"Defending an accused rapist, a high-powered lawyer learns firsthand the terrible truth about her client . . . a discovery that propels her on a quest for justice and revenge".

This book is a fast paced, couldn't put it down ride that had be holding my breath! There was a trigger warning about rape, and although I don't enjoy reading about that, this thriller was a well put together story, involving a strong woman just trying to be. Overall, this is a new to me author and I cannot wait to get my hands on more of their stuff!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and netgalley for the copy of this book in exchange for a review!

I know something you don’t know!!!

But, guess what? I can’t keep a secret so I’m about to tell you.

Her, Too, is destined to be a best seller and you do not want to miss it!

Bonnie Kistler, shines within the pages of this emotionally traumatizing novel and although the content can destroy your soul, I’m telling you, this is a must read. Kistler has a writing style all her own that will pull you in early on and never let you go.

It can happen to anyone…

This phrase is about to haunt you as much as this book will.

Fun facts about Bonnie Kistler, she is the author of The Cage and House on Fire, as well as penning other psychological thrillers as Bonnie MacDougal but this rockstar is also an attorney!

Defending an accused rapist, a high-powered lawyer learns firsthand the terrible truth about her client . . . a discovery that propels her on a quest for justice and revenge in this addictively readable thriller from the author of The Cage.

Kelly McCann is a fighter. She’s fought to build a successful legal career, fought for the special needs of her family, and tirelessly fought for her clients. Her specialty is defending men accused of sex crimes––falsely accused, she always maintains. Her detractors call her a traitor to her gender, but she doesn't care. Badass and brilliant, Kelly simply loves to win, and as the story opens, she's done it again, securing an acquittal for a renowned scientist accused of sexually assaulting his female employees.

But the thrill of her victory is short-lived. That very night she, too, falls victim of a brutal sexual assault. And almost as horrific as the attack is the fact that she can't tell anyone it happened—not without destroying her career in the process.

Kelly has never backed down from a fight and she’s not about to start pulling her punches now. Joining forces with her rapist's other victims, the shrewd lawyer plans to turn the tables on him. It’s not only about justice—these wronged women are out for revenge.

But someone, it seems, is out for them, and one by one, they find themselves facing even greater danger.

‘Her, Too’ by Bonnie Kistler started as a slow burn and quickly picked up pace with its action-packed middle. A bit twisty. a lot murdery, full of mystery and well-handled sensitive subject matters, ‘Her, Too’ will have you engrossed and on the edge of your seat the entire time. Be sure to check trigger warnings, but give this one a go!

One of the best legal thrillers I have read in a long time. Fresh, new, and timely perspectives make the story feel real. The main character is a badass woman who doesn't take no for an answer and I loved it!

Masterful writing, a timely plot, and a no-nonsense main character make this book unputdownable.

Kelly McCann is the embodiment of a strong female main character. She is the most sought after defense attorney for high-profile clients looking to be acquitted of sexual assault charges. She always delivers a win. She even delivered a huge win on the night she, herself, was sexually assaulted. She was put in a position where, if she told the truth of what happened, she would be disbarred and lose the life she has worked so hard to build. But should she live the rest of her life knowing what was done to her, living with the aftermath, and not able to do anything about it? No. Kelly McCann wins. That’s what she does best. Together with her abuser’s other victims, they come up with a plan to make him pay for what he’d done to them and ensure he can never add another woman to his list of victims.

Read if you…
🔎 Enjoy complex stories that challenge your assumptions
🔎 Were obsessed with How to Get Away With Murder
🔎 Liked When We Were Bright and Beautiful

Her Too is not a book for the faint of heart. It’s a unique thriller in that it addresses topics like assault and harassment head on and asks the reader to really step back and consider perspectives outside their own, all while functioning as a well-plotted revenge story.

Buying fully into the novel does require some suspension of disbelief as some of the subplots were a little out there and the culprit was easy to pick out, but overall I found the story to be thoughtful and engaging. It’s ripe for discussion and would make a great book club pick (if all members are comfortable with the subject matter).

