My feelings about this book fluctuated throughout. I started out having doubts since 2 of my least favorite tropes are involved: enemies to lovers and fake dating/engagement, plus I usually don't enjoy books by British authors, but this one was Irish, rather than English Not too far into it, I started to really enjoy the magicalness of it. then a little after 2/3 several f-bombs flew. I don't mind swearing if it is appropriate to the story, but in a Christmas story , it is almost never appropriate to swear much less the f-word; that just kind of ruined the book for me. I had been considering a 4, possibly 4.5 star, but I ended up giving it 3 stars and had I not enjoyed, so much of the book, the rating would have been lower.

Cute enemies to lovers romance, with lots of Christmas magic mixed in! This book was full of cheesy & cliche, and I was there for every minute of it!

This was a quick read for me, as it was easy to get caught up in the moment and enjoy the story. The characters also dealt with real life situations and more serious topics, which I think the author handled well.

I would definitely recommend if you are looking for a light, feel good Christmas read!

Plot- or character-driven? A mix
Strong character development? It's complicated
Loveable characters? No
Diverse cast of characters? No
Flaws of characters a main focus? N/A
2.5 stars

Plot moved too quickly. Marketing of the book being “naughty” didn’t live up to the hype. The relationship development between Mason and Lyla was awful. They barely talked to each other (Lyla was in her head the whole time) but somehow I’m supposed to believe they’re in love after 12 days? This could’ve been better if it was developed more.

The perfect Christmas time romance. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes and this one was extremely well done. Overall it was a very fun read.

A brilliant festive read for getting in the Christmas mood! From start to finish, I was completely enchanted. Both Lyla and Mason are very well-rounded characters, and they have great chemistry. Loved their banter and how they gradually started to fall in love.

Adults who liked The Santa Clause movie will enjoy this lighthearted romance. Perfect for a cozy read inside on a cold winter's day - it is ok and a fast read. 3/5 stars

This book is holiday cheer in a cup!

It's cheesy in a fun rom-com but make it a Christmas edition story. Lyda just got a new coworker who she despises; while she owns 50% of her family's toy company Mason Klaus has bought the other 50% and drivers her crazy. She's all about Christmas spirit and the people, while he's more of an analytical grinch. They hate each other, which makes it even more surprising when Mason brings her home for Christmas to pose as his fiances after the passing of his father. But the even more shocking part is that Mason Klaus is really part of the Santa Clause lineage and he's next in line to take over for his father. At the North Pole, it's the picture-perfect Christmas Lyda has always dreamed of, and romance as can be. Could she be falling for him? Yes, without a doubt, but does he feel the same way?

I flew through this magical book! I went in completely blind and was completely enchanted by the premise. This book is perfect for fans of The Santa Claus movies, as it takes place at the North Pole and involves an outsider, Lyla, as she agrees to visit the North Pole with Mason, who is actually next in line to become Santa clause! I loved that it was a true enemies to lovers trope and could feel the tension and chemistry coming off the pages! The entire book was such a perfect Christmas romance and I truly loved everything about it. I am so glad I picked this one up as it’s easily one of my favorite holiday romances of the season! Thank you so much to Netgalley for this eARC!

The Naughty or Nice Clause

This book reminds me of The Santa Clause 2 movie, and I mean that in the best way! This is a super cute holiday enemies to lovers story. The enemies to lovers element was a little quick for one of the characters, Mason. It felt a little out of left field. When I started this book I didn’t know it fell under the fantasy genre and had I known I don’t think I would have picked it up. I love fantasy books but I wasn’t sure I wanted to read a holiday fantasy story, I was wrong. It was smart of the author to include a little drama with Santa Clauses ex girlfriend, I loved that!

Thanks NetGalley for this ebook.

this book was SO CUTE!!! it was everything you could dream up for a perfect Hallmark-type book and I loved every second.
this book is written in 3rd person POV centering around the FMC Lyla and is a super quick and easy read
it's a slow-burn romance with steam and 1 open door scene (though I wish there was more because hello getting it on with a hottie in a magical secret Christmas village? come onnn)

the Christmas magic was very well done and so unique, I loved being immersed in this world and I hope the author makes more books about this world and this family

the FMC Layla and MMC Mason were well rounded and fun to read about and the side characters (mainly the Klaus family) were amazing and oh so lovable. I want a book about every single one of them so I can learn them even more

I don’t think one would classify as a romance book, but it was “okay.” I didn’t feel drawn in to this one unfortunately, but I really appreciate the opportunity to read and review!

This was just ok, it didn’t really get interesting until she was in the village with klaus. I enjoyed getting to know klaus’’s family and some of the people in the village. I think it could have been a little more interesting if the characters were developed a little better. Overall it was a cute Christmas read

Thanks NetGalley for this copy!

I was so ready for a cute holiday romcom but this did not deliver for me. The main characters had NO chemistry. The banter just felt mean - except that he happened to be super attracted to her? Wasn’t buying it.

The world was kind of fun and cute, but it did feel really random at first to just be thrown into something fantastical in this modern setting.

The star is for the setting and the cat. The end.

Sweet Christmas romance with an enemies to lovers plot set in the North Pole. I enjoyed the characters but the plot felt rushed at times.

The premise of this sounding amazing and I want to thank NetGalley and Callaghan Writers Publishing for a chance to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Although the pacing was lacking, I still enjoyed the premise of this book. It was a concept that was a slight spin on what we traditionally see. Overall, I just wanted me than what it gave, and at times I had a hard time seeing past what I wanted it to be. Still a good read, just fell a little short for me.

This was an enjoyable romcom that embodied the magic of Christmas. I very much enjoyed the enemies to lovers scenario between Mason and Lyla. This was an easy read with likable characters. Lyla was snarky and was willing to fight for what she wanted. Mason exuded power. And when the two of them faced off, fireworks were involved! The story was well written and well plotted and would make a great Hallmark movie.

I adored this magical realism romance! Lyla despises Mason Klaus, the man who took over the majority shares of her father’s company. He is cold and unfriendly and appears to hate Christmas. After Lyla makes the choice to have the company Christmas party behind his back, Klaus convinces her to make it up to him by accompanying him back to his hometown after he receives news that his father has died. Turns out, Klaus is from a gorgeous winter village called Yule, hidden away from the world and a literal Christmas wonderland. I love the scene the author sets of this gorgeous magical village and, while I felt that the romance could have been developed more, I loved the feeling that the book evoked during this holiday season.

This story was a great holiday romance! I loved Mason from the start and Lyla finally won me over by about one-third in. With a fake engagement and a perfect holiday setting, this romance read was one I couldn't put down. Kate Callaghan's writing made me feel immersed right into the setting and the story! I have been thinking about this books days after reading it still. Thank you to NetGalley and CallaghanWriters for an advanced copy! All thoughts and opinions are my own!

What a fun & entertaining Christmas book.

Mason Klaus was hired by Lyla’s father to help their family toy business from failure. Lyla sees Mason as a threat because he was given the majority shares of the company and is constantly butting heads with him. Mason receives some bad news while Lyla is hosting the company’s holiday party (that Mason canceled) and gets drunk. Against her better judgment, Lyla helps Mason get home…which ends up turning her world upside down! Mason needs someone to bring home and Lyla is the one he chooses!

I absolutely loved this book!. My one small complaint is that I would have loved to see a little more romance in this book..it is a super slow burn. The characters are well developed. I love everything about the setting and storyline overall
