It was an okay story. A lot of back and forth between the present and years back. It was hard to stay connected to the story. I didn't feel engaged between the characters.
American Queen by Sierra Simone is a deliciously scandalous and steamy romance novel that is sure to leave readers feeling breathless. The story follows Greer Galloway, a sharp-witted and politically savvy woman who finds herself serving at the pleasure of the President of the United States. As the granddaughter of a former vice president, Greer is no stranger to politics, but she is not so well-versed in romance. When she shares her first kiss with war hero and future president Maxen Ashley "Ash" Colchester, and her second with his best friend and future vice president Embry Moore, she finds herself caught up in a web of dangerous desires and buried secrets.
What follows is a captivating tale of love, lust, and politics that is sure to keep readers on the edge of their seats. Simone's writing is masterful, and her characters are complex and compelling. Greer, Ash, and Embry are all flawed in their own ways, but their love for each other is all-encompassing and utterly ruthless. The sex scenes in this novel are both steamy and beautifully written, and the political intrigue adds an extra layer of tension to an already gripping story.
Overall, American Queen is a must-read for fans of steamy romance novels. It is a beautifully written and captivating story that is sure to leave readers feeling satisfied and eager for more. Simone has created a truly unforgettable world filled with complex characters, dangerous desires, and all-encompassing love. Highly recommended.
This book is spicy, yes but I want a book that has spice and a good plot. I don't want a book that blinds me with spice. I love a book that can do both! This book is exactly that. I can enjoy the spice and the actual plot. This story has more than 1 twist and I'm all for it. I wasn't expecting any of those twist. I was in shock and needed to read more. I had to keep reading and the spice was such a sweet reward. I love when I can dissect a book and underneath such spice is actual good storyline and characters. This book left me wanting more!
I remember seeing people talking this book when it just got released and as time has gone by and my tbr got rather long I push the idea of finally reading Sierra Simone books a bit more and more.
I HIGHLY REGRETED TAKING SO LONG TO FINALLY READ IT.
Can we talk about those few first chapters? Not only they translated to 'complete fire and sexiness' but succesfully pulls the reader in for quite a ride.
Politics+Spice+Plot = perfection
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the e-arc in exchange of an honest review.
I've heard so much about this series and I finally see what all the hype was about. I don't want to give much away because it will spoil it but let me just say all the spice was amazing.
4/5 ⭐️
5/5 🌶
whew, it is steamy in here! 🥵 this was the perfect book after i just finished a veryyyyy slow burn. i needed spice and this definitely delivered. this book definitely had more spice than plot, but i can’t even complain because that was exactly what i needed. there was a little bit of plot woven in there and i enjoyed the cliffhanger enough that i will probably read the rest of the trio at some point. this is a poly romance, so please be aware of that before you read. absolutely no complaints from me though, i loved all of these characters and their love for each other was so special. perfection 🤌🏻🤌🏻
“i still feel like i want to melt into him, dissolve into nothing and everything at once.”
Whew! Is it hot in here? YES IT IS.
This book was a definite page turner and I wanted to yell at everyone who interrupted me. Super steamy and sweet at the same time.
Apparently politicians can be sexy.
And that ending‽‽ Dang. I must keep going!
Such a good book.
Top Tier spice!
This was my first Sierra Simone book and my oh my she knows how to write. Not only was the spice there but the plot kept me wanting more. I cant wait to dive into the next 2 books.
Trope - Love Triangle - Reverse Harem
I finished three books in less than three days. Every time I was going to leave the story a plot twist and with very magnetic characters, even when King Arthur is one of the stories I hate to read but know by heart, Sierra Simone made me obsessed and gave her four and five stars
.
In this book we meet Greer, the new and improved version of Guiniver. Raised by her grandfather, former vice president of the United States in a memorable administration, after the death of her parents. Greer grows up in this world of politics, aristocracy and constant lobbying where she moves like a fish in water
.
This is how she meets Maxen Colchester, a decorated soldier destined for great things, with whom she falls in love at first sight and whom she cannot forget through the years
.
unfortunately their paths do not cross again until years later, but once again there are great obstacles between them. And as she tries to keep her composure, she bumps into Embry Moore
.
With whom she shares her heart and her greatest pain. Believing that it was a new opportunity to love, and breaking her heart the day after
.
After suffering disappointment after disappointment, Greer surrenders to her career and lives a quiet life as profesor in college until one of the men who broke her heart appears in front of her again to ask her for an impossible favor
.
I'm not a big fan of love triangles or heartbreak, maybe that's why The Legend of King Arthur is not to my taste. But in this book, each twist and each sentence is so well achieved that it was impossible for me to stop reading book after book believing in a better ending for the women in this story and especially for the main characters and I was not disappointed one bit
.
This is my favorite version of this story just the right amount of smut and angst in an epic impossible love story, reversed into a polyamorous relationship with queer characters, very well written kinks
.
Thanks to Sierra Simone and Source books bloom for give me this beautiful book in exchange for my honest and voluntary opinion
Sierra Simone is one of my favourite writers, so it was a no brainier I needed to read this book and it’s poly!!!!!!! Also, the cliffhanger, I don’t know why I was surprised when I knew it was a trilogy.
