Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

The overall concept of the book was really good, but something was missing. I love the grumpy& sunshine romance with a bit work romance and Christmas magic. The time between when they are in the normal world and when he brings Lyla into his family, was too quick in my opinion. I wish there was a double POV. It could have brought more complexity to the story.

I requested this from NetGalley for a seasonal read, and because I saw that it was an indie release. As usual, I was not disappointed.

This novel features two characters that can’t stand each other. Mason Klaus, a well dressed, but ill tempered man that overtook Lyla Smurfit’s birthright. He paid for it, but that’s not how she sees it. He sees her as an entitled, ill managed know it all. Until a letter draws him home—a home he hasn’t been to in over ten years, a home he can’t possibly go back to alone. He takes along the least likely guest ever!

This was a cute, cheesy romance. I typically avoid romance, which is why they read as cheesy to me, but as a lover of Christmas, this is typically the time of year I let one or two slip in. This one is well done, and I rather enjoyed it. Believe it or not, this is a double troped romance! Enemies to lovers, as well as pretend dating/fiancées turned lovers.

It delivers on the magic of Christmas and love, and it was an enchanting setting…the North Pole (or Yule)! It is written well, and I would most definitely check out more from the author as I believe they write fantasy normally which is more my flavor. If anything, the typical almost-heartbreak at the end could have gone on a bit longer to really sell it, but I enjoyed it anyway.

I got sucked in, and it hit the feels. Personally a 5/5*.

Such a cute PG enemies to lovers holiday read! The story flew by, almost as if it were too short. It was a bit cheesy in the beginning and I had low expectations but I quickly changed my mind. I liked the take on the North Pole and Christmas. Not an angle I've read before. Thanks yo the publisher and Netgalley for an ARC of this book!

Thank you to NetGalley for providing my with an arc in exchange for this honest review.

Sadly, I didn’t like this. The romance felt forced, the dialogue stilted, parts of it even felt unoriginal, such as the scene with the wolves. It did have a few good melts, but sadly these were outweighed by everything else.

This was such a good Christmas romance with a bit of spice. I love enemies to lovers. It's one of my favorite tropes. I didn't read the synopsis so I was surprised about the secret magic village. It was so awesome. It reminded me a little of the Santa Clause movie. Lyla is a feisty lovable character. Mason is a scrooge. Lyla helps remind him of his Christmas spirit. I also really like the side characters, Kevin being one of my favorites. I will definitely be reading more by this author. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ebook arc in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoyed this story. It's definitely an enemies to lovers romance. I really enjoyed watching Lyla and Mason fall for each other. Since they really are enemies in the beginning I love that there are a lot of interactions as they get to know each other. We get to watch them fall in love on page. This was a nice addition to my holiday reading.

The Naughty or Nice Clause was so cute! I loved the take on Santa and the North Pole, and really loved learning about the holiday magic and the enemies to lovers story was just perfect. I wanted to savor this one but ended up finishing too quickly because I couldnt wait to see what happened next. Potentially my fave holiday read of the season!

I’ve been trying to read a lot of holiday books this month and this has been my favorite so far by FAR!!!

I loved the characters. I loved that the book didn’t drag, but it also didn’t seemed rushed at all. The grumpy sunshine, enemies to lovers actually worked very well in this story in my opinion.

I want to visit Yule and ride through the streets on a sled to get some cake at June’s bakery. I loved the side stories within the plot. There was also the element of found family that was so easy going and beautiful.

The story was inclusive in an un- in your face way which I always prefer. Kate Callaghan’s version of the North Pole seemed so believable to me. There was spice, but it wasn’t all empowering and in your face. This story was just so subtle in all the best ways.

I just really enjoyed this story and would loved to pick it up and revisit the characters again next Christmas season 🎅!

This is the perfect Christmas read, an enemies to lovers, small town holiday romance.
Lyla’s father ran his own toy company, and she thought she’d take over for him after he died. What she didn’t know is that her father left his shares to Mason Klaus, an investor who cuts costs in order save the company. He nixes the Christmas party, so Lyla throws one. Unfortunately, there’s a fire and some damage.
Lyla agrees to go home with Mason after his father dies in exchange. Much to her surprise, Mason lives in a small village at the North Pole. His father has passed down his job - as Santa. She and Mason must pretend to be engaged to satisfy the Council, and as they get closer to each other and Lyla experiences the North Pole, Mason moves from being her enemy to something much more.
I loved this cute romance, 5 stars.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed as in this review are completely my own.

Lyla and Mr. Mason Klaus run her family’s toy business in not so perfect harmony. Mason cancels the company Christmas party and Lyla takes matters into her own hands. It ends up ending in disaster, an accidental fire, that ends up damaging the office pretty badly. Mason is furious but offers Lyla a deal to forget the whole thing. She must go home with him for Christmas after his father’s passing. Lyla has no time to disagree before being whisked away to a faraway place — The North Pole?? As a Christmas fanatic Lyla is intrigued by this magic town but are the town’s stipulations and secrets enough to make her want to stay? And is Mason Klaus enough to resist or is he just the same stubborn boss she’s always known? Check out this sweet Christmas book to find out!

