A great thriller - I would recommend it!
This book had a good premise, but that's where the good features ended. The characters were unbelievable, Cass was the worst - absolutely insufferable, and the plot was nonexistent. The writing style was overly emotive and unnecessarily dramatic and I found that it took away from the story. Sometimes the ending helps wrap up a book better, but this ending didn't make any sense given who Cass was throughout the book and it was a very unsatisfying end.
The first thing I will say is that in the audiobook version, the narrator who did the voice of Cass was so robotic! The other two narrators were great though.
Moving on. The beginning hooked me right away, but a lot of points of the story just didn't work for me. The main character focused on things that I just wouldn't focus on, and made decisions that people just wouldn't make. I thought the ending was predictable, although the reason for the ending was a surprise, but not a super shocking one.
Overall I'd say it was an entertaining way to pass the time, but I felt some improvements could have been made to the plot.
This was suspenseful and I didn't expect some of the twists. It was a fast-paced read. I had sympathy for Cass at first.
This was a great book. I loved every paragraph, every sentence and every word of this masterpiece! I read it in 12 hours, which is a lot for me to do! It had everything and more laid out in the novel! I sure hope There is more to come from this author! I am totally hooked!
Cass is being pursued by a relentless pursuer.
Her life seems perfect: a thriving career, two wonderful children, and a charming husband. However, when Cass receives an email from her husband's lover, Emma, the illusion of her ideal life begins to shatter. This email triggers a series of events that unearths long-buried secrets, setting the stage for a cascade of terrifying consequences.
What initially starts as a taunting email soon escalates into harassment and takes a much darker turn. As Cass and Ethan attempt to move forward, Emma suddenly vanishes. However, the narrative takes an unexpected twist, and Cass, once a victim, now finds herself at the heart of a troubling investigation, with suspicions circling around her.
While the book had its moments of entertainment, I eventually grew weary of the continuous drama. The so-called "shocking" plot twists were rather predictable, which left me somewhat unsatisfied. Nonetheless, if you're looking for a light, engaging read that can suspend your disbelief, this might be the one for you.

I was lucky to receive an advance copy of We're All Lying by Marie Still from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinions. WOW! This book is absolutely fantastic and will grab you on page one and keep you reading way past your bedtime. You will be taken along for a ride of your life! Do yourself a big favor and read this ASAP!
We're All Lying is Marie Still's debut novel and does not read like a debut! When ad-agency executive Cass discovers her husband Ethan has had an affair she sets out on a path of destructive behavior. Emma, Ethan's mistress, sends Cass emails and texts, and her threats and behavior continue to escalate. Cass, an unreliable narrator, has more to hide as does Ethan and Emma. When Emma disappears, Ethan and Cass are front and center in the investigation. Told through the past and present the tension, drama and lies continue to build while the reader has to decide what is real and what are lies. Some great twists and turns are revealed and while the epilogue felt a little rushed this is an exciting debut. I'm officially a Marie Still fan!

The husband + the wife + the mistress who blows up their lives. Bring it. I can always get down with some messy domestic suspense and was all on board for this debut thriller.
When the book opens, the police come to see Cass & Ethan, our married couple at the center of the story. It seems that Ethan's mistress, Emma, has gone missing and the cops have questions. We go back in time to the day Cass learns of the affair and watch as everyone's world implodes.
I am always game for some arguably unlikable characters doing all the unlikeable things, but this book didn't wholly hit the mark for me. I am happy to root for the antagonist and prefer my characters messy, but I also need to find something in them to root for. For me, Cass's choices made it hard for me to get behind her on her quest for revenge. The ending was a bit crazy town for me and I don't love a villain speech explaining it all. The book started with some solid potential, but perhaps one wild twist too many.
I will say the characters live up to the title - there's a whole lot of lying and secrets happening in this book. I think if you're new to the genre this could certainly hit the mark, but I did figure out the core mystery pretty early on. There will still some surprises along the way and it was quick read.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC.
Marie Still has a blockbuster with We Are All Lying! Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the pleasure of early access. There were so many layers to the characters...and I love that. I found myself going back to reread sections so I wouldn't miss any clues...and that's new for me. I'm usually able to figure out who did what and at least some of the twists in advance. I don't like to give clues to other readers..what's the fun in that? Let everyone have their own adventure and discovery...that's the joy of reading! I will say that I knew one character in particular felt shifty. I knew they had an agenda and it was a wow moment. I never guessed that twist, but looking back I should have considered that as a possibility. I read for pleasure and then live share my joy of reading by recommending titles and authors to others! This is 5 stars from me. I'm looking forward to My Darlings in 2024. Marie also writes as Kristen Seeley and Beverly Bonnefinche is Dead in September 2023. Happy reading! π
I really thought I would like this better than I did. Iβm bummed. None of the characters were likeable. I also wanted more from the story.
We're All Lying is definitely an interesting read - and to be honest it's been a while and I am still not sure what I read. It was full of a lot of fun and crazy characters. The twists were definitely unexpected, so I was hooked on the story... but that being said I'm still not entirely sure.

