Great book that was such a good story. It was easy to follow and enjoy. I loved all the characters and how the story unfolded.
Having already experience van life myself, this was like I was reliving it again – which was wonderful!
Thank you NetGalley for my complimentary copy in return for my honest review.
Such a lovely coffee table book. Road Life shares the stories of 35 people who have made the choice to live full time on the road. The chapters are broken down by each person or family's reason for choosing road/van life. Some are doing it short term for travel and adventure, some are doing it long term while working. The most fun thing about this book was that it shared the experiences of people from all over the world, with many different reasons for starting their "road life" journey. An added bonus is the stunning photography - this is the perfect coffee table book for those with big dreams or wanderlust!
Excellent road life reference book, for anyone who travels in an RV, van or travel trailer. I found the tips very useful, all of which I never thought of before.
I imagine this will be a beautiful hard copy book. The pictures are amazing and the stories inspiring. Giving an insight into different versions of “vanlife” “life on the the road”. A nice coffee table book.
What this book is: a gorgeous photo book of Instagram-y inspiration and glowing copy about the glory of road life (almost all vans).
What this is not: a how-to guide. There are no design sketches, no helpful tips for the building process.
"Road Life" is divided into chapters about types of travelers- full timers, part timers, eco-aware travelers, budget travelers, adventurers, etc. Each chapter features several travel teams (a good amount of diversity) with a page or two of text about them, several pics of their vehicle in the wild, and a their answers to 3 specific questions- The advice they would give, their top 3 "must haves" and their favorite travel location. Their social media handles and specific make of vehicles are also included. There are also a few helpful lists included, such as "Staying Safe on the Road" and "Five Essential Cooking Utensils for Off-grid Cooking", etc.
If you want to be inspired, get this book. Just know that it's mostly pretty pictures.
My thanks to the author, publisher, and #NetGalley for the chance to read an arc of this book.

I've learned over the last 5-7 years that I like "road life," tiny-house or camper-van living, etc., like I like kids and dogs--I prefer other people's. Let me read the stories (or have dessert with the kids, or pet the dog) and go back to my (larger :D) space, thank you very much. I like the space, routine, creature comforts. There, I said it.
So this was an interesting read on a few levels:
a) It was just that, a read. I have no intention of building a remote/mobile life. :D I contemplated and attempted building some remote work (aside from my 9-5) pre-pandemic and realized it wasn't for me--and then the pandemic hit and my 9-5 job became remote without any extra effort on my part. YAY. (Although #sad, pandemic.)
b) It was beautifully produced. The pictures are inspiring (and I have to remind myself of lesson A, above, on the regular; the idea is nice, the reality is not for me), and the tips/suggestions for both starting #remotelife, whatever that looks like (full-time, part-time, weekend only, etc.) and where to travel were helpful kickstarters.
c) The book's author (curator, really) and I hold wildly different life viewpoints, and that was clearly seen here in his selections and features. Naturally, we'll all relate to certain things more than others--but there was some commentary and lifestyles that diverged wildly from what I expected/was looking for in the read. It is what it is; if that's what you're looking for, this'll be the book for you, but if not, FYI now.
I liked the locale recommendations the most out of the read, noting places I'd been and seeing where might be of interest based on those I liked.
I received an eARC of the book from the publisher via NetGalley. All opinions are my own.
It made me wish I could become a digital nomad. It's a basic and informative guide to live on the road.
Lovely pictures and some good advice.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
Thanks to Net Gallery for the Book.
This book is 100% Ideal for Anyone who Lives for the Dream of Life on the Road Away from the Skulduggery of Town & or City Life.
Road Life: An inspirational guide to living and travelling on four wheels is a coffee table book for those wanting to jump into the lifestyle or anyone with a general interest. It is case studies on peoples lives rather that an instructional or self help guide.. You won't find help for a particular area or problem but you might come away with some great ideas. The photographs are beautiful and it is a joy to see all the different ways people are living on the road. This would make a lovely gift book.
This is a book with a lovely layout, but it was not quite what I believed it to be from the description and cover. This book is very much a series of memoirs with the occasional tidbit of helpful advice or guidance, as opposed to a book on the intricacies of the lifestyle. I recognize that this is a 'different for everyone' sort of experience, but I couldn't help but feel any advice in the sampling was all about once the resources were had too. The whole thing is very pretty, and seems well put together, but because of the marketing I feel I was just given some social media plugs to elaborate on the brief memoirs.
