Elizabeth Goddard is an author whose skills have continue to develop--she's a must-buy for me. I always enjoy the level of suspense, romance, and action she balances so well in her plots and Cold Light of Day is no different. Autumn Long is a small-down police chief facing a lot of social pressure. Grier Brenner is the mysterious man in town who showed up and stayed. Who is he really? Is he trustworthy? The novel builds to an exciting climax and a satisfying end. The isolated, small-town feel of the Alaskan "outpost" was well-written. The character development was well done. This is another stellar work by Goddard.

This book starts right up on the first page. The mystery and suspense keep this police chief, Autumn on her toes, throughout the book. So many events that keep you wondering throughout. It is a hard book to put down. And there is some romance there as well. Grier, a newcomer to town, has a knack of being in the right place at the right time. And it is unclear if he is one of the good guys or not??? Is he holding something back? There is a lot of criminal activity going on, but why and who is behind all of it?

The storyline is truly captivating and it doesn't take long to become totally immersed in it. There is a lot of action in this book from start to finish.
I love the Alaska setting, a place my husband always talked about but I have never been to. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher and NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.

The perfect mix of suspense and romance. Police chief Amber is struggling to find answers to the increasing amount of murders in her territory. When the handsome Grier is thrown in her path. The two will have to work together to solve the mystery before time runs out or Autumn discovers the secret Grier is hiding. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it to any friends or family.

Here's a book I wanted to keep digging into, but I didn't want it to end too soon! I am happy that it is the first in a series because I really like the characters and the small Alaska town that they live in. Elizabeth Goddard has developed a place and its people that feel real.
Having a background with law officers in my family, Police Chief Autumn Long has the feel of an officer from a family of LEOs. I like her. Grier Brenner is a newcomer to the area but there is a magnetism and mystery surrounding him that is immediately apparent. He comes to the forefront as a hero despite the fact that he is trying to pull back into the shadows. He's trying to disappear in Alaska. There is danger and intrigue here.
I received an advanced reader's copy from the publisher and NetGalley. This is my unsolicited opinion. This book is a good foundation for what I believe is going to be an interesting series. Autumn is a strong lead character. Although young she is proving to be a true investigator and a leader in the community. She has a struggle as most good leaders in law enforcement do with community leaders with their own agendas. Her personal background is filled with mystery which is sure to come full force in following books. I like this story very much and look forward to future ones in the series.
If you enjoy Susan May Warren books you are sure to like this. I give it 4.5 stars.

Grier couldn’t stand by and not help in the rescue. He was supposed to lie low and wait on a word from his contact, but the police chief had grabbed his attention. He could see she needed help. Grier was trained for times like these. Therefore, he could not stay hidden.

This is an exciting, adventure that showcases the beauty and dangers of the Alaskan terrain. I loved it. There is a mystery to solve, a murderer to catch, and Who was this mysterious man name Grier, who just happened to be at the right place at the time Autumn needed him?

The author keeps readers guessing until the very end. There are plenty of twists and turns to make things interesting. I enjoyed the natural spiritual thread and the splash of romance as readers wonder if this couple will ever get together. This was a fun escape and one to is book club worthy.

I absolutely love books that are set in Alaska so this was quite fun! The descriptions of Alaska's settings were wonderfully visual that became a character itself......The crazy twisted plot that I didn't see coming and a subplot that drives the tension.

The past few weeks have been intense for Autumn, but it's about to get even crazier, a series of unsolved crimes in her small town of Shadow Gap, and she has no idea each case could connect to the others. Then there's Grier, a stranger in town, who is supposed to be hiding out, adding intrigue to the tale, who always seems to be in the right place at the right time. There is a lot of personal and professional suspense along with romance throughout the story. Twists and turns kept me reading and anxious to see how it would turn out.

Clean Read- God's faithfulness is woven throughout the story.

Lovers of romantic suspense will absolutely enjoy this engaging - page-turner story. I highly recommend it!

This is an excellent thriller, set in Alaska in a small town. The local female police chief, Autumn, is an interesting character and the excellent plotting is filled with suspense right to the last page. Elizabeth Goddard is one of my favorite authors, writing books with suspense, mystery, and romance. Cold Light of Day, the first book in a new series, Missing in Alaska, is no exception. I loved the characters: Police Chief Autumn Long and relative newcomer, Grier Brenner. A string of criminal activity has come to small town Shadow Gap and it is up to Autumn to get to the bottom of it before the city council decides she isn’t right for the job. Grier is in Shadow Gap to hide from his past but somehow becomes the town hero, offering his services to help. There are a lot of twists and turns which makes this book fun to read and hard to put down. I look forward to the next book in the series!

Cold Light of Day by Elizabeth Goddard is a romantic suspense. She created a satisfying balance of character development and action. She dropped bread crumbs for us to learn about Grier’s past. I was smitten with Grier from the very beginning. My favorite part of the book was how they were unexpectedly drawn to each other and how their feelings were developing. He was the hero.

