I first started reading the Big Mate books in grade 3, probably, and I would constantly return to my school’s library to find more Big Nate books. These, along with the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books were a fun escape from the bigger novels I was reading at the time. I would’ve ended my run of the series, during the 6th grade, as I began reading only novels, and more adult ones. I do, occasionally, read books aimed at younger readers, as they can be just as good, if not better than some more adult literature out there… and it’s just fun! And this book was no exception! I the humour of the older books is still present, and the surprisingly risqué stuff was still there!

4/5 stars!

I had my 8 year old read and review this one with me, since he's a huge fan of this series. He gave it a 3.5 out of 5 stars. He laughed quite a few times while reading and read it in one sitting. His favorite part was the Sunday comic strip with the garbage man and Nate's lucky socks. It wasn't his favorite Big Nate book, but he definitely enjoyed it! I'm sure this will be a big hit with fans of the series, who will no doubt be clamoring for the next hilarious installment.

My 9 year old loves these books and was so excited to read the latest one! He loved it and laughed out loud while reading it. We will definitely continue to keep enjoying this series. I received a free copy of this book from netgalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

I read this book with my 8-year-old and, while the graphic illustrations were very well-done, the story just fell a little flat for us.

Nate spends most of his time getting into trouble, drawing comics, and playing pranks on others. Some of these were entertaining and we did enjoy the side characters. Unfortunately, Nate wasn't our favorite. This book struggled to hold my son's attention but we finished it to see how everything played out.

If you're a fan of Big Nate, I'm sure you'll enjoy this one! If not, you'll probably pass like we did.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for letting me review this book. This was a fun and quick read. My students love these books and will enjoy reading this one as well. I like how in the pane of where Nate owes Gina a favor and it’s driving him nuts cause she is taking her time. Yet she learns a lesson about being nice regardless of the circumstances.