Her Too is out now. Thanks to Harper Perennial and NetGalley for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I loved The Cage, so I knew I had to read this book as well. It follows Kelly, who is a lawyer for an ubergenius, rich scientist often accused of sexual assault. So far, she has got him off of 4 different cases (3 of them involving an NDA and a pay off.) It’s not until the last case that she wins, at this scientist’s (George) house, that she realizes she made a huge mistake helping him. Soon, 3 of the 4 girls Kelly had sign NDA’s are dead. Who is doing the killings? Why? They signed NDA’s…..🤷🏼‍♀️

This was a great story! It was divided into 4 main “chunks” titled by each of the women involved’s names. I loved the twist at the end, I honestly didn’t see it coming. I also was happy with the “happily-ish” ending for Kelly. I enjoyed the minor twists in the story as well. This story was well-written and has the reader turning pages due to all of the action and murders taking place. I am unsure how to categorize this novel….is it a legal thriller or a mystery/whodunnit? Kistler does a great job tackling a tough subject matter with sensitivity. There are trigger warnings, so be sure to check those out before reading.

This is an exciting and timely thriller packed with surprising twists and turns. It is full of admirable courageous women seeking to take back their power. It reminds us how important it is to have empathy and imagine what it would be like to be in another person's shoes because life turns on a dime, and you never if and when you will suddenly be in their shoes for real.

Defending an accused rapist, a high-powered lawyer learns firsthand the terrible truth about her client . . . a discovery that propels her on a quest for justice and revenge.

In 2006, Tarana Burke coined the phrase “Me, Too” to help women who had survived sexual violence. Fast-forward more than a decade, and the phrase is the slogan of the anti-sexual harassment and sexual violence movement.

Her, Too = #metoo (a play on the slogan)

This revenge thriller hooked me from the start. Despite initial expectations of a slow burn, I finished the book in a day. The dark, brutal subject matter added to the story’s suspense.

The villain was senselessly cruel & illogically evil, with his only redeeming attribute being his contribution to science and a potential cure for Alzheimer's. I don’t know enough about the psychology of serial rapists to say more about the character of Dr. Benedict. Was the main character Kelly a worthy heroine? You’ll have to read the book to find out…

Ultimately, I felt cold and disappointed by the resolution of the whodunit mystery. The revenge element was still enjoyable, even if the plot twist caused the story to lose momentum for me. Still, Her Too was a solid 3-star thriller.

I had the opportunity to dive into a book that resonated deeply with me, delving into the mysterious and tackling difficult themes. While reading about assaults has always been a challenging subject for me, this particular book approached it with such care and sensitivity that it allowed me to navigate those emotions in a meaningful way.

The slow-burning nature of the narrative drew me in, keeping me engaged as the story unfolded. With each turn of the page, I found myself increasingly invested in the characters' journeys and their struggles. The author's ability to make everything feel real and authentic was truly remarkable, and I couldn't help but become emotionally connected to their experiences.

This book wasn't just a mere story; it became a catalyst for introspection and empathy within me. It opened my eyes to the gravity of these difficult themes and made me confront uncomfortable realities. The way the author crafted the narrative made everything feel tangible, evoking a range of emotions within me—compassion, anger, and ultimately a strong desire to help in any way I could.

The impact of this book extended far beyond its pages. It compelled me to reflect on the world around me and ignited a passion within me to actively contribute to positive change. It left an indelible mark on my heart and mind, serving as a constant reminder of the importance of empathy and understanding in the face of challenging circumstances.

In conclusion, this book was a deeply affecting journey that resonated with me on multiple levels. It navigated difficult themes with sensitivity and authenticity, allowing me to explore my own emotions and perceptions. The slow-burning narrative captivated me, and the characters' struggles felt real and tangible. Ultimately, this book inspired me to be more compassionate and proactive, making a lasting impact on my outlook and reminding me of the power of storytelling to elicit empathy and change.

Wow, wow, wow.
That was such a twisty read. I could not put it down and was late for work a couple of mornings just so I could keep going.
I thought Bonnie Kistler did a good job of tackling very serious subject matter with sensitivity and realism. The way the women’s lives were impacted post-attack made sense and were not one-dimensional. There were a couple of moments that I was yelling at the book (the sign of any good read). I thought I knew what the twist at the end would be, but it had some turns I wasn’t expecting!

If you are a fan of thrillers I recommend Her, Too. I’ll definitely be reading more from Bonnie in the future.

Please read through content warnings before reading. There are additional support resources available if needed.

Thank you to Harper Perennial, NetGalley and Bonnie Kistler for an advanced copy. This is my honest review.