Autumn was also a great character. She had her own family drama but I didn’t feel it defined her. Her work drama felt realistic and you were frustrated on her behalf.

I didn’t realize this was book one in Goddard’s new series Missing in Alaska. I am looking forward to the new series. This is my favorite book by Goddard.

Peaceful remote Shadow Gap, Alaska, a beautiful setting for Elizabeth Goddard's new book, and if your familiar with her writing, yes, your in for an adventure of non-stop action, and this one does not disappoint.

I love that there is some sweet romance, but there is also some town drama, but then there is the body count. Autumn Long is the Chief of Police and this quiet town is about to become very busy! Enter mysterious Grier Brenner, and now there is more danger most you won't see coming!

Keep reading, there are lots of surprises coming, and you will wonder whom is going to survive.

Now I can't wait for the next book in this series!

What an exciting, page-turner!! Cold Light of Day by Elizabeth Goddard is a wonderful romantic suspense set in a small town in Alaska. With the police chief Autumn Long who is being edged out by the town's council and Grier Brenner, a man who came to Alaska to hide, this heart-pounding story fleshes out each of their complicated stories as they team up to solve a recent and unusual crime wave in this small town.

The chief doesn't know who to trust, given that one of her deputies has ties to the council trying to get rid of her. Grier Brenner rescues a woman from the frigid waters, and the chief and her pilot happen to rescue them. Grier has become a hero despite his needing to maintain a low profile. "The man had a sturdy presence about him, one to which she found herself inexplicably drawn." Chief finds herself trusting Grier more and more, despite not knowing his story. He is drawn to her, despite knowing he shouldn't get close to anyone here. "Chief Autumn Long with her striking multicolored eyes and dark, curly hair, possessed the fiery spirit of a survivor. Yeah....he recognized a kindred spirit when he saw one."

Grier frequently had meals at the local restaurant, and "these men had become Grier's fast friends when he'd wanted none, but they were characters with colorful histories and he related to them." "Otis nodded. "I knew the first time we met that God brought you here for a purpose greater than your own."

"To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God. Micah 6:8" is a plaque on the wall in the police station that is a good reminder to the chief of her purpose here, and not to dwell on the forces outside her control who are working against her.

I highly recommend "Cold Light of Day". Lovers of romantic suspense will absolutely enjoy this engaging, page-turning, stay-up-too-late-reading, story!

There is a lot of action in this book! The suspense keeps the story moving and the characters have you rooting for them from the start. Can you tell I enjoyed this one! The book is the first in a new series call Missing in Alaska. The setting was described perfectly and is definitely a part of the story. The interaction between the two main characters, Autumn and Grier, was believable and fun to read. I thought the characters were developed nicely and the dialog flowed well. I would recommend this one to anyone who enjoys suspense, Alaska based books, and likable characters.

Shadow Gap is a small quiet town in Alaska - many miles away from anywhere. Autumn the police chief usually deals with minor issues - lost dogs and supposed Bigfoot sightings are the norm, not murders. Right from the beginning, the murders and attempted murders start piling up, why it is all happening is a mystery. Grier is an outsider who is supposed to be hiding out, not making friends and connections in the community - especially not the Chief. Add in a father who is spiraling downwards (helped by excessive alcohol consumption) who she needs to look after and keep out of trouble, office politics including a town council member determined to get her kicked out of her job, and the uncertainty of whether one of her police officers has her back or will do anything to get her job, and you have a fast moving, attention grabbing book that is close to impossible to put down. This well written book is the first of a new series by Elizabeth Goddard, and like her other books, this one belongs on the keeper shelf! An exciting new series set in Alaska. Autumn Long is the new sheriff and has to fight with the town council to stay that way. Grier Brenner is new to town and came to Alaska to hide from his past. As the bodies start piling up Autumn finds herself working with the mysterious Grier to solve the crimes and find out why she is being targeted. This is my favorite book so far from this author. The action starts in the opening pages and doesn't stop until the end. The suspense is great as they try to unravel what is going on in their small town. An inspirational, romantic, suspense. I highly recommend it.

I really enjoyed "Cold Light of Day" by Elizabeth Goddard. This is the first book in her new series. The story line was very engaging and the author had me guessing until the end! The characters were well developed. At first, there was a lot going on in the story, but it all came together at the end! I will admit to being frustrated with the number of characters, but once I realized that each one was important to the plot, I relaxed and left the work to the author rather than trying to figure it out. Sure enough, she gave enough clues that I could figure out who the character was until I could easily remember them on my own.

I appreciated a thought-provoking book and series title and it didn’t take me long to realize that for the Chief of Police and her side-kick, viewing things with fresh eyes in the daylight unhindered by the emotion of the minute, helped them with their investigation and understanding why people ‘go missing’ in Alaska.

My first introduction to this author left me impressed. I can’t wait to get back to Shadow Gap, Alaska.
