Taking place in suburbia Ireland, we meet three very different, and unlikeable couples in Dirty Laundry. This book reads like an episode from Bravo's The Real Housewives. The story is told from each of the women's POV's. Ciara, the widely followed and quite brash blogger, Mishti, the pushover friend, and Lauren who is ousted from the group for unknown reasons.
I felt like this book was a bunch of fluff full of foe-friends and characters who bullied each other amongst other appalling things. However, you will be surprised at the twisty-murderous-domestic twists that happen.

I received an e-ARC of this upcoming debut novel through NetGalley.

This is a reasonably entertaining soap opera in book form, taking place in a suburban neighborhood in Ireland. The soap opera centers on three couples, two of which are married couples, the other unmarried but with three children. Early on, the reader learns that one of the three women, sort of the Queen Bee in the neighborhood, is found dead in her home. The author then backtracks to create the build-up to the day the woman died. Was she murdered? If so, by who? Why?

None of the six main characters are likeable. Lots of marital infidelity, jealousy, selfishness, backstabbing. So there is nobody to root for. Almost any one of the other five characters had at least some reason to want to wipe out the woman who was killed.

Without spoiling anything, I wasn't very satisfied with how the book concluded. High marks for keeping my interest level high throughout.

This was a book about a group of unlikeable couples who are self absorbed yet very realistic. The plot was interesting and I enjoyed the twist that was provided. The book did drag a bit for me but I did find it to be a good twisty read overall.

If you like domestic thrillers, murder mysteries and anything Irish, Dirty Laundry is for you!

Intense domestic thriller. A twisty story about a small group of mothers living in a village in Ireland. A seemingly quiet neighborhood is inhabited by young families, but behind every door lies at least one secret. Behind false kindness, you can find hostility, envy, adultery, and much more. All of common human nature congregated in one place.

Oh wow! You wicked little vixen! Ciara, known as the Queen Bee of the Internet, is beautiful and she has it all... a successful husband Gerry, a gorgeous estate, and children. Being a sensation has kept her busy with her mothering style, and influencing other mothers to have the perfect life. With her pretend life online, take a closer look at her self absorbed life and you will not see perfection.

Ciara's neighborhood friends do not stand a chance at matching her. Mishti, also a mother, is her best friend and wants everything Ciara has. Her husband, Parth, is a psychiatrist and very successful, but she is still not content because her marriage was arranged for her.
Then there is Lauren, a typical mom with children and a husband, Sean. She appears as the butt of jokes in the village with her dysfunctional actions, her mothering style because her children are chaotic, but happy with their situation. But even she pines for Ciara's life. The fun ignites when Mishti and Lauren unite in their endeavors.
In this intense domestic thriller, you may not like any of the characters and will not be surprised when Ciara ends up dead in her home. The mystery behind it all is fun to unravel and you would love to say "I told you so." Greed, envy and self-absorption leads you down the city of Cork that will have you turn your head from this over confident woman in love with her power.

"SECRETS, DESIRES, BLOOD . . . It all comes out in the wash."

Thank you NetGalley and Penguin Random House for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

A storyline with characters you see in your Instagram lives and you will either hate them, envy them or feel sorry for the character.
The story moves along at a good pace. It did for me get long in parts but overall a good plot.

Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced reader's copy of this publication.

The lives of three women in a village in Ireland become entwined even though they all have very different backgrounds. Ciara is the poster child of the successful Instagram mommy; perfect husband, perfect house, perfect children, perfect style. All that perfection comes with a cost however; behind closed doors, Ciara is unable to control her children, is turning to pills and alcohol and other women's husbands to make herself feel like a real person. Dowdy Lauren lives just the other side of the garden from perfect Ciara and her life and family are anything but perfection. Always the outcast in the village since she was a child, Lauren wants to be accepted but hasn't a clue as to how to go about achieving that goal. With three kids and a live-in boyfriend of ten years, Lauren is desperate to have some control in her life. Mishti, a bride from Calcutta struggles to understand her arranged marriage with her critical husband, who controls every minute of her life. Ciara is dangerous and can destroy the lives of the other families, wielding her popularity like a sword. But those who live by the sword also die by it.....but by who's hand?

Fun read. Some characters you love to hate - others remind the readers of themselves. Good twists and turns in this suburban whodunit. Would make a great film or limited tv series. Enjoy!

