Feel the Bern by Andrew Shaffer is a witty and engaging political satire that cleverly blends humor with a sharp critique of contemporary politics. This book is a delightful read that will resonate with anyone who has followed the ups and downs of modern politics.
Bernie and his Gen Z intern go on some adventures. There's murder and maple syrup! How Vermont! This isn't the best thing in the world, but if you're also an American millennial that desperately wanted Bernie to win the presidency, this may be for you.
This cozy mystery was an entertaining romp that had me chuckling quite a few times. Both a love letter to Vermont and a romp with the lovable Bernie, the mystery itself wasn't anything remarkable. But, I didn't care. I was too busy enjoying the witty banter and amusing comments from Bernie. The story is full of political humor and quips. I enjoyed the journey and time spent in this world, and I would pick up other books where Bernie Sanders solves crimes!
Yes to everything that Shaffer does. I absolutely loved his Obama/Biden series. It felt like the perfect combo of camp/noir/humour, and Feel the Bern was no different. I thoroughly enjoy the creative and captivating adventures he spins with these familiar figures.
Thank you to NetGalley and to the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have only read a handful of cozy mysteries and I know they are formula based. With Easter-egg like mentions of Ben & Jerry's, Champ, maple syrup, Burlington, the mittens, flannel, Burlington free press, and Subarus this cozy kept me smitten.
There was even a cozy mystery from a LFL discovery mentioning in the book. The book pokes fun at the cozy mystery genre more than once.
I love the way the author captured the stereotypical personality of Bernie. I wanted to hang out with him!
This cozy mystery is like a balm for the soul of Bernie-nation. Have you ever wanted to hang out in Vermont with Bernie? I know I have. That is what this book feels like. It has humor, a fun murder mystery, and Vermont maple syrup. This book is not the most compelling mystery I have ever read. However, it is the best Bernie-centered cozy mystery I have ever read. If you have ever wanted to spend time tasting maple syrup with Bernie, this book it for you!
A funny mystery, sort if cozy, featuring Bernie Sanders. I had a lof of fun and enjoyed it

Many thanks to the publisher, all opinions are mine
This is not my normal genre of book to go for and I should have known going in to it this book would not be for me. If you’re in to cheesy mysteries with a democratic twist this book would be for you.
This was such a funny cozy mystery - not my typical genre, but I couldn’t pass up the Bernie Sanders mystery hook. The mystery itself was solid, with lots of red herrings and an ending that really brought everything together. This follows the traditional cozy mystery setup, with a small town, a lively cast of characters, and an amateur sleuth thrust into a mystery to save her town.
Some parts of this were extra cheesy, but overall this was a very well done cozy.
Bernie and his Gen Z intern go on some adventures. There's murder and maple syrup! How Vermont! This isn't the best thing in the world, but if you're also an American millennial that desperately wanted Bernie to win the presidency, this may be for you. I mean, it amused. For a time.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher.
This book was a fun, quick read that kept me engaged. I definitely could hear Bernie’s voice in my head for all of his parts. It gave a beauitful picture of Vermont. I was disappointed in the recipes, though. They seemed rushed but still worth trying out.
I would read another book in the series.
I have been a Bernie Sanders supporter for a long time now and this was such an absolutely fun story. I loved that Bernie had to solve a mystery in Vermont, the state he is from. I enjoyed this so much. I highly recommend!
I have read the other books by Andrew Shaffer (the Biden and Obama series). This one was enjoyable, but I do not know if I felt a disconnect because I am not as familiar with Bernie Sanders. I liked the story and it was comical, but I am not sure if the tone was correct for Sanders. I think that the right type of reader would enjoy this book, but I do not know if it would be for all.
I highlighted this book in a video on my Booktube channel. It can be found here: https://youtu.be/sWQfnvdy2XI
A Bernie Sanders mystery set in autumn? Count me in! First of all, the cover of this book is gorgeous and eye-catching. I also couldn’t resist the plot description. As a New Englander who grew up loving Nancy Drew, I was so excited to read this one. This ended up being the perfect cozy book for those cold winter days. It wasn’t the best book I ever read but certainly wasn’t the worst.
Feel the Bern by Andrew Shaffer ⭐️⭐️⭐️💫
This book ended up being a delightful surprise for me. I started and stopped it 3 times before I finally fully got into it. I had requested this from @netgalley not knowing what to expect, and it was a perfectly funny cozy mystery. A good blend of Bernie being a normal person and a caricature.
Solid, enjoyable read
This one made me laugh out loud! Super cute, good summer read! Highly recommend for a pool day. 4 stars.
This was a truly adorable cozy mystery. I’m glad I listened to the audiobook because the Bernie voice was spot on. I also loved the commentary about Vermont. I would definitely read another of these books.
Thank you Ten Speed Press for my gifted copy.
A cute little mystery that takes place in Vermont. As a reader who once lived in Vermont, and as a big Bernie fan, I enjoyed reading this very much. A bit silly, but that's the fun thing about cozies.
Great fun.
I love a narrator with a little snark, particularly in cozy mysteries. And on that front Crash Robertson delivers. She's a great character. So is Bernie Sanders. He actually save the day, twice.