Her, too is an inconsistent thriller that at times tries too hard to tackle too much. The plot revolves around kelly, an attorney who helps a famous doctor get off of sexual abuse charges. However, kelly herself becomes a victim of his and hatches a scheme to get some of his other whistleblowers together to bring him down. However, while they hunt him, they are also in turn being hunted and begin to die one by one. Can kelly find the truth and save herself before it’s too late?

This novel had potential and it was.a fast-paced plot. However, it seemed as if it couldn’t decide if it was a legal thriller, a whodunit, a social commentary on rape culture, etc. I will give that there are some truly surprising twists and kelly is a likeable character, just not very memorable.

Thanks to the publisher for providing the arc via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

I do not know that this book is intended to be as scary as it actually is, but to me, this is borderline horror (well maybe not quite). Dealing with hardcore issues such as serial sexual assault and how the justice system has historically handled rape cases, this book explores what happens when a hot-shot attorney defending an accused rapist realizes firsthand that her client is a monster.

𝑯𝒆𝒓, 𝑻𝒐𝒐 is intense, raw, heartbreaking and powerful - and a book you won’t soon forget. I highly recommend the audiobook narrated by Susan Dalian and Elisabeth Rodgers.

Thank you Harper and Harper Audio for my gifted copies.

A riveting novel about a lawyer seeking both justice and revenge upon her client who fooled her into thinking he was innocent. Kelly McCann is a wife, a mother, and a damn good defense lawyer. She defends the monsters that have hurt women physically, emotionally, and psychologically. This book takes the #metoo movement to a whole new level that was hard to put down but also very heavy on my heart.

Kelly was a very unlikable character at the beginning but after her traumatic dinner party, that was far from congratulatory, she saw the monsters she defended for who they really were. She puts her life and her career on the line to take down a successful man with the help of a few women that he harmed but together they form a plan to attempt to destroy everything he’s accomplished in life.

This book started off slow but once it gained momentum, I couldn’t put it down. Readers will never guess the twists, turns, and outcome of this psychological thriller. I was pleasantly surprised with how it played out and I was rooting for the woman to wreck vengeance on this awful man and somehow prove to the world what kind of scheming and sick person he really is.

This book was very intense because of the subject matter. It started out a little slow for me but soon picked up and kept me engaged throughout. Excellent read!

Kelly McCann is a top defense attorney.. She has a successful legal career and has worked tirelessly for her family and clients. Her specialty, though, is not something she’s proud of; she defends men accused of sex crimes – though she maintains they are falsely accused. Until one day, she learns the hard way that not everyone she defends is innocent by falling victim herself. She joins forces with the other women who accused her client, and together they vow to bring him down. Kelly pulls out all the stops, but will he destroy her before she destroys him?

This one definitely took my by surprise!! Wow, what a great thriller.

Even though I guessed the ending pretty early on, it was still a great ride filled with twists and turns. Kelly is an amazing, strong female character.

Can't wait to read more from this author! Highly recommend, however, be aware of the triggers as the main plot line focuses on sexual assault.

The Cage was a favorite of mine last year and I was so excited to get an ARC of this one. This was such a good but upsetting book. I loved how strong the women in this were. Kistler was able to write about some serious topics well and made all the characters feel real. The ending totally shocked me! This is definitely one I will be thinking about for a while.

When lawyer Kelly McClaine gets Dr. George Benedict acquitted for a violent rape, he’s just another one of her high-powered clients she helped stay out of prison but when he invites her to a dinner with him and his wife she at first says no but he convinces her. She really just wanted to go home to Boston to her husband and children but after he promises he will send his personal helicopter to deliver her to Boston she agrees. Professionally Kelly has gotten many women who cried rape to sign DNAs and paid them off so they wouldn’t testify at his trial and the woman who refused to sign and wanted wanted him to go to prison Kelly tore her down on the stand and victimized her yet again. This high-powered lawyer will find out the hard way that she should’ve stayed with the prosecutor and continued to put the bad guys in prison because sometimes when you lay down with dogs you get up with fleas she will find out way too late that all those women were telling the truth but he will find out not every woman is going to take it lying down. Like they say hell hath no fury like a woman scorned and Kelly McLean has been scorned and she is out for revenge. I had really high hopes for this book and for the most part I really enjoyed it but didn’t like Kelly all that much I did feel bad for what happened to her there were a lot of things in the book I found unbelievable but for a fun thrilling read I would definitely recommend this book. I have really enjoyed Bonnie Kissler’s books but found this one to be only okay. I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
