Family secrets, denials and lies. And then revenge.

Violet was molested by her grandfather when she was 7 years old. When she told her mother, her mother did not believe her and told her not to speak of it again.

When Violet gets married, she does not invite her grandparents to the wedding, but they come there anyway. Her grandfather has a reaction to shrimp that was in the food, and as a result has a heart attack, and dies in hospital under suspicious circumstances.

Other predators are stabbed and killed. Revenge is being taken on those that molest children.

I have heard much about Gregg Olsen's books, but this is the first that I have read. I like his writing very much. The subject line though, is triggering for many. The monsters all have human faces.

I was truly fascinated by the premise of this book and found myself immersed in it for two days. I loved the multiple POV’s from Rose and her daughters, Lily and Violet, but I found the timeline confusing. I feel like the big twist was revealed too early and it made the rest of the story predictable.

I Know Where You Live centers around Violet, who was molested by her grandfather when she was a little girl. When she worked up the courage to tell her mother, the woman who would protect her and be on her side, but she had completely done the opposite and told her that she shouldn’t share such ugly rumors about her family members.

Violet grew up feeling like a victim and no matter how many times she brought it up with her Mother, she would continue to deny it. Violet felt defeated and started to hate her Mother.

It’s Violet’s wedding day and she was promised that her Grandfather wouldn’t attend to respect her wishes but when he showed up, she’s filled with rage. When her Grandfather collapses and dies at her wedding, she feels like a weight has been lifted off her shoulders.

What if Violet could become a sex offender vigilante and bring peace to other victims? Would she be praised or would she find herself in prison?

Had her Grandfather hurt more children in the past? Did someone finally stop him? You’ll need to read the book and find out for yourself.

This was my first book by this particular author and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. Looking forward to reading more.

I am giving this bood 3.5 stars because while it was an interesting story, I do feel as though the writing and editing could have used some work. There was just a lot going on, and even though it was fictional, some of it was hard to believe.

Trigger warning - molestation & rape

Wow! This book was an intense read due to the nature of the plot. I Know Where You Live is about a family who is dealing with Violet's childhood confession that her Papa raped and molested her. Throughout the book it shows how each of the women in the family (Rose, Lily and Violet) were effected by this sickening event. Violet's mother, Rose, gaslights Violet and makes her question herself and her own memories. Then there is Lily, Violet's younger sister, who knows something is wrong with her sister growing up but had no idea why her sister was so angry. Papa suddenly gets ill at Violet's wedding, which he was not invited to. After Papa's death Violet finally finds a way to release her emotions and protect others from monsters like her Papa.

A massive novel. Brilliant story … Brilliant writing … Brilliant author. Award winning author Gregg Olsen never lets you down and has he raised the bar with this exceptional novel. Shocking secrets and shocking events have the Bradley clan battling life and relationships as they journey through one upheaval after another. The twists and turns in the novel are skilfully crafted and lead to a sensational finale. A powerful and intoxicating story that was difficult to put down and more than worthy of five stars.
