I love cozy mysteries and this is q good one. If you like cozies about animals and it does give about a Halloween vibe even though it's not about Halloween then this is the book for you. The storyline was fun and the characters were interesting.

A perfect cozy mystery. Likable characters with the right combination of quaint and eccentric.

A Midsummer Night's Scheme is the second book in this cozy mystery series. When Chad Frivole, Tony award winner, Broadway star, and former resident of Vienna. announces his plan to open a regional theater in town, not everyone is happy of his return. He left a string of broken hearts back in high school and some very bitter women in his wake. Quinn and her cousin, Sister Daria. decide to investigate when it seems Quinns brother Sabastian might be the next victim in the killer's sights. This was a fun quick read with a slew of suspects that kept me guessing until the end. Thank you netgalley and to Crooked Lane Books for the advance readers copy.

A Midsummer Night’s Scheme by Harper Kincaid (Book Binding Mystery #2) 4 stars

A sequel to 2020 “To Kill A Mocking Girl” we find Quinn Caine, bookbinding specialist is enjoying an outdoor concert with her dog, Ruff Barker Ginsburg and her boyfriend, longtime crush, Detective Aiden Harrington. A surprise guest at the concert is Chad Frivole, Tony Award winning Broadway star and former citizen of Vienna, VA who is on hand to announce his plans to open a regional theatre in town. However, all is not “coming up Roses” with Chad, because while he was in high school, he left a string of broken hearts and angry women behind him. When he is killed in an unusual fashion there are suspects galore. But when Sebastian, Quinn’s brother is almost hurt in a similar fashion, it is up to Quinn to figure out who the real murderer is or her brother may end up in the morgue.

The mystery plot was interesting and action packed. I enjoyed the interaction between all the supporting characters. There is an interesting romantic subplot with Sister Daria (aka cousin Elizabeth) that looks like it will carry on into the next book. This was a fun read and I am looking forward to the next book in this series.

Thank you Netgalley and Crooked Lane Books for this ARC.

I enjoyed this book. It’s a light read. The characters are great. I was surprised by who the killer is especially as she’s rarely mentioned in the book.
