Starting with the prologue until the end of the book, author Elizabeth Goddard had me hooked. The action is non-stop and spellbinding. If you like a plot with lots of twists and turns, Cold Light of Day is the book for you. The main characters, Police Chief Autumn Long and the mysterious Grier Brenner, are likeable characters that I became attached to rather quickly in the story. Having the story set in Alaska added to my enjoyment of the book as I learned more about life there. I highly recommend Cold Light of Day. It's the epitome of great romantic suspense.

DAZZLING!

Elizabeth Goddard is beginning a new series, Missing in Alaska. Her first release, Cold Light of Day, is Dazzling! Goddard takes readers on a daring adventure with Police Chief Autumn Long. The Chief is doing her best to protect her small town of Shadow Gap. The ordinarily quiet area has suddenly fallen victim to unusually intense criminal activity. If not for the intervention of Grier Brenner, a newcomer to the community who possesses the skillset needed to help the Chief, she might find herself the next victim. Can Grier be trusted, or is he hiding out in Alaska like many others who have come there to escape from something or someone? Can Grier prove his mettle? The two of them join forces to fight for justice and work to solve several murder cases and an old missing person case. Autumn wants to believe the best because Grier, the mystery man, is on a path to capturing her heart. Readers will quickly realize this is a dynamic start to Goddard’s new series!

I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by Revell and NetGalley. The opinions expressed here are entirely my own and without influence.

Wow! This is an exciting read. Autumn Long is police chief in Shadow Gap, Alaska. Grier Brennan is a recent resident with many secrets. The action and suspense get started from the very beginning. The dead bodies pile up and there are so many questions to answer.
I liked the attraction between Grier and Autumn. I enjoyed visiting Alaska with this new series by Elizabeth Goddard.
I would recommend this book for all who love romantic suspense.
One quote from the book can be inspiring for each of us in our sphere of life - You’ve been through a lot and you’re here now, in this place and this position because God put you here. You need to believe that and know you’re the exact person needed in this hour.
Thanks to Netgalley and Revell for the opportunity to review this book.

A great addition for any fans of romantic suspense.

Autumn Long and family moved to Alaska after her mother died in a boating accident. When her father has to retire as police chief of their small town, Autumn takes over and does her best to protect their town. When dead bodies start turning up and crime increases around town, Autumn has to rely on the town’s newest resident, Grier Brennner, to help her figure out who is behind the murders and stop them before anyone else winds up dead.

Cold Light of Day is the first book in the newest series by Elizabeth Goddard. It follows Autumn Long as she tries to solve crimes and keep the job she has grown to love. The added pressure of having her job in jeopardy along with solving the crimes helps to make the story more intense and move at a faster pace. I enjoyed the Alaskan setting and danger the characters found themselves in. I was a little put off by the romance aspect and how fast that aspect of the story moved. That is the issue I have with romantic suspense, if the romance aspect is over done it takes away from the suspense and my enjoyment of the story. It is a fine line for authors to walk getting these characters together in a way and timeline that is believable.

Overall, this was a very enjoyable book that fans of romantic suspense will not want to miss. I can’t wait to see what this series has in store for readers in the coming books.

I received a complimentary copy of this title from the publisher. The views and opinions expressed within are my own.

“She’d pegged him as trouble when she first met him, and she’d been right. Unfortunately, she might be just a little addicted to his particular brand of trouble.”

Sometimes the lines in between good and evil are blurred and hard to see. In this book, Goddard explores some of the reasons people move to Alaska. As the story unfolds it’s hard to know who to trust as the murders increase. Chief Autumn Long and Grier Brenner are thrown together, but trust is a factor that keeps them separated. As she battles to keep small town life safe, everything she knows seems to be uprooted. It is an intense, inspiring, and thoroughly engaging read.

“Sometimes hope made the difference between life and death.”

“Cold Light of Day” has so many twists and turns filled with Alaskan adventures, it will keep your heart racing. From one adventure to the next, Goddard kept my interest by not only exploring the great outdoors and small time Alaskan life, but she added in a web of mystery. I love so many factors about this book from the romance, to the intrigue, to the adventure. I think this is one that if you’re interested in Alaska and adventure with a romantic suspense feel, you won’t want to miss it. There is a light faith element that added to the hope of the story.

“You’re here now, in this place and in this position, because God put you here. You need to believe that and know you’re the exact person needed for this hour.”

