We're All Lying - Marie Still
All it took was one e-mail to send Cass's world crashing and burning to the ground. When her husband's mistress Emma e-mails her, she never could have guessed how the whole situation could have escalated. The emails persist and take a terrifying turn, and before long the police are involved.
When Emma disappears, the investigation takes a quick turn as they look into both Cass and her husband, uncovering their secrets as they go.
Everything Cass has worked to build is suddenly crumbling, and she doesn't know how to fix it. While she hasn't been completely innocent, all the evidence points towards her. Who set her up to take the fall? Who is so determined to ruin her life?
This book. Wow. I have no doubt that it will be a best seller. I couldn't have predicted the turn of events if I had tried. I powered through this in a day having to know everything. Cass was a character who you wanted to throttle one second, and the next you just wanted to hug her and tell her everything would be okay. If you're looking for a psychological thriller that will mess with your head, this one is it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐/5.
Thank you so much Netgalley for the amazing ARC! This one comes out March 14th, 2023. Make sure you mark it in those calendars!

Review
This book shifts between three different POVs, Cass, Ethan, and Cass’ assistant, Alice.
Cass’ perspective starts our very relatable. She’s distraught by Ethan’s betrayal and it’s easy to feel empathetic towards her. She’s embarrassed and feels like her marital strife is now the office gossip. Given the evidence, and the interactions that follow with Ethan, I’m disappointed that Cass wasn’t a little more strong willed when it came to him. Cass is painted as a strong businesswoman who takes charge and gets shit done. But in her marriage, she seemed to crumble just seeing Ethan’s smile / eyes / anything. The disconnect made her character a little less believable as time went on.
Ethan’s POV only serves to make him seem like more of a dirt ball each time. He confesses (internally) to various other misdeeds, and while trying to get Cass back, he also continues to lead on Emma (although maybe just to appease her?). I’d say in a book called “All of us are Lying”, he certainly plays the part.
Alice’s POV is the one you wouldn’t expect. She is Cass’ assistant and an absolute jealous nutcase. Alice appears to Cass as a dutiful assistant but Alice is only so good at her job because she is always watching. Always.
I almost feel like there would’ve been something to have been gained by either including Emma’s perspective, or perhaps replacing Alice’s perspective with Emma’s. I feel like that could have made the ending a bit less predictable and some of the drama a little more scandalous. I think something like this could’ve broken up a little of the monotonous repetition that the book settles into later.
Things started off strong but the big twist is definitely on the predictable side, the final scene feels rushed, and all the ends tie up a little too neatly, but overall a solid read.
(Thank you to Rising Action Publishing Co, Marie Still, and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my review. This book is slated to be published March 14, 2023.)

Thank you to Net Galley for this advanced copy. I really enjoyed this book. It was twisty and unpredictable which is hard to do these days! The story was written in the perspective of Cass, Ethan and Alice. As the title suggest, all three have secrets. It was interesting to watch as the story unfolded. The majority of the book was written in Cass' perspective. Occasionally we would hear from Ethan and Alice. This change in perspective was a useful tool for the author to move the story along. I will definitely recommend this novel. I would give it 4.5 starts if I could but will do a 4 as it's not quite a 5.

Cass seems to be living the perfect life with her husband and two kids. Until one day she gets an email from her husband mistress Emma.
When Emma disappears Cass becomes the main suspect.

One day Cass was living her mostly perfect life, in her mostly perfect marriage, with her mostly perfect family when an e-mail came across her computer destroying her mostly perfect world. Cass prided herself as a prominent local business owner. With this devastating news about her husbands infidelity Cass’s world began to crumble. Her reputation was at stake.
I requested this book on Netgalley based on the cover and prologue. The premise seemed promising. Maybe I’ve read one too many domestic thrillers because this one was mediocre.
This was heavy on the word count although nothing a little skim reading couldn’t fix. I did enjoy the dark comedic humor. The cast of characters were great. I had fun reading about Julie and Alice. Alice a devoted and dedicated worker taking a personal interest in Cass’s success to the next level was ingenious. Julie the best friend and partner her anchor and support system. Then there’s Ethan, the unfaithful husband who created this messy situation. He was the catalyst to for this entire set of circumstances. Let’s not forget Emma, the mistress who becomes unhinged by the betrayal of her lover.
The fun was in uncovering true motive for these chameleons. Cass, the mother, the wife, the friend, and the business partner who fell apart by her husbands unfaithfulness. Her instability of becoming like her mother was too easy especially for a woman who had controlling issues.
There are many liars at play. Deciphering who the liars were and what they were lying about was exciting.
We’re All Lying is Marie Still’s debut novel under this name. She’s writes suspenseful women’s fiction under Kristen Seeley with Beverly Bonnefinche. Domestic thrillers is not an original concept, yet Marie Still made it her own. There were a few surprise twists, yet I somehow knew the twists. The loose ends weren’t really a surprise. I picked up on the clues along the way. I was more surprised by the inadequate police procedure to solve the case. All in all it had some humorous moments.

