left feeling a bit empty at the end.

Lyla should be the one to take over the family toy company when her father retires, but she discovers that he's left her half of the company while giving the other half to the cold, unfriendly Mason Klaus. Mason cancels the staff Christmas party, but Lyla won't have that, so she throws an unsanctioned party that results in the building burning down. As a result, everyone gets their twelve days off restored. At the same time, Mason has been notified of his father's death, and, saying she now owes him, requires her to join him for his family's holiday season. As she gets to know him and his family in their protected hometown, will she end up staying forever and leaving her family business, or will she leave to never again return?

It's an enemies to lovers story, but it misses a little bit, feeling a little more like insta-love, instead. I would have liked more time spent with just Lyla and Mason, or maybe some of the story from his perspective. I guess I just want more, in general.

I really really really wanted to love this, but it fell short for me. I liked the story and the characters, but it just felt like there was something missing. Perhaps the chemistry??? Idk, it felt non-existent. It was such a cute premise to a story.