I really enjoyed this one! I just finished watching all the Santa Clause movies and the little Yule town gave me sweet North Pole vibes! I just love the Christmas village atmosphere. It was a sweet romance and I loved the banter between Lyla, Mason, and his family! Also it provided just a small amount of spice which was perfect!

This book was released November 8th! I would like to say a HUGE thank you to Netgalley for this ARC! Go check it out 😊

This is a fun and interesting twist to the fake dating trope that is set in the holidays.

What if your partner in the family business asks you to be his finance and he turns out to be the next Mr. Klaus from the North Pole.

Lyla partly owns her family’s toy company with the scrooge Mason Klaus. The company is slowly going under, and Mason just seems like he is making it worse. Such as canceling the company Christmas party that they have every year.

But Lyla was determined to have it anyway and had it at the company. But that didn’t go well unfortunately, there was a massive fire in the kitchen, and it will take a ton of money to fix up. Money that Lyla’s company doesn’t have.

Mason offers to help pay if by one condition, if she goes home with him on the holidays. By home, he means the North Pole or Yule. Also pretending to be his fiancé. But Mason was hiding a secret and running from a past no one knew about. Mason is none other than Santa’s son who is next in line for the Christmassy throne.

There they worked towards convincing the town that they are a real couple and during that Lyla gets to know the town and family as well.

This is a book I wanted to love, this story feels original, and it was a really cute idea for a story. I mean, fake relationship with Mr. Klaus? But unfortunately, it fell a bit flat for me. The premise of the book sounded really good, and it just felt like something was missing from it all.

I didn’t see the romance between Mason and Lyla. I didn’t see the chemistry between the two. Mason felt so disconnected throughout the whole story that personally didn’t feel convinced they were meant to be together.

I think this book would have benefited Mason’s point of view as well where you see more of his life in Yule and why he is running from it.

Even though this book was on the shorter side, it felt drawn out in the middle. Nothing was really happening. Especially between Mason and Lyla.

The ending I felt was strange and rushed. Not sure what was happening at the end.

Like I said, very cute read. Just wish it was executed differently.

This book was really fun. I really liked it. The enemies-to-lovers, coworkers hating each other falling in love, the Christmas in it, the cozy vibes. All the nice side-characters in the book and the LOVELY way Yule was described. I felt so soaked into the story, totally emerged. I loved it a lot! And I am so glad I actually read it now, in December, around Christmas. Really lovely!

Yeah, this one fell flat for me.

I did like the twist on what happens at Santa's workshop. I did like Mason's brother Kevin.

But I just didnt' feel anything. There was no spark between Mason and Lyla. The romance just felt forced.

Sorry Kate, as i have liked other books of yours, but this felt a bit like a Wish version of a Hallmark movie to me.

Other will love it, but it was a miss for me

BOOK REVIEW: Had no idea what this book was about and I loved it. Definitely go into this book blind!
It was Christmassy and definitely put me in the festive mood.
It follows Lyla and Mason Klaus. They are work colleagues and they hate each other. Mason blackmail Lyla into being his fake girlfriend (later finds out to be his fake fiancé). They go to a magical village that Mason has not been home for years and we discover Mason secrets (one of the best part of this book is the plot and Mason double life).
This book was such a fun and quick read. The angst and the tension was so good. It had so many good tropes in and the magical village was very creative. The only thing I would mention was the ending felt rushed and very conveniently ended but that's okay cause Mason made up for that.

This book contains:
-Fake dating
-Enemies to lovers
-He always had a thing for her
-one bed/ one cabin
-Christmas vibes on steroids.
-Grumpy x sunshine vibe
-Gold dust

Defintiely recommend this one for a quick and festive read. Thanks Netgalley and to Kate for the ARC.

This book felt like a Hallmark Movie! It was filled with Holiday warm and fuzzies! It did the enemies to lovers trope well!

Lyla's father has retired and instead of receiving the toy company as she always dreamed, she finds out the majority shares have been sold to a man named Mason Klaus. Not only is this man ruining her future dreams, he is cold hearted and so easy to loathe. The night of the work Christmas party Lyla finds Mason drunk in his office and proceeds to get him home safely. Turns out the other employees almost burnt down the building and now they will be out of work until the new year. Mason takes this opportunity to return home to his estranged family and he brings Lyla with him without letting her know any of the details. As it turns out, Mason Klaus is next in line to become Santa Claus and he's from a magic protected village. From here, they put on a ruse that they are an engaged couple so that she is not thrown from the town with her memories erased. Over time, Mason begins to see the town and his family through Lyla's eyes and his grumpy demeanor begins to change. One would never guess there could be love on the horizon for Lyla and Mason Klaus.

I enjoyed this novel. It was a super cute and quick read, perfect for the holidays. I liked that Santa's role was changed a bit for the story, which made it unique. It was a very slow burn enemies to lovers story with a magical twist. Some of it was a bit cheesy but that's to be expected in a Hallmark Movie premise story. It didn't make me like it any less. The only part that bothered me was the wolves scene which was pulled directly from Beauty and the Beast. Other than that, I recommend it to any one looking for a quick holiday read to get in the Christmas spirit. Thank you, Netgalley and for the eARC in exchange for my honest review.