Thank you NetGalley and Rising Action Publishing Co. for the copy of We’re All Lying. The premise of this book sounded interesting and it started out great. I’m not sure when it started to go downhill, but after the slide into the ridiculous started, the story never recovered. It was disappointing that Cass showed zero positive traits so there was no reason to be on her side because she was so unsympathetic, and blaming her bad childhood was a cop out and a disservice to people who do overcome difficult upbringings. If you like a neat ending tied up in a bow you will love this one, but it was too ‘perfect’ for me. 2.5 stars rounded up to 3 because I enjoyed the first 50% or so of the book and it showed promise for a debut.

This was awesome! The storyline was not just another simple stop and go read. This had shock, excitement, and all the other emotions. Character development was phenomenal and everything flowed and meshed so well. I couldn’t stop reading, I was on the edge of my seat. At points, not wanting to turn the page because I knew id be closer to the end. But also wanting to because I had to know what happened next.

Wowowowowowowowowow!
I just got a new favorite author!
Do not miss this debut if you love domestic psychological thrillers!

What a wild ride. Everyone in this book has secrets. Everyone is lying and when the truth comes out buckle your seatbelts! I love domestic thrillers and I enjoyed this one. The twists at the end I didn’t see coming for the most part, but the ending I didn’t like. It was wrapped up too perfectly for what was revealed earlier.
Cass lives a seemingly perfect life with her husband and two kids. Her world comes crumbling down after she receives an email from Emma, who is having an affair with Cass’s husband Ethan. This sets off a crazy chain of events and when Emma disappears, Cass is the prime suspect. Secrets are revealed and when the dust settles, nothing will ever be the same.

Book Title: We’re All Lying
Author: Marie Still
Publisher: Rising Action Publishing Co ~ Rising Action
Genre: Domestic Thriller
Pub Date: March 14, 2023
My Rating: 3 Stars!
Story is told from the POV of Cass, Ethan and Alice.
It centers on Cass Mitchell who is forty and seems to have the perfect life. She and her husband Ethan have been married for nineteen perfect years; she has a perfect career as a powerful advertising executive and has two perfect teenagers –Aubrey and Ben (although any of us who raised teenagers wonder about ‘perfect’.
Cass’s perfect life turns out to be not so perfect when she gets an email with pictures from Emma, Ethan’s mistress. Not only
Ethan tells Cass he loves her and wants to work it out and save their marriage. Things seem to be going okay and then Emma goes missing.
As we read on more secrets are revealed.
I went into this story blind as to what it is about also why I wanted to read it or who recommended it to me. Have to admit as someone who reads a lot of psychological thrillers I wasn’t surprised as to whodunit.
However, I always enjoy reading the Author’s notes and Acknowledgement – as I love knowing the author’s motivation for writing this story.
Also in this case there are “Book Club Questions’ which are always thought provoking
This is a debut for Author Marie Still , however she also writes under the pen name of Kristen Steeley who has a debut [book: Beverly Bonnefiniche is Dead] coming out in the spring.