This book was given to my by NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review.
I don’t want to include a lot of spoilers, which makes it difficult for me to tell you what I liked. What I will say is it is so spicy, that sometimes the plot seems to have dissolved, which made me think I wouldn’t read the rest of the series. Upon finishing, I can promise I will continue to read the whole series.
This book is politics, scandal, spice, and a whole lot more. There is a deep under current of guilt and shame our main characters all experience, and Greer experiences hers in the most simple way compared to the men.
What I will also say is Sierra Simone isn’t for the faint of heart, and truly isn’t for everyone. I would say. Read reviews, and truly know what you are getting into. This book can be dark, and explores “mature” concepts. I would say it’s mostly like 50 shades takes over a political thriller like a John Grisham book.
Holy moly…. That was a wild ride and I can’t keep my mouth closed. Who ever this author is is a freaking genius and I must read the next book. The plot was amazing and don’t get me started on the spicy scenes. If you haven’t read this already then I’m not sure what you’re waiting for.
I have been in such a weird book slump I didn’t know if I would be able to get back in the groove in order to review this book, but nope this book did it for me. I fell in love with the characters, which hasn’t happened in so long. This has to be one of the hottest romance, love triangle, and political book I’ve read ever.
I want more now. No no no… I NEED MORE
Honestly love this one, I love the story plus so much spice. I love these characters and they’re relationships…
Easily the spiciest book I've read all year so we must give props to that.
The beginning of this book was a five-star banger if I've ever read one. The intrigue in the beginning was INSAAAAANE. Like, Sierra Simone just drops you in the middle of all these established relationships and slowly gives you all the information. In that way, I really thought this was a job well done and I wish the book kept that high going, but toward the middle things get a little goofy. Ending went back to slapping though.
I realized halfway through the book however the steaminess completely overshadows the romance. The romance honestly to me wasn't that much and it is very love at first sight / insta love all around. but that's okay because I don't think that's what we're necessarily here for.
This book is bonkers insane and truly I think an Ice Planet Barbarians scenario is much more likely to happen than an American Queen scenario (the fact that the president won the vote running as a third party candidate is enough to put this book in the fantasy genre to me), so I encourage readers to suspend all their disbelief and just enjoy the show!!!
...that being said I kinda almost wish there WAS a similar story that was super grounded in reality because I think it would've made the forbidden elements of this romance that much more dramatic.
I loved Ash and Greer!! I love how savvy Greer is in navigating the political world and how she actively chose to not be a part of it until she had no other option. And Ash ya Ash hahahahahahaha iykyk. I enjoyed Embry too, but definitely feel like I know him the least, so I'm excited to get his POV in the next book.
Also, holy cliffhanger! Luckily I have book two ready to go.
American Queen is the first part of the “New Camelot Series” by Sierra Simone. After I was disappointed by the Priest Series, I loved this book and cannot wait to continue reading the series.
It is about Greer, Ash, and Embry and relationship the three have with each other. Perfect for everyone who loves a good spicy book. It ends on a cliffhanger and I am excited to continue with the story in the second part and see things from the guys’ perspectives!
Thanks to Sourcebooks Bloom Books and Netgalley for the eARC in return for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This isn’t my first MMF story but it’s now one of my favorites! I was late to the party with this series of books by Sierra Simone and was excited to see Bloom was picking them up. It felt very slow to start but once the story got going it was hard to put down!
Can’t wait to continue the story!
1.5/5
I'm a big fan of a royal romance. This one just wasn't for me.
I've never read a book by Sierra Simone, but a lot of people talk about how much they love her work, so l thought I'd give her a chance.
I enjoy spice in books as much as the next person, but in my opinion the spice got in the way of any kind of character/plot development. I found it hard to read.
Would I still recommend this book? Yes. I know there are many people out there who will enjoy this book in ways l didn't.
Thank you to Netgalley and SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books for an e-arc of this book!
This was my first MMF book and I absolutely fell in love. Geer is married to the vice president of the United States. But before she married the vice president she had one passionate kiss with his best friend years prior. I loved seeing the whole dynamic play out and I couldn’t wait to dive into book 2 and 3 when I finished! Super spicy and such a good story line
Thank you to NetGalley for an ARC of this book. I have had this book on my TBR for a while now and have been so excited to read this. This is myhonest review.
I dont know what it was but this cover is what drew me in. I didnt even take a look at the to see what it was about at first. But once I did it went right to my TBR and I am not disappointed I read it.
I just couldnt get enough of this plot. I love how it would to from the present to the past. At the end of each chapter I needed more. There is so much angst and confusion here but it all comes across as totally warranted, working within these characters' personalities, rather than forced to propel drama.
I highly recommend this read. I cannot wait to read the next two!
I have been hearing of this series for a long time on booktok so when I saw this on NetGalley I jumped at the chance to request it. I have to say that it definitely lived up to the hype and I'm excited to see how much further it can go with this publisher. Loved the concept and the execution.
