I really enjoyed this book. My second book by this author and I intend to continue to seek out more. Twists and turns galore and a good amount of characters/suspects. Thanks to NetGalley for the privilege to read and review this book.
I didn't find this one to be a Thriller, it fell flat for me, seemed and felt predictable. I didn't love the characters in this book.
Was a no thank you from me.
SPECTACULAR domestic thriller with an abundance of suspense throughout leading up to a killer finale!! Kudos to a superb author. Highly RECOMMEND all of her books & totally look forward to more of same. Thanks to #Bookouture & #NetGalley for this ARC in return for my honest review.
Thank you to Bookouture & NetGalley for the eARC.
I love a dual POV. The courtroom drama and timeline of this novel hooked me, but I think the pacing and overall storyline were slow. I never really connected to Cassie and as a mother found her more selfish than I could get past. Overall, a decent read, 3 stars.
For me this was an OK read. It is entertaining enough and it kept me interested although there is nothing really surprising happening. It is a domestic drama interlaced with a courtroom drama told from two points of views.
Cassie and Theo are married and have their first child. Cassie is a corporate attorney and just became partner in her law firm. Theo is a former almost-famous rock star. He stays hat home with their daughter while Cassie makes the money. When Theo becomes friends with a young woman who works as a nanny and whom he met at the park, Cassie is not amused. She feels guilty all the time for working long hours and never be there for her daughter. And she is jealous that Theo might get a wandering eye. It turns out that the nanny is an old friend of Cassie from school. But that makes it even worse for Cassie. Then the girl turns up dead and Theo becomes the main suspect. Cassie is willing to stand by him and defend him in court even she has no experience with murder cases. But lie after lie is exposed and Cassie herself has something to hide, too.
The story is told alternating from Cassie’s and Theo’s POV before and after the murder. While I could warm up a bit for Theo I never connected to Cassie. Her moods are changing from one moment to the next and I never found her as smart as she think she is. She is very self-centered. But the book held my interest although I figured out the end.

For me, this book was only ok.
I dont have an awful lot to say about it.
It took me a while to get into it. It never totally gripped me and I thought the storyline and characters werent anything special.
I wouldnt let it put me off trying any other books by the author, but this one just wasnt really for me.
Many thanks to Netgalley and publishers for the chance to read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

I’m a fan of Ellery Kane, but unfortunately this book was very “just okay” for me. I wanted more, but just didn’t get it. Not bad, not great, just mediocre. Definitely not up there with Kane’s other books in my opinion.
This is a case of damned by faint praise I’m afraid. Not awful but not brilliant either. It was one of those books that took me a while to get into so then I’m wondering if it was worth the effort.
I thought this book was okay. It had a few good moments but ultimately no standout characters or plots. This just wasn't for me.
Theo and Cassie are a married couple who are faced with a HUGE problem when Theo is accused of murdering a woman found outside of his recording studio. Theo asks Cassie to represent him in court, as she's a lawyer, although not a criminal lawyer. Can Cassie be a "Good Wife" and get Theo off the hook? Or will the secrets that she starts to uncover be too much for her? This is a quick, easy-to-read domestic thriller that will have you guessing until the very end.
Bookouture you publish the best psychological thrillers and you've introduced me to many fantastic psychological thriller authors, Kane being one of those.
The Good Wife is an absolute page turner, it's twisty, compelling and absolutely riveting. It's well plotted and fast paced, so the way through to that shocker ending.
It certainly makes you wonder just how well you know someone or whether you trust them?
Told in past and present format by both Theo and Cassie, who incidentally are both fantastically flawed, credible characters, both hiding secrets from each other...The perfect recipe for relationship disaster.
Many thanks to Bookouture for my tour spot.

I LOVED this book! Such a fun read with complex characters. Cassie is a workaholic lawyer who defends her ex-rockstar husband, Theo, for killing her former best friend who he might or might not have had an affair with. The twists keep coming and how fun they are to discover! This is told from Cassie’s point of view and Theo’s past point of view, giving details lates out like breadcrumbs. Recommend reading this one!
BLOG TOUR REVIEW
Review for 'The Good Wife' by Ellery A Kane.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Ellery A Kane, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
Publication date 25th October 2022.
This is the fifth book I have read by this author I have previously read 'Watch Her Vanish' (book one in the Rockwell and Decker series) and 'Her Perfect Bones' (book two in the Rockwell and Decker series), 'One Child Alive' (book three in the Rocker and Decker series) and The House Sitter which I highly recommend.
I was originally drawn to this book by its beautiful eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that 'Fans of Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train and The Housemaid will love this spine-tinglingly tense psychological thriller with a mind-blowing twist!.' I am a huge fan of Gone Girl so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Ellery and if this is half as good as 'Watch Her Vanish', 'Her Perfect Bones', 'The House Sitter' and 'One Child Alive' it is sure to be an epic read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of a prologue, 39 chapters and an epilogue. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is based in San Francisco, USA 🇺🇸.
This book is written in first person perspective and the main protagonists are Cassie and Theo. The benefits of books written in first person perspective are as long as they are well written it makes you feel that you are being spoken to by the protagonist and it can create more of a bond between yourselves and them. If there are several protagonists you also get to see more of what is going on.
Absolutely LOVED IT!!! Yet another extremely well written and gripping novel by Ellery Kane!!
The vivid descriptions fitted the settings perfectly. The cover and synopsis worked perfectly with the storyline.
The storyline itself was quite a unique one and filled with action, mystery, suspense crime and drama which kept me reading until late at night and on the edge of my seat. Ellery completely emerges the reader into the storyline. There were loads of red herrings throughout to keep the reader guessing. I never did guess who did what which is a huge achievement for any author for me as I have read so many crime novels it's getting harder and harder to surprise me. I absolutely LOVED the twists which I was not expecting!! What a bombshell!! I have read very few courtroom drama books so was intrigued to see how I would feel when reading this one and it most certainly did not disappoint!!! The way it is written with the before and after time lines along with the multiple POV's ensured I was completely immersed in the reading experience throughout. I just could not put this one down. Every time I tried I jist had to pick it up again for just one more chapter, OK maybe a few more until before I knew it I was closing the book and devastated to come to the end. This is one book that I will not forget anytime soon!!
Ellery never fails to deliver and this is a must read for any crime, drama and courtroom fans. If you want a fantastic and unputdownable read this one's for you!!!
Clear your schedules before taking a peek as Ellery will suck you in and keep you turning until the final page!!
It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.
The characters were all strong and realistic and I had mixed feelings on each of them. I was completely invested in each of them. It is so hard to say how I feel about them without giving too much away. I shall try my best though. I really liked Cassandra and my heart really went out to her. She put on a brave front and kept on fighting. I was not a fan of a certain character and the more I read the more I disliked them. I won't name names as I don't want to spoil anything or blue your perspective of them from the start but am sure you will feel the same. I love the plot of wife defending the husband and is one I have never read before. I hope I have portrayed my feelings of the characters sufficiently enough without spoiling anything for future readers.
A huge congratulations to Ellery on yet another fantastic novel!!! This is exactly why you are on my top crime author list!! Here's to your next success 🥂
Overall an action packed and suspense filled psychological drama thriller that will keep you on edge and guessing throughout and then ends on an absolute bombshell which you'd never suspect!!
Genres covered in this novel include Thriller, Mystery, Suspense, Fiction, Psychological Thriller, Psychological Fiction amongst others.
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Mark Edwards, Minka Kent Lucinda Berry Melinda Leigh, Lisa Regan, Kendra Elliot, Gone Girl, The Girl on the Train and The Housemaid.