We're All Lying is a domestic thriller that will have you glued to your seat, needing to keep reading and find out what happens next. This salacious tale of secrets and lies is reminiscent of another author I enjoy, Kaira Rouda. So I was delighted to discover she had read We're All Lying and she loved it. Her blurb along with the synopsis convinced me to give it a try.
Cass has a seemingly perfect life, she has a successful business and a family she's proud of. Then an email from her husband's mistress is the first domino to fall and her life quickly spirals out of control. Because it seems the other woman is intent on destroying her and Cass has a past she'd rather stayed buried.
Cass tries to keep up appearances while trying to stop Emma, the mistress, from completely destroying her life. She has the support of her business partner/best friend and her personal assistant Alice is also there. Alice is always there and very knowledgeable and invested in Cass and her life...
When Emma goes missing, it doesn't look good for Cass or her lying cheating husband. They have secrets that will get out. All of this makes Cass unravel, she's a mess and can't really trust herself. She has done and would do anything to protect the life she's built. But would she go so far to kill or is someone setting her up?
We're All Lying is a pretty good choice if you're looking for an escape read. One character in particular is so obviously suspicious right from the beginning. So I wasn't surprised by most of the outcome but there were still some surprises. I will say the writing started out strong but in the second half felt rushed. It turned into more of a telling than showing in terms of final reveals and motives. The end is kind of thrown at you quickly like you jump right to it and everything just happens..
Overall, We're All Lying is an entertaining thriller. Your jaw will drop at the twists and you will be invested in what happens to Cass. Hopefully not as much as Alice is...

A great book filled with twists and turns. Enjoyed reading it.

This was a fast paced psychological thriller that kept me engaged from page one. Although it was fairly predictable and I was able to figure out the guilty party quickly, I still enjoyed it. This is one of those books that will keep you at the edge of your seat. Thank you to NetGalley, author Marie Sill, and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my review.

Someone is hunting Cass.
Cass lives an enviable life: a successful career, two great kids, and a handsome husband. Then an email from her husband’s mistress, Emma, brings the façade of perfection crumbling around her, setting off a chain of events where buried secrets come back to haunt her.
A taunting email turns into stalking and escalates into much worse. Ethan and Cass try to move on, then Emma disappears.
No longer considered a victim, Cass finds herself the prime suspect and center of the investigation. Her dark secrets including ones she didn’t know existed threaten to destroy everything they’ve worked for.
A fast-paced psychological thriller with jaw-dropping twists, the novel examines buried family secrets and how desperation can lead to fatal mistakes when We’re All Lying.
Really enjoyable read totally recommend

I just reviewed We're All Lying by Marie Still. #WereAllLying #NetGalley

This book!!! I was so honored to get to read this before it releases in March! I don't even know where to start honestly. There were moments where I was like hah I know what's happening. Like a magic trick she has you look one way while in reality she's doing so much behind the scenes. I couldn't put this read down. Literally every character has so much depth to them.
Cass is a hard worker with an amazing career. She gets to work with her best friend every day. She has an amazing receptionist who anticipates her every need no matter what. She has an amazing marriage. Until one mistake causes everything to unravel around her.

We're All Lying by Marie Still is a
This is one of those stories that hook you quick and keep you hooked.
A well thought out story that has plenty of twists and turns.
I found myself getting involved in the characters and their drama filled lives.
I felt incredibly invested in the characters and needed to know what happened.
Marie Still's deft style of detail and description made it easy to visualize every detail.
I really liked the atmosphere of this thriller and enjoyed reading it immensely.

Rising Action,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this eARC!

I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This was one of the first time I was able to guess who's the culprit was from the start, but it didn't reduce how much I enjoyed the book.
Cass has it all, hot husband, good kids, power career, until one morning, the one dreadful email with photographs of her husband with his head buried between a woman's legs changed her life. While she's trying to work out if she'll ever forgive Ethan, the horrendous, stalkerish text message started coming in, then she had to take a leave of absence from her work after a lot of money goes missing. Even worse, than her husband's lover goes missing, and the police thinks Cass is responsible.
Fast and fun read.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy of this book.
Class’s life is perfect. Perfect husband, perfect kids, perfect job. That is until her husbands mistress send a her an email detailing their affair. Case’s world falls apart and things get worse when she founds out just who Ethan was having an affair with. Her best friend Julie is ready for blood. Then the texts and emails start stalking Cass. What does the mistress want and why is she harassing Cass?
This book is written from the points of view of Cass, Ethan and Alice, Cass’s assistant. Most chapters are from Cass. There are very few clues as to what is happening and you have to read to the end to get the final spoiler. I really enjoyed this.

Twisty, plot-driven domestic suspense with surprises along the way. The marriage between Ethan and Cass is full of surprises, and the villains are ones you love to hate. Recommended for those who like novels about family drama and marriage struggles.