I really like this book. Just when you think you have it all figured out the author those in a twist and keeps you guessing. I liked Autumn she was a fighter and would stop at nothing to keep your friends, family and town safe. She truly had everyones best interest at heart. Grier was Mr mystery, I am usually not a huge fan of when an author drags out a mystery of a character however in this case it played out really well. I really enjoyed this book overall and could not put it down well worth the read!!

I love the beginning of a new series because it gets me excited to venture into a world that the author creates. This series promises to be an adrenaline rush with characters that you feel close to along with action that propels the story forward. I love the backdrop of Alaska and the description of a place where cold is normal and wilderness that seems to attract people to the land. I have seen pictures of Alaska and every time it sends shivers down my spine. The author lets readers feel like they are there in Shadow Gap with mystery surrounding the town.

I loved Autumn and how determined she is to keep her job as Chief of the little town. With a history of law enforcement in her family she doesn’t want to let anyone down. Danger starts heating up the town as a woman is rescued after almost drowning in icy water. Autumn is not sure she got the truth from the woman and wants to investigate further. Oh how I loved her inquisitive nature that made her good at her job. What will she find when she dives into the cold water? What secrets are hidden beneath the surface?

Grier came to this little town to become invisible but it sure doesn’t help him when he rescues a woman from the water. Everyone in town knows what he has done and considers him a hero. This is not what he wanted but then the chief asks him to join her in an investigative dive. So much for him blending into the scenery. He hides a dark secret that could cost him his life if the secret was ever exposed.

The non stop action is worthy of a movie with espionage, strange deaths occurring , secrets that reveal crimes and lets not forget revenge that heightens the threat level. I was not prepared for all the action and loved how the author included faith throughout the book. As Grier and Autumn work together Grier reveals who he really is. This was so emotional yet I loved how he trusted Autumn with the truth. This is by far my favorite book from the author. She delivers a story that reaches the top in danger and twists that will keep readers glued to the pages. I felt like I was watching the story play out in real life with vivid descriptions of what was going on. I can’t wait for the next book in this explosive series.

I received a copy of this book from the author. The review is my own opinion.

By far this is my favorite book written by this author. I can't begin to even describe how edge of your seat, gripping this book is. She takes you from one extreme to another, from trying to guess whether or not you should trust one person more than another. Trying to figure out the background of each new person that comes to town, are they friend or foe.If you love suspense with a little bit of romance in the mix, you will want to put this book on your list to read NOW! If you love to feel like you are in the book, this author makes you feel like you are right there seeing and smelling what is going on. nI love this sentence in the book "They sat in silence for a few minutes, watching the strokes of magenta in the sky dipping down between the purple mountains, and beyond those, the snowcappped peaks- miles and miles of them." She has a way of describing the scenery and making you want to be right there in the book with the characters.

Author Elizabeth Goddard captivated me with her brand new release, Cold Light of Day, the first book in her brand new Missing in Alaska series. This multi-layered suspense novel kept me turning the pages late into the night, rich in intrigue, danger and harrowing discoveries.

HIGHLIGHTS:
Small Alaskan Community · Law Enforcement Heroine · Hidden Identity · Murder, Conspiracy and Mystery · Shipwreck Dive · Faith and Family

WHAT I LIKED:
As a long time reader of Goddard’s suspense novels, I found this newest release to be exciting and slightly different than Goddard’s previous series. While still featuring a strong female lead and a heroic male counterpart, Goddard kept me (and readers alike) in the dark about several aspects of this novel that later became big revelations. These revelations added to the mystery and intrigue, making this story all the more enticing.

The Alaskan rainforest setting to this story proved to be a wonderful choice as it alluded to the small-town, hidden-away vibe that Goddard created expertly created for this novel. I could easily see the town of Shadow Gap being a place of low crime, where everyone knew each other, located off the beaten path and offering a place of refuge for people like Grier Brenner. The late summer time frame was also different and unique as it was not the typical snow covered tundra you imagine when you think of Alaska, but rather the wet, rain-filled pot holes of muddy roads in a lush, thick forest.

Main character and local Police Chief, Autumn Long, was a strong lead and a definite force to be reckoned with. I enjoyed her strength and passion for her job and her townspeople. Her backstory was painful and somewhat broken, but she rose to overcome and served her town well. I loved the challenges she met head on and admired her determination and the glimpses of her vulnerability. Grier Brenner proved to be non-typical hero for this story and that was something I enjoyed immensely. While at times, it drove me crazy that I didn’t know more about his background, I smiled, knowing that Goddard had me hooked on that alone and I devoured the pages waiting to learn more about him. The romance and tension between these two characters was a slow-burn as their attraction was deeply felt.