Wow, stunning plotline and my second book of Ellery Kane that I have read. I was totally engrossed by this absolutely gripping psychological thriller story by Kane with lots of suspense in every chapter. The novel begins with Theo Copeland, a stay at home dad to his daughter Abby, a lead singer and guitarist and his corporate lawyer wife Cassandra being questioned by the San Francisco police at their home for a homicide committed in their own building they leased out on 865 church street. A homeless man discovers a dead body of a girl bludgeoned to death in the dumpster behind Theo's studio. Theo and Cassandra are left horrified with the incident. The detectives gather at the spot questioning the tenants. The girl who was murdered was Elise, the Hamilton's Nanny. Meanwhile, Theo Copeland gets arrested for assaulting his neighbor Shaun De Marco in his front yard, punching him in the face and destroying a drone he possessed. Theo is accused for having an affair with Elise Sterling and texting her from his phone before she was found dead. The detectives portray Theo to be a dangerous man even though he had no prior criminal record.
Will Cassandra Copeland as an attorney representing her husband Mr Theo for this murder case will be able to prove his innocence? I thoroughly enjoyed the court room scenes with Judge Macy and how Shaun the real murderer gets caught for the horrific act of murder.
I just reviewed the Psychological thriller novel, The Good Wife by Ellery Kane. Thanks to Bookouture Publishers and Netgalley for an advance copy for my honest review.
Man, I don’t know if I like Ellery Kane. Back and forth and back and forth. The Good Wife took me way longer to read than it should have. I just could not get into the story. The murder wasn’t much of a mystery. The twists weren’t really very twisty. I felt like I trudged through a lot of details about nothing until we got to the obvious conclusion. There weren’t even any likable characters for me to back in this one.
Cassie and Theo have the perfect family, the perfect life...
Cassie overworks, and Theo is a stay-at-home dad and ex-rock star.
The past is about to explode their happy family and the whodunit is anyone's guess.
A childhood friend makes her move on Theo, A neighbor who likes to follow everyone's moves, and a cheating husband might be the breaking point. Or is it when your husband is accused of a murder that breaks you?
Excellent thriller and I had no clue who did what till almost the end.
I love this author's stories!
Mexico, Margaritas, and Murder by Wendy Day is a good mystery beach book.
I liked that it featured senior characters and I also enjoy reading about one of the main character's new beginning in life after the death of her not so great husband.
While I like to get to know the characters well especially in the first book of a new series I have to admit it was a bit slow going as regards to the mystery itself.
Main protagonists really appealed to me, and I rooted for them, I especially admired their friendship and how supportive of each other they were.
That said I had to suspend belief on quite few occasions regarding the mystery and I though it was a bit silly at times.
This is a light and easy read for those without high expectations of accuracy but who read for pure enjoyment.
The Good Wife is a gripping and twisty thriller which had me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. As soon as I started reading this book I was completely gripped and pulled in by this story. The characters in this book can you trust them or not ? I for sure didn’t know who was telling the truth and who wasn’t . Another thing I loved about this book was as well as the domestic scenes we also had some legal drama which was really interesting and really increased my love of this book. I’ve not read this author before but I most certainly will read more .
I’m a big fan of thrillers by Kane and this book did not disappoint. When the main character finds out a local woman died, she must confront the rumors that her husband was having an affair with her. And decide if she thinks he is innocent of the murder he is accused of. She then has to defend in him court for the crimes he is accused. The book is full of twists and really brings up the question of how far will you go for someone you love?
I could not put this book down! It had me hooked from the moment I started reading it. A great telling of how one slightly obsessed nanny ends up dead from the perspectives of a former rock star and her former best friend, who happen to now be married. I twist at the end, although I figured it out, was fantastic and was a great way to tie up all the loose ends.
4.5/5 ⭐️s for sure!
