Dirty Laundry by Disha Bose has it all.
The female rivals and drama, multicultural marriage, fabulous storyline, clandestine meetings and a dramatic ending.
This is a hard to put down book! I can’t wait to read more from Disha Bose!
It would not surprise me to see this book made into a tv drama series. It’s just that good.
Dirty Laundry is a page turner. No spoilers, but there is a lot of dirty laundry to air here! I was so interested and invested in all of the characters. The ending of the story is the only part that was a bit of a let down for me. It just felt a little unsatisfying. I was so into these characters, and I spent the whole book trying to "figure out the mystery". But overall, I did enjoy it, and I will definitely read whatever Bose writes next!
Thank you to #netgalley for the advance reading copy! #penguinRandomHouse
This book should be titled People Behaving Badly because all of them do! Revolving around three couples, Ciara and Gerry, Mishti and Parth, Lauren and Sean, the novel reveals the "friendships" they have or at least pretend to have even though all of us would be wise to avoid any of them! Ciara is a blogger who has amassed hundreds of followers so she feels the power. Mishta is an Indian woman who is Ciara's best friend but is easily taken advantage of. Lauren is a neighbor who is shunned even though she has children who are the same ages as the other two women's. And don't get me started on the husbands! Bose addresses many relevant issues: social media concerns, infidelity, obsessions, parenting styles, and of course friendships (fake or otherwise). Lots of dirty laundry aired here so be wary but enjoy!
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC!
What a great debut novel! Disha Bose is a force to be reckoned with! This was totally capturing., fresh and innovative. I personally think the blurb gives too much away. Lots of great characters that kept me invested in the story.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book
Boy this was a fun read. Definitely an adult version of Mean Girls. Ciara and her clique rule the neighborhood and sets the rules just like the did in school. Lauren is their favorite one to pick on an ostracize. Lauren has grown up but Ciara has not. But adult bullying destroys families and lives. And in this case Ciara has to pay with hers. This book is the story about how all this come to a shattering end. A very entertaining read with a thriller twist.
Life is not as it seems in this quiet Irish village when a woman is found murdered. How could this happen to this young mother revered by her fans?
Ciara brings gossip and style to her many followers on Instagram. The clique wants to model themselves after this picture-perfect mom. She has a committed husband and two well-behaved children and is a successful influencer. Mishti, Ciara’s best friend and confidante, stands by her friend until exchanges on her site become heated. And the outcast, Lauren, challenges Ciara, discovering some ugly truths.
I enjoyed Disha Bose’s portrayal of three diverse women’s lives set in a small village in Ireland. Each has an interesting backstory and viewpoint. Bose’s revelation of Ciara and her shocking death makes Dirty Laundry an unforgettable story.
I have to admit to being disappointed, once again I believed the blurbs, and they need to be fine tuned to the truth of the story. It is not a thriller, or even a good suspense novel, that is what I expected. However, what this story is, are three main characters, Ciara, the pretty influencer, Mishti, the Indian who is in a miserable marriage, and whacko Lauren, the small town hippie, who doesn't fit in, and never has. I didn't like any of them, I didn't care that they were miserable in their marriage, or couldn't handle their children, I had no respect for any of the people in the story. I don't understand this trend in letting people get away with murder? It's okay because the person isn't nice? Then as far as I am concerned, none of them are "nice." I expect that people who watch Desperate Housewives will love this sort of thing, my observation is they didn't have enough to do, or they wouldn't have the time to feel sorry for themselves!

I really liked this book. It wasn’t what I expected, it enthralled me. There is a death and a mystery that is solved, but this book is about women and their relationships with each other. While the men orbit their wives’ world they are integral to the motivations, thoughts, and relationships the women have with each other. Though, I’ve never been so happy at a character’s demise as I was in this one. While most characters were complicated but likable, one main character had zero qualities that would endear her to the reader. I love that she got hers.
Absolutely fantastic plot! Could not put the book down once I began reading it. Cannot wait for it to be released. Will recommend it to everyone I know!
Dirty Laundry by Disha Bose was like a small village version of Real Housewives. Ciara Dunphy is the popular Instagram mommy who presents a life more perfect than it is. Mishti Guha is in an uneven and unsatisfying marriage and has been chosen by Ciara as her best friend. Lauren Doyle is the outcast of the village, having been born there and never accepted, living with the father of her children who has always had a wandering eye. She is also Ciara's enemy.
A drunken night and an Instagram post add more flame to Ciara and Lauren's feud, while making Mishti question her life in Ireland and her marriage even more.

This was a perfect airplane read as it didn't require a lot of brain power but also wasn't totally vapid either. At the center of the story is Ciara, the local mommy influencer who seemingly has it all. The other characters all have complicated relationships both with Ciara and each other, and after she is found dead, the book backtracks to fill in some of those details. Disha Bose does a great job of providing multiple motives so that just when you think you might know what happened, something else equally plausible appears. When so many books like this are predictable, Bose doesn't give it all away so easily.
Dirty Laundry is a novel about local drama in a small village in Ireland. Ciara is a popular mommy influencer in the town who taunts Lauren and is best friends with Mishti. Throughout the course of the novel, we learn about each of the women's lives-- their insecurities, their strengths, and their relationships with their husbands. From the start, I was drawn in and interested in the characters and their storylines. The plot was interesting but, as a lover of suspense, I felt the twists weren't as unexpected or exciting as I had hoped. Overall, I enjoyed reading the book and would suggest it for people who like the genre.
I’m quite disappointed with this book. Nearly the first 40-50% of the book was fluff that could’ve been trimmed or cut all together. I found myself quite bored. Once the story did finally pick up, it was completely rushed and crammed into the last 15% of the book which is disappointing; with no true resolution. I wouldn’t recommend this book.
Wow! This book was amazing. I don't know which character was the worst- Ciara, Lauren, or Mishti. The sign of a great author is when you feel like you're right in the story. This is how I felt with Dirty Laundry.
Ciara, the influencer was a piece of work. Everything was about looking good for social media. I actually felt sorry for her husband and kids. I initally felt bad for Lauren, but I soon realized she brought alot of trouble on herself. Her relationship with Sean was horrible. Mishti was the most sympathetic. I just wanted her to get a backbone and stand up for herself.
I like the way this story was told started with the ending and working backwards. I couldn't stop reading this book!
I couldn’t put this book down! I’m so glad I found this one. It was an excellent addition to my summer mystery reading.
The plot was current and culturally relevant. A mom and wife who has the “perfect” life, at least according to her Instagram account, is the center of this story. Her circle of mom friends and neighbors in the small Irish village have small and large interactions with a variety of repercussions. I thought Bose did a great job exploring the dynamics between couples who are friends and neighbors; couples who are married and those who are not; and groups of mom friends who interact frequently on social media. It read so true to life. This could happen down the street from me here in America.
I liked that there are diverse characters, but not for diversity’s sake. Mishti and Lauren were interesting characters in their own right and I liked getting glimpses of their stories as they intersected with Ciara. I also felt like I was in that small, isolated village in Ireland while I was reading this book.
Highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys mysteries and thrillers! Fresh, dark, suspenseful. How Bose brings it all full circle is excellent!

Dirty Laundry by Disha Bose was a really great book with some unexpected twists and turns.
A great debut by Bose. A story of love, lies and deceit.
A cast of characters who I enjoyed getting to know and who were well-defined. They definitely made this book fun and exciting.
I loved the writing style and look forward to reading more from this author in the future.
