Good book on making basic cocktails. As the author notes these are very “Booze Forward.” I appreciate the author give some history of each drink, and that the ingredients are limited and fairly common.
I made the lemon drop and it was delicious.
Great reference for any bar. Would make a great gift for a housewarming or bridal shower.

Who wants to make delicious cocktails at home so pj's are appropriate cocktail attire? Also ME!
I love getting dressed up and going out to drink new-to-me cocktails. But I absolutely love staying in and enjoying a cocktail. And my repertoire has been more or less limited to Dirty Martinis, Moscow Mules, and Old Fashioneds. But now I am excited and inspired to try making more adventurous classic cocktails at home.
Since moving this summer, I now have an amazing built-in to house cookbooks, stemware, and bar items. It's possibly my favorite corner of the house 😍 so now it can be put to use!
Thank you to NetGalley and Zeitgeist Publishing for the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion - this book will be my go-to as the weather gets colder and I will be staying inside more (hello, New England winter coming all too soon). I can imagine that a physical copy of this would be an excellent gift for anyone who likes to experiment and wants to make more cocktails at home. Even the introduction was super informative and accessible, explaining basic needs for a well stocked home bar and the reasoning behind the different glassware used for various drinks. I'm excited to follow author on Instagram for even more home cocktail guidance.
I love Classic Cocktails Done Well by Faith Hingey due to the extensive research that has gone into this book. I will be checking out her socials for the photos she has there as well! I loved in this book the gorgeous pictures, the yummy recipes, and all of the facts and reference materials describing the different drinks. This is a great addition to a recipe collection, and a must have for a home bar. I will be adding this hardback to my Christmas Wishlist for sure!

I was so excited to have the opportunity to read this book once I read the title and description of it. This book is a how to guide on making the perfect cocktails at home. I love that the recipes for the cocktails in this book featured simple ingredients, and it was clear that this book is perfect for beginners who want to get into making drinks at home. This book also features beautiful and colorful pictures of the drinks, along with helpful tips that make the entire process much easier for those making the drinks from this book. I like that the author also outlined the necessary materials and the basic ingredients for drinks, as this made it super easy for me to get all of these ingredients before moving onto making the recipes. I think a lot of people will really love this book (from beginners to experts).

Classic Cocktails Done Well feels like a must have for cocktail lovers and home bar enthusiasts. The book is divided by the type of spirit, offers tool and class suggestions, and there are hints and tips to make your old favorites new with modern tweaks and twists. The gorgeous cover would look great on a bar cart.
Thank you to Zeitgeist and NetGalley for this ARC.
I learned a lot about classic cocktails and now I could even try to mix some of them.
Informative and easy to follow recipes.
Highly recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I enjoyed Classic Cocktails Done Well by Faith Hingey immensely. Recipes are simple and organized by dominant spirit. This is a book you can return to again and again, whenever you fancy a cocktail.