The suspense in this novel ebbed and flowed at a great pace. As the plot unfolded, twisting and turning in surprising ways, the mystery deepened and became more complex which ultimately kept me guessing. There were also some tender faith-based elements showcasing the characters belief in God and desire to follow in His will while seeking Him for protection and deliverance.

The riveting ending stole my breath away as Goddard’s elaborate plot came to a harrowing, yet satisfying, conclusion. I also loved how the small community rallied together in its support, lending a heartwarming touch to the conclusion as well.

SUMMARY:
A definite must-read for romantic suspense lovers!

Content and Trigger Warnings: Murder, waterboarding, abduction, alcoholism and officer-involved shootings.

Cold Light of Day is the first book in Goddard's newest Christian Romantic Suspense series, Missing in Alaska. It's interesting and fast-paced-paced, with plenty of action, suspense, danger, a slow-build romance, descriptions of what must be absolutely breath-taking scenery, and an abiding faith that guides the main characters, Sheriff Autumn Long, and new-in-town Grier Brenner, to do their best. The story, with its many layers - small town politics, personal dramas, multiple mysteries - kept me thoroughly entertained and swiping pages a fast as I could just to read what happened next. Highly recommend.

Many thanks to Revell and NetGalley for an advance copy of this book. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias or favor or expectation.

I loved this first book in a new series. I loved the thrills and suspense and romance. I did not want to put this book down. I loved Autumn and Grier. I love the descriptions of Alaska. I cannot wait to read the second book in this series. I received a copy of this book from the publisher for a fair and honest review that I gave of my own free will.

As a big fan of Elizabeth Goddard, I have been anxiously awaiting the release of her newest novel, Cold Light of Day which is the first book in her new series "Missing in Alaska". I must say that I wasn't disappointed.

The leading characters are Police Chief Autumn Long and Grier Brenner, a newcomer to town. I was intrigued by both of these characters from the start. They were both very well crafted, they pulled me in and didn't let me go until the very last page.

The story is set in Shadow Gap, a little town in Alaska. It is said people come to this town to disappear, as is the case for Grier. But while he would like to fade into the terrain he can't help but get involved when nefarious things start happening. He soon has the Police Chief asking for his help.

I really enjoyed Ms. Goddard's character and how she brought them to life. They carried me away from the first page and I found myself on a roller coaster that carried me deep into the night. I would have stayed up until I finished it, but I knew I needed to get at least a few hours of sleep. So I read it in two days and can hardly wait for Book 2 in the series.

If you enjoy romantic suspense novels that are fast-paced and keep you guessing I would highly recommend that you pick up a copy of Cold Light of Day.

On a Five Star scale - 5 Stars!

I would like to thank Revell Books, for my copy of Cold Light of Day. I received my copy for free with no expectation of a positive or negative review. The opinions are my own. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR. Part 255.

What an amazing edge of your seat story. Cold Light of Day (Missing in Alaska #1) by Elizabeth Goddard has three story threads that seem unconnected when they are first introduced. By the end they have been woven so intricately together, perfectly. Police Chief Autumn Long is struggling in her small community town but the violence that follows each day makes the job even tougher. Her past is also murky but not by her own doing. Newcomer Grier Brenner is a man of secrets but also a man that provides the help needed. What great characters.

I so appreciate the use of scripture that is brought to their minds when the going gets tough. This is a faith-based story that lets The Word speak for itself. However, this book does not minimize the necessary police work that must be done or the evil that strikes out at this small community.

I have read several of this author’s books in the past but this one is her best! I am so glad that I was able to begin reading with this first one in the series but now can hardly wait for the next one. Hope she is writing right now.

The publisher through Net Galley provided a digital ARC. I have voluntarily decided to read and review, giving my personal opinions and thoughts.

