I got this book because of the title. It was cute and funny and very entertaining. I did not know Prancer before this but boy I do now.
Not living in the US means I didn't know the story of Prancer before reading this. A dog owned by an old lady, who had to moved into facility, thus the dog had to be put into adoption. And it was not good for Prancer, who was the center of attention of this lady. Then he was adopted by a nice person named Ariel. And Prancer the Chihuahua reminds me a lot of my dog, somewhat "adopted" during pandemic, and now becomes clingy to me, though he is not a chihuahua. Some of Ariel's struggle are also mine, I feel her panic, stress, but love the mutt instead.
Absolutely loved this book. Prancer is the most adorable dog i have had the please to read about. Can't wait for someone to turn this into an animation.
This is a true story of Prancer and his Mom Ariel. Prancer is a typical dog and likes to share his opinion on things. It starts where he is adopted by Ariel and how his opinion changes of his human. Illustrations are adorable and it is written from the mind of a dog. I think this is a really cute and heart warming story.
Thank you netgalley for this ARC. I am leaving an 100% honest review.
Pranced just got himself a new follower. An adorable story that made me smile. The images were just adorable, even when he peed on backpacks I went awe.

As an owner of a pack of three chihuahuas (now two sadly), I know that these little dogs can often get a bad rap. I have had many people tell me how bad chihuahuas are, but very few have ever owned them or even hung out with one for a while. They are very loyal, spunky, and fun little dogs. They can also be very friendly if you socialize them enough.
I remember reading about Prancer last year and hoping he would find a good home. I was so happy to hear that he finally did! This book captures many of the ups and downs of living with a chihuahua. They do bark (A LOT) and usually at nothing. Peeing around the house can be an issue. However, they also love to explore, play with toys, run around, and most definitely hang out with their family. Prancer is no different than any other chihuahua. He and Ariel (his owner) have become a family who love to go to new places, watch movies, eat bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches (excellent and yummy choice!), and put on fashion shows. While he does pee on her belongings around the house and likes to chase squirrels, Ariel has seen past his bad behaviors and has come to love Prancer for the good doggie that he can be when given a chance.
I would like to thank NetGalley, Pam Pho, and Andrew McMeel Publishing for allowing me to read this advanced copy of Prancer the Demon Chihuahua. It was a fun book that made me smile and laugh. I would also like to mention that the illustrations by Cloris Chou were so adorable!!
What even is the point?? I can't see that being in Gitmo would have been less fun.
extra characters to make this long enough, for little reason other than netgalley's own.
Too cute for words! This is actually my first time hearing about Prancer the Chihuahua and now I'm in love. I adored everything about this book, especially how Prancer goes from calling his human 'victim' to 'mom' 🥺 It's more of a sweet tribute to them both and not really an activity/joke book as promised though. I would have loved more details and photos about Prancer!
Cute book about a semi-famous Chihuahua. A bit reminiscent of the Pusheen books but with lengthier stories here and there.
At the longer worded bits the flow is a bit off is the phrasing sometimes. I should know, I regularly have to go back to fix flow 😁. However, it doesn't imped the cute and funny parts.
I do feel the illustrator could have put a bit more effort in. It was obvious some pictures were copy and pasted for reuse later. Between that and the okay quality, and lack of quantity, of some of the writing I wouldn't pay what they're asking for this book. The free copy I got from NetGalley had a cover price set at $10.99 US. I think they would be lucky to get people to buy it for $7.99 US.
I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
This book was about an internet-famous dog. It is filled with illustrations and lists.
For a book that is supposed to be an activity book, there really were not any activities. It was very repetitive. While the illustrations were cute, they could have been any chihuahua. The actual content was very sparse. If you are a fan of Prancer, then this would be a good book, but in general, I would pass this one up.
This book seems so disconnected, It didn't feel like I was reading an actual book. I thought there would be something interesting about it but no, it's just a book that exploits the fame and the influence of Prancer the chihuahua. You wouldn't like it unless you're a really big fan of Prancer already.
This book seems thrown together, choppy, and disconnected. I would not want my child to read a book where the main character is so obnoxious. I get it, there are dogs who aren't the best, but to put it in a book and brag on things like peeing in his owner's shoes, is not something that should be highlighted. Not worth the read, nor the money.
This was a funny story. I think I would keep this on hand in case the kids wanted something funny to read or to put them in a better mood.
I loved the illustrations in Prancer the Demon Chihuahua by Pam Pho. It was recommended to me as "part joke book, part activity book, all fun!" but can sometimes feel sparse. I suppose a print book (rather than an ebook) will make more sense as there is a lot of blank space to jot down notes. I didn't like all the bits against cats, though I understand that was from the dog's viewpoint; however, there was some bad training advice as well. This is a book to capitalise on the influence the dog has on social media. It doesn't add much value unless you are a big Prancer fan already, or you want to discourage your kids and/or other family members from ever getting a dog. There are pages after pages of puns, and the whole book can be read in 10 minutes.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the digital ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. #NetGalley #PrancertheDemonChihuahua
"Prancer the Demon Chihuahua" is a glorious ode to Prancer, who became internet famous after a post by his former owner admitting how terrible and demonic he was and begging for someone who could love him to give him a new home went viral. This book offers a look into Prancer's new life from his perspective now that he is living with a new "victim." The art is adorable, and the story is amusing, fun, and silly. Kids and adults will appreciate this little book. Recommended for all collections.
Thank you NetGalley for this wonderfully cute and funny book. Well written in Prancer point of view.

I'm not so sure I'd call Prancer a demon but, well, then again, those aren't my shoes regularly being watered by Prancer. This is a cute one, aimed at children, and though it's subtle, shows the growing relationship between Prancer, the rescue Chihuahua, and his human. I mean, pay attention to how Prancer, the supposed author, refers to her human throughout.
Adopted from Last Chance Rescue, Prancer seems to have become famous online, not to mention in drive-thru lines. The book part details Prancer's growing attachment to his human, Prancer's likes and dislikes as well as favorite activities, not to mention offers up cute little games and jokes throughout. My favorite joke, btw, is one my short legged corgi mix would agree with. "What do you call a Chihuahua in the rain? Mad."
Chihuahua lovers are sure to find something familiar and to chuckle over as they read. I rated it a 3.5 for me, rounded to a 4, which is more likely to be an accurate rating for children. Thanks #NetGalley and #AndrewsMcMeelPublishing for introducing me to Prancer and giving me some chuckles.
If you're like me, you fell in love with the little demon chihuahua while at the same time glad you didn't meet the requirements to adopt him. This book is filled with adorable pictures, lists, and anecdotes (my favorite was the Starbucks one!). We get to see Prancer slowly warm up to his new owner as he starts out calling her his next victim to slowly changing to calling her Ariel...to maybe even mom? If you loved his story, you will adore this book.
This was available as a Read Now book and I never request childerns books but it was too cute to pass up especially since I have a chihuahua of my own. It's hilariously accurate. I even brought my phone to my mom to show her about how funny it was in relation to our dog.
Thank you, Andrews McMeel Publishing, for the advance reading copy.
This book is so fluffy cute!
The art is the highlight for me. The cover is cute and so is the content!
You will get to know titbits about chihuahuas and you will get to burst so many myths when it comes to this particular dog breed. Job well done!