Ooo this was one absolutely sensational yummy treat for a psychological thriller with cat & mouse vibes! From the first chapter, it starts off with a bang and my goodness it doesn't stop chapter after chapter. Each moment goes from one to the next with constant booms and mind twists that leave you shocked and speechless. I was chomping on my nachos while reading this like it was my last meal because this plot sucked me in so hard! I was rooting hard for Cass and even after some major mind bombs, I still wanted her to prevail. Be ready for one twisted ride that will have you saying "BEG YOUR PARDON?!" a good dozen times throughout. You'll be left absolutely jaw-dropped with some of the revelations as Still sucker punches you as the conclusion creeps closer. Because the truth sets you free... right?
Cass has it all with her work and family feeling powerful and unbreakable, until an email threatens it all with her husband's mistress email, pictures included. However, it doesn't stop at just an email, it ratchets up as Emma increases tactics and makes it known to Cass, she's not just his mistress but wants to be his wife. And she's is in her way. Cass has far too much to lose, buried past & present to allow this to happen. And when Emma goes missing, the heat is turned up.

Weβre All Lying lives up to its title. Everyone has secrets. I had a feeling about the big reveal and was mostly right. Cass was hard to root for because I wanted her to leave Ethan so many times. Why would she want to fight over him? I didn't quite get Emma either. I wish there was a little more backstory on her choices. I didn't ultimately like the ending though because it wrapped up too perfectly. If you're looking for a domestic thriller with unreliable narrators, dual POVs dealing with revenge, jealousy and childhood trauma, this would be a good choice.
I'm still wondering what the heck I just read but I do know that I loved every word of it! This was such a fun book, full of crazy characters and more twists and turns that a pretzel! This entire book kept me glued! Thank you so much!
This one is perfect for any fans of thrillers like "Gone Girl" or "The Woman in the Window." It's a twisty ride, true to it's title!
Cass is the successful partner at a marketing firm. She seems to have everything: a career she loves, ride-or-die best friend, loving husband, nice house, kids...but when she finds out her husband has been having an affair with one of her employees and that employee starts to stalk and harass her, everything crumbles and she learns how superficially propped a lot of these things were.
Marie Still is a master at unreliable narration! She takes you on twists and turns and will keep you guessing until the very end.
This story sounded intriguing from the start and I couldnβt wait to dive in. While it started off that way, I found myself losing interest halfway through. The drama was a bit much and I couldnβt find the characters likable enough. I like to be honest and while it wasnβt for me, Iβm sure someone else will love it and find it right up their alley. I encourage everyone to give it a shot because it may be your favorite read.
This was a fast-paced and entertaining domestic thriller that will give you your drama fill (if that's your cup of tea). It started out pretty strong and I was excited to finally read about a character who wasn't going to idly sit back while her marriage imploded. However, that was quickly short-lived as Cass' character pretty much imploded herself. Expectations adjusted, it was still a fun read, albeit a bit over the top and predictable.
The biggest liar of them all though? The blurb of the book.

This book didn't suck me in the way I anticipated that it would. I enjoyed it enough but wasn't rushing to pick up the book.
This is another recent thriller that I'm teetering between 3 and 4 stars..I went with 3 stars because I felt the first half of the book was TOO fast paced (which is rare for me) and just felt a bit convoluted. There were several POVs which I typically like, but narration felt a bit stilted. I actually really liked the narrator but certain POVs just felt unnatural at times. One of the POVs that is thrown in really gave away the major twist for me because her POV just didn't really make sense to be there unless she was a major player down the line. I felt that the narrator should have included her a little less in the beginning and more down the line so it wasn't so easily foreshadowed. I thought the game of cat & mouse between the 3 key players were interesting but a bit confusing as well. This did keep me entertained for the most part. I thought the ending was a tad predictable but overall pretty good. Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