Cold Light of Day by Elizabeth Goddard is book #1 in the Missing in Alaska series. Police Chief Autumn Long is having a tough time lately. A crime wave has hit Shadow Gap, Alaska. She's also dealing with a council that wants to take her job away. One of her officers has been wounded. She's been getting hit on all sides. She has no one to turn to except local hero Grier Brenner. Grier Brenner came to Shadow Gap a few months ago to enter a fishing contest and never left. Not much is known about this mysterious stranger who came to fish, but fell in love with Southeastern Alaska. Wouldn't be the first person, right? Or perhaps he's come to "disappear" like some people have from time to time. Though he is practically a stranger to her, she can't help but realize he's the one person she can trust to help her get this crime wave under control. At least she thinks she can. Grier has secrets he can't discuss. He's finding it hard to stay out of sight. He's made friends with the locals and he realizes he loves the place. He's also drawn to the police chief with the weirdly beautiful eyes. Threats start to rise and both Autumn and Grier must rely on their faith and each other. It might just come down to a prayer or two before this place is ever the same sweet small town.

OMS!!! First off I'm a huge Elizabeth Goddard fan. I've been reading her a long time. Her books are amazing and this one does not disappoint. I read it in one day. Seriously! From the moment it starts with the prolouge...you can't put it down. So many twists and turns. This book has everything from betrayals to espionage to murders. Just everything. It keeps you guessing until the end. I love that it was in a small town. A town that comes with local characters that win your hearts. I truly feel that town's characters play a huge part in if a book is good or not. They add plenty of local color. And these characters have plenty of color or should I say mettle. And it has two dogs! Dogs are amazing, of course! There was no epilogue, but it did have a great ending that will leave you totally satisfied. Hopefully, we get to see a bit more of Chief and Grier in book #2. If you like a book that has plenty of intrigue, plenty of action, plenty of suspense, plenty of faith, and a slow-burn that will melt even the deepest of Alaska's snow piles then you might want to read this book. Just saying. I'm glad I did. I was given a copy of this book by the publisher, but ALL OPINIONS ARE MY VERY OWN!

An outstanding first book in this new series. The characters, especially Police Chief Autumn Long and Grier Brenner aka Grier Young kept the suspense coming at every level. I enjoy a strong female lead character and Autumn gave me all of that and more. She is the chief in Shadow Gap, Alaska, a job she took over after her father, the previous sheriff was injured. Recently there has been an uptick in crime and her job may be on the line. Her staff is incredibly loyal, well all but one who believes he should have been the chief. Her new source of strength and assistance comes from Grier, although she is not sure who he really is, but slowly begins to trust him. As the threats and dead bodies continue to rise, there is almost too many cases to solve. Will she survive the next threat on her life and why is someone so intent on kidnapping or killing her? I really look forward to the next book. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)

Alaska is the perfect setting for this Christian romantic suspense mystery. It's the perfect place to hide or restart a life. The story is action-packed from the beginning to the end. Police Chief Autumn Long's job is under fire because of a city council member's innuendo. He is also using his influence and wants to replace her with his nephew. When dead bodies are discovered, Autumn needs to investigate who the victims are and who killed them. Soon her life is in danger. A mysterious newcomer Grier Brenner helps her even though he has secrets to hide. Another mystery is determining if the danger is coming from Autumn's or Grier's past. I received a free copy of this ebook from the publisher. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. This is an excellent mystery that kept me on the edge of my seat. I love Autumn's grit in working through the mystery with the threats against her job and life. I also love how Grier is there to help even though it is dangerous for him. I love this book and look forward to the next book in the series.

This was a wild ride from the beginning. I absolutely loved Grier especially because he always seemed to be there to save the day. I liked Autumn too because I love strong female leads and she was quite impressive.

There were some parts of this plot that bogged me down because I felt like too much backstory was involved, but overall it was very intriguing.

I would recommend this book to people who liked Dani Pettrey's Alaska series!

I received an advanced copy of this book through NetGalley. This is my honest review.

When I started reading I thought I’d only read for a few chapters. A couple hours later it was way past my bedtime but I didn’t mind at all. This is my first book from this author and I won’t be my last. I really enjoyed it.
The details of the beautiful setting and diving were expertly written. Perfectly planted seeds of past stories from these amazing characters I wanted to know more about. The author definitely knew what she was doing. I had to keep reading until it all was revealed. The author does an amazing job of pulling in interesting facts about the area, all while keeping the story going and every detail is important and helpful to the plot. Every turn of the page brings more danger, secrets and intrigue. And the climax!

I loved the characters. Autumn had so much against her but she was strong and tough. Grier was the likable hero whose secrets were many. I enjoyed their chemistry. The people in the town of Shadow Gap were also written well.

Thank you to the publisher for the chance to read this book!