Oh my gosh!!! These people! If you like The Real Housewives of anywhere, you should like this book! I do not, but the few times I have caught them, I get wrapped up for a little while. Much like this book. A group of three frenemies and their husbands and OH, the drama! Everyone has skeletons, secrets and infedelities. In the middle of all that, someone turns up dead. The story is told from the three female perspectives. None of the characters are likeable and I was just rolling my eyes in the beginning but much like the Housewives series' and the ol' proverbial trainwreck, I found myself unable to look away. Glad I didn't. While not a work of great literature, this is a fun read and good debut. I also found the arranged marriage of one of the characters an interesting aspect. I would definitely read more from this author.

Thank you to #NetGalley, Disha Bose and Random House Publishing group-Ballantine Books for this ARC. All opinions are my own..

One of the best Debut mysteries I’ve read in a long time. Quick paced and twisty. I loved it! I’d love to read more from this author.

Thank you to Penguin Randomhouse and Net Galley for the opportunity to read this novel. I suppose I'd call it women's fiction. It's a character-driven story that revolves around three couples in a small Irish village who don't have a lot in common, and who don't like each other very much.
The story is told from multiple viewpoints:
Ciara Dunphy is a narcissistic Instagram influencer, worshipped by most of the women in the village as someone who has it all. Her husband, Gerry, seems to be the silent partner who just signs the checks and doesn't realize his wife is having affairs behind his back.
Mishti and Parth Guha are immigrants from Calcutta, and Ciara has taken Mishti under her wing as her best friend. She also has an eye on Parth, a doctor and a great catch for an arranged marriage, but not Mishti's first choice.
Lauren and Sean live next door, and the women immediately get off on the wrong foot. Although Lauren has lived in the village all her life, she has never belonged, whereas Ciara inserted herself into the in-crowd straight away. Although Lauren and Sean have three children, they never married, and Sean likes it that way since he has never made an effort to be faithful.
The characters are well drawn, but none are very likable. Not much happens, and there are times when the plot is confusing because it jumps around a bit in time.
I can't say the ending is satisfying, but in a way, it's inevitable.

This book was intense!! The characters aren’t terribly likable, but in a good way! Pretty solid drama, like an adult version of Mean Girls!

I could not get interested in this book. All of the women are unlikeable, terrible gossips and such back-stabbing friends. There was just too much drama and no story plot for me.
This book just did not come together for me, and I skimmed over some of the pages.

The author's writing style was easy to read and follow. I understand this is a debut for her so hopefully as she progresses in her career her stories will have more substance.

Wow, y’all. This book really threw me for a loop. I couldn’t believe how much of a thrill this story was and the suspense was amazing!! Must read.

I wish to thank NetGalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine Books for allowing me to read an advanced copy of this book. I have voluntarily read and reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When offered this book I felt it would be an exciting story but I must say it did not live up to the hype. Set in a small town, the families intertwine and none of them are especially likeable. With friends like these who needs enemies? It was a slow read for me and I never really engaged with the characters or cared about any of them. I skimmed through a lot of it. I would definitely not call this a romance novel since it is full of unhappiness, betrayal and lots of meanness. Not an uplifting book at all. By the time I got to the end I simply did not care.

I received a free copy from NetGalley. Easy to dislike all three couples which makes it harder to care who is dead and who is to blame. Was interesting to peak into another country for the setting.

I fell behind on reviews. Date is made up.

When Ciara, an Instagram influencer is found murdered in her home, everyone seems to have been in a position to gain from her death. Told from the viewpoint of three different characters, this novel has unexpected twists and turns that will keep the reader engaged and guessing what will happen next!

Thank you Netgalley and Random House Publishing Group - Ballantine, Ballantine Books for the ARC!

This was a good book with unexpected twists and turns! I couldn’t put it down.

The story takes place in a small village in Ireland. Ciara is the perfect Instagram influencer and she wears her crown proudly among their social circle. She rules it. Her best friend is Mishti, a meek Indian woman who is more of a sounding board for Ciara than anything. Lauren is the next door neighbor who has lived in the village her whole life and been ridiculed by the girls. As an adult she still encounters this but wraps her life around her family.

When Ciara winds up dead, you will think someone else did it. I loved that part because I couldn’t have guessed. Good book!

Thank you to NetGalley and Ballantine Books for an e-ARC of Dirty Laundry, available everywhere this coming April.

With the exception of one chapter, Dirty Laundry is told from the perspective of three women: Ciara Dunphy, Mishti Guha, and Lauren Doyle. Marketed as a twisty, domestic suspense novel about a suburban clique of mothers, I didn't think it brought anything new to the table. I'm all for unlikeable characters but with the exception of Mishti, it was difficult to read about women who kept rehashing the same dramas.