I am on a streak of reading books on cocktails, and this one ranks among the best of them. The chapters of the book are arranged by spirit with chapters featuring gin, brandy and whiskey among others. Within each chapter there are a balanced assortment of recipes for cocktails that can easily be made at home, along with clear photos of each cocktail. The book is complete with an introduction on tools, techniques and glassware.
I will highly recommend this to readers who are looking for an introduction to making cocktails!
Thank you to the publisher, Zeitgeist and NetGalley for the e-arc in exchange for my honest review.
I loved this book and I feel inspired to try new cocktails. I really appreciate that the recipes contain more or less the same ingredients and keep it simple, so it’s easy to make a variety of cocktails without having to buy a ton of different ingredients. This is one of the most user-friendly cocktail books that I’ve seen.
Recipe books are always hard to rate and review for me. Since it’s mainly recipes (that I’ll be honest, I haven’t tried) it’s not like I can share too many overall opinions but I can say this - I enjoyed flipping through it!
Thanks to NetGalley I got to read an ebook l copy of this and it was quite interesting. The introduction gave us the necessary insight into the author and the motivations behind the creation of this book. Each chapter starts with information on how to do something in a way that will create the perfect (or at least very well done) cocktail. There are even lists of recommended spirits, garnishes and other kitchen staples to have on hand when creating a home bar. The pictures are also helpful if you aren’t sure what all of the things he’s talking about are. We also get into the importance of using the proper glass.
Each chapter is something different and when the recipes come around they don’t just include ingredients, but there is a picture, a breakdown of everything from the glass to the garnish, step by step instructions, necessary tools and a background on the drink. I found that very interesting! There’s even a section for resources and I love that!
If you’re interested in making classic cocktails and doing it well and properly I’d definitely pick this up.
I'm not big on alcohol so I showed mom this book and she thought some were instering and gave her ideas. Which is helpful because my mom works in a bar.
Some of the recipes could be easily changed to how the person wants. Which is good .
Classic cocktails written in an easy to understand format. The photos were a nice touch, and the descriptions helpful. This was a great beginners book and fun anecdotes to boot.
If you want to learn how to make the perfect Hemingway Daiquiri but have no idea where to start, this book is for you. Newbies like me can learn their way around the hardware and the liquor cabinet and even get some trivia on every concoction that will make for decent conversation filler if you ever need it. Make sure not to skip the introduction, as it contains the core skills you’ll need for the rest of the recipes. Every recipe also comes with a picture: no need to memorize the name of drinks while you're out... Do it like me, and look them up visually! Cheers!
Nice book with 75 classic recipes of different alcoholic cocktails. Went through the pages fast, checking what I might want to try out for myself.
Don’t have all the necessary things at home but as an inspiration to try out something new - I liked the book. I don’t drink in general but maybe when I’m in the right mood - I might try something from this book :)
This is a good tool especially if someone likes to entertain at home. These are easy to follow instructions and there is a variety of recipes to choose from.
Classic Cocktails Done Well by Faith Hingey, was received directly from the publisher and I chose to review it. Cocktail recipe books come and go but this is one I will search out a hardcopy version of so I have it on hand. The book is broken down into making cocktails by beverage, such as gin, whiskey, brandy, rum, and more. The book has easy to follow steps, some photos and even gives background about cocktails, their origins and how some have changed over the years. I particularly liked the advice of basic tools and ingredients every "bartender" should, have on hand in their home bar. If you or someone you buy gifts for mixes drinks at home for themselves or others, certainly grab a copy of this book for them.

I really liked Faith Hingey's new cocktail recipe book. In today's ultra creative, smoked, syruped and bubbled mixology world Hingey brings back some a simpler time breathing new life into dated classic cocktails. Each recipe includes a well taken photo of the drink, an introduction/history, list of tools and ingredients, and easy to follow instructions. At the end of the recipe she includes a tip or modern twist to update the drink. I have to admit many of the recipes I had forgotten about or never heard of but they sound good and I cant wait to try. I really like the simple beauty of this book and think it is a great addition for the home bartender.
These all looked so delicious and the instructions were nice and simple. Exactly what you need in a book like this!
⭐⭐⭐⭐ -- Great cover on this one!
This was actually a surprisingly in depth book about cocktails. It's broken down into several chapters (The Classics at home, Gin, Whiskey, Brandy, Rum, Other Spirits & Liqueurs) Along with a ton of other information about classic cocktails, setting up a home bar, bartending tools, etc. The recipes themselves are well laid out and easy to follow. Plus there are "hints" and "modern twists" sprinkle generously throughout.
The only small issue I had was that it isn't the most visually pleasing of books. Yes, there is a photo for every recipe, however, they are not very eye catching or interesting. Just a single photo of the drink on a plain white background. I think it would have been more visually pleasing if the photo had at least been the entire page. 🤷🏻♀️

I have ALWAYS loved old, classic cocktails and this book is my “Spirit” animal. I love the background and overview given before launching into the 75 classic recipes.
My friends and I go to a local Supper Club that specializes in classic drinks…this book almost reads like their bartenders guide. I’m loving it and will be working through these recipes with my friends as we entertain over the next year. I’m even thinking this may be the best Christmas gift for all them as well. Its right up our alley! Can’t recommend this book more if you’re into classics as well.
