Unfortunately, I couldn't get into this book enough to give it a great review. I quickly realized that it wasn't what I expected when I requested the ARC and DNF'd it. This isn't an issue with the content or the author it's purely not what I was interested in. I find that if my expectations are set at one spot, I will not give a book a fair shake because expectations weigh heavily into my enjoyment of the book. This might be for many people, but it just wasn't for me at this time.

Although this is a lovely book, it by no means is a graphic novel. It does have lovely drawings in it though. I would say this is just a regular book with lovely, artful pictures in it. There is a lot to read if the child is used to the reading speed given by graphic novels. The story is really nice, the artist rhino is a sweet character. The alternate reality is a nice setting.

This was a really interesting story. Not quite a graphic novel but a book with art in it. At some points Rumpus was a little depressing for my tastes but other than that it was a really good book.
